Howdy! My name is Christian.
Brookness and one other reacted to Lonewolf8951 for a post in a topic
Howdy from Texas! Well to start in the beginning, I was born in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. I was abandoned shortly after; the reasoning I've come to believe was because of birth defects of my legs. I was taken in at an orphanage and soon adopted by my now parents (U.S. Citizens) after they saw an article of me in the El Paso Times. (I was just under a year old) Everything seemed wonderful to them the day the Mexican Agency said they could take me home, that everything was done. They were wrong however. They failed to tell my parents the need to file visas to reclassify me as a citizen. And worst of all they didn't tell my parents to get an Adoption Decree, finalizing the adoption. So all to say, the adoption was incomplete. It was when my dad went to get a social security number for me that this whole debacle came to light. Now here's the real kicker. When my parents went back to the agency to attempt to fix all of this, they agency folks said they had no records of me. Say what now?! Yeah. So I've been stuck in a rather unique situation. Undocumented from a botched adoption. All the immigration lawyers I've seen over the years have always told me to just go back to Mexico to fix it. But that's obviously not an option. I've been the states now for twenty-three years. Mainly lived in the south, Texas,Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and now full circle back into the Lone Star State. Life has been good to me for the most part. But not being able to legally work or drive, with school as expensive as it is, I haven't been able to really start life. It's like being a horse at the Kentucky Derby but someone's keeping your gate closed. DACA is the first thing to come around that's able to help me. A real blessing. It's not a total fix but it's a start. And I'll take what I can get. I'm a Dreamer. And it's nice to be around others that have the same fears and frustrations, hopes and dreams. So here's to the next step. Y'all are in my prayers. Peace easy and take care. -

1 pointWhat I find a bit surprising about this data is the number of people approved, low. And the small number of people from my nationality, more south koreans than us.... =0

What do you plan to do after you get your EAD?
YourFriend_Gzuz reacted to Aled for a post in a topic
I already received my EAD. So far what I've done is acquired my SSN, and recently applied for a state ID. After I receive that I'll go apply for my DL. We're nearly approaching the new year and what I'm doing now is preparing myself on all aspects to finally go out there into the workforce. I'm looking to start the new year like never before, college also awaits me. I have big plans -
1 pointReally good website. Comes in real handy. According to the calculator. I really only waited 41 days since i applied. Doesn't seem like a lot of time. :|

Once I get it, apply for a SSN and DL. My butt is going to work and work like crazy. But most of all, I'm going fishing. I'll finally be able to get a fishing license and not worry about game wardens and fines. I can see that five pound catfish already. I'm happier than the gopher in Caddyshack. -

Voted! Good luck to your friend. -
1 pointWelcome Cinthya! Glad to hear you got approved. I wish we would get a SSN assigned when our EAD goes into production, the waiting for the approval, then the production of the card, then for it to be mailed, then to apply for a ssn, then wait for the ssn to arrive, then for the license and wait for the license to arrive in the mail. Such a long process!! They need to fix that

1 pointDon't think of yourself as undocumented anymore. Take a positive spin on the situation. You absolutely qualified for DACA so it's a matter of "when" and not "if". Tell them that you were sure your process would be finalize in time after seeing how fast it was moving but it slowed down a little after the election. I know this is a really nerve-wracking situation but don't feel so emotional or insecure about it. Keep reminding yourself of your skills and that they WANT you and this is just logistics you have to figure out. Only thing I really, really believe is that you should give them a heads up YESTERDAY. Do not go in on your first day and let them figure it out or try to explain. Crossing my fingers for you! This is so emotional for us but its just a number and taxes for everyone else. It's like losing your ID and waiting for a new one! Lol except not! Haha but really... Be confident and positive. If they have a problem with it, on to the next! You're a working woman now!

1 pointfrom what i been reading the facebook pages yeah you do and they say that if its been more than 75 days theyll grant the service request and you should have an answer with in 5 business days
-
1 pointYes it is! I am from Miami and flew to NY during the summer. I used my passport (without visa) and it was fine. TSA only verifies that you are indeed the person that is flying. You might feel a little anxious as you go through the security check, but after you pass, you feel great! One thing I did though, I handed the TSA agent my passport already opened on my ID, so as to avoid the agents going through the passport themselves. TSA is the only people that you should 'worry' about. ('worry' = not really )
-
1 pointHope your words are heard my friend. We all are anxiously wanting the dream act for permanent residency. After receiving my EAD I will just go apply for a SSN Can't do much with just the EAD hehe

1 pointcant say that it's true or not. for me, personally, i think lawyers are too much of a middle man. if you think you have a chance of getting denied, then yeah, you should get a lawyer but if you have a straight forward case and sent in as much paper work that you have, then i think its just a matter of when an employee at USCIS gets to your case. and who really knows the process that the applications are processed. i mean some people who applied back in august, like i did, are still waiting to get approved. i was approved a week after my bio appt.
-
1 pointYes. Your case review really starts when the biometrics result come out. Getting your biometrics earlier just means your case gets started reviewed earlier, but that doesn't mean you will get notified earlier. Every application gets reviewed case by case basis. The timed consumed to make final decision depends on the center your case gets reviewed under, the official in charge of your case, and most of all, your case. You are misunderstanding something big. No one got approved before the biometrics.
