I really like your post and this is my opinion: I am disappointed in thinking that every 2 years we'll have to pay the fee of 380 to renew our EAD. If the ACHIEVE act offers me the opportunity to stay in the country that I love and be able to work, go to school, and eventually raise a family, I have no problem accepting this act. This is a political move, allowing us to have residency but not vote against the Republicans.... As Ive said before citizenship to me is like a brand new COACH purse, I want it but dont necessarily need it....

On Wednesday, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus held a press conference rejecting a weak attempt by Republicans to address the country's broken immigration system. Both pieces of legislation offered by GOP legislators, ACHIEVE Act and STEM Jobs Act, were revealed as falling short of real comprehensive reform. Baaah The 'Achieve Act' is just an effort by a couple of retiring senators who advocate a 'piece-meal' approach to solve the issue at hand. We, as DREAMERs, have the responsibility to demand that our current situation be taken seriously. We need to push for a path to citizenship, that way, we can also petition our parents/relatives. Many of these senators endorse an approach, which states that if you are a DREAMER, you can become a citizen by serving in the Military. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Personally, I don't like, nor support, warfare. I respect the decision of many to serve in the military, since I have a couple of friends that are currently in the armed forces. That being said, I believe the vast majority of the DREAMERS would be reluctant to join the Military. I would rather serve my country by creating jobs and paying taxes, than picking up a rifle or flying a drone. Aside from that, some senators also say that through the Achieve Act (or similar acts that will be put forward in congress by the GOP), DREAMERS can pursue 'a vocational degree of some sort.' First of all, I find that disrespectful, and my reasoning follows: I understand that all of us have different circumstances that influence our decision making. Not any one situation is identical to the other. All of us have different needs and priorities. However, we have to keep in mind that We are DREAMERs for a reason! Some of us DREAM of becoming Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, etc. A vocational degree WILL NOT get you there...that is a fact. Some of these careers, and others, require an investment of many years in traditional universities. How do they expect us (as a whole) to achieve our dreams by placing a 'glass ceiling' in the type of education that we strive for? I am seriously considering Suiting Up and going up there so they can hear me out. However, I am broke at the moment The above comment represents my personal opinion, and in no way strives to generalize our perspective as a whole. My two cents...

This won't pass. It was just thrown out there as a lame attempt by the Republicans to try to come off as the good guys that want to be on the Latinos side. If you read the requirements, you would see what I mean. It would take an eternity to get anywhere with the Achieve Act. This would basically give us a LONG pathway to Residency, instead of a pathway to Citizenship like the Dream Act would. We would have to get Visas with the Achieve Act and have to check in with DHS every 6 months. This would take away our work permits until we get a degree or serve in the military! After about 8 years minimum you would be able to apply for Residency, at the back of the line. I'd rather keep DACA and renew every 2 years until Republicans and Democrats get together and work out something that would truly benefit us, not this. Achieve Act in Detail W-1 Status: Those with a W-1 nonimmigrant visa would attend school to earn a bachelor's, associate's, vocational/technical, or advanced degree, or serve in the U.S. military. A W-1 visa holder would have 6 years to get a degree or enlist to serve four years in the military. To be eligible: - Applicant must have lived in the United States for five years prior to enactment; - Applicant must have entered the country before the age of 14; - Applicant must have good moral character; - Applicant must not have committed a felony, must not have committed more than one misdemeanor, must not have committed a crime of moral turpitude, and must not have a final order of removal pending; - Applicant must have knowledge of the English language, of American history, and of principles of U.S. government; - Applicant must be 28 or younger at the time of application (unless applicant is under 32 and possesses a bachelor's degree from a U.S. college at the time of application); - Applicants pay an application fee; - Applicants complete a medical exam and submit biometric and biographic data as part of a background check. To maintain W-1 visa status, visa holders: - Must check in every six months with the DHS, and be compliant with program requirements; - Must not access public welfare benefits; - Must not access federal student loans, or other federal benefits, but may work while in school - Do not have access to a green card while here on the W-1 visa. W-2 Status: After completing all W-1 education/military service requirements, a recipient can obtain a W-2 visa, which is a four-year nonimmigrant work visa (also allowed, study toward a master's degree or higher). Criteria for obtaining W-2 status: - Recipient must have earned a bachelor's, associate's, or vocational/technical degree in the U.S. while here on the W-1 visa or have served four years in the U.S. Armed Forces; - Pay an application fee; - Continue to meet W-1 criteria (no criminal record, check in with DHS, etc.). W-3 Status: After completing four years of work while holding a W-2 visa, a recipient can then apply for a (permanent) nonimmigrant (no special pathway to citizenship) visa. Criteria/conditions: - Must have complied with all requirements/eligibility standards for W-1 and W-2 status; - No eligibility for public welfare benefits; - W-3 status renewable every four years; - No new green cards are added in the Act, but a W-3 visa recipient could apply under current law to obtain one and get in line.

The Obama administration in June announced that illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. before the age of 16, who are younger than 31 and have lived in the country at least five years can be considered for a deferral of deportation and work authorization to be renewed every two years. They must also be in high school or serve in the military to be eligible. Gov. Brewer has said that denying driver's licenses is justified because her state's agencies don't grant public benefits to any illegal immigrants. At least 10,000 undocumented youth in Arizona have applied for the federal program, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. i just cheked my case status and my form l821D said this: On November 20, 2012, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. bla bla bla....... but on my form i765 said this: On November 28, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you I guess my question is can this be true should i call uscis, can they first approve my application for employment???? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take no credit for this guide. What Happens After You Send In Your Forms? This will be a guide to what happens when everything for your DACA case goes as planned. You have sent in your forms I-821D, I-765 and I-765WS (G1145 for those that want the Email/TXT notification of application acceptance). So what are the steps and events that happen subsequent to this event? Assuming your package made it to one of the different Lockbox locations as specified in the instructions. You should receive an electronic notification or an electronic I-797C Receipt for both I-821D and I-765 forms. (5-7 days after they received your package at the Lockbox) The previous steps would mean that your forms had all the required information, that your forms were properly signed and that you included the correct filling fees. Your case has now been routed to one of the four Service Centers (Nebraska Service Center (LIN), Vermont Service Center (EAC), California Service Center (WAC), and Texas Service Center (SRC)). All service centers have different processing times for the forms you have sent; depending on their queue of pending applications you might see different processing dates. (This guide will detail more or less my case routed to LIN) You will then receive the physical receipts of the same notification (if you did not send form G1145 then this will be your first notification of your case), I-797C for both I-821D and I-765. (5 to 7 days after the Service Center received your package) The next step in the process would be for background checks as part of the decision process. USCIS will now request for your biometrics (fingerprints). You will then receive a subsequent I-797 Notice of Action receipt in the mail with your appointment date for your biometrics to be taken at your local Application Support Center, ASC. (7-10 days after the Service Center received your package) You have an appointment, the date arrived.* The ASC has successfully taken your biometrics/fingerprints, your photo and your signature. Depending on your background checks, whether your record is clean or not so clean, the following will take less or more time. Your biometrics are sent to the FBI (who usually returns your record within 24-48 hrs) and its forwarded to USCIS for them to do IBIS Name Check and IDENT Fingerprint Check as part of the background checks. The Biometrics letter after your appointment, notice the stamp. You should then receive a TXT (If you have Signed Up to USCIS Portfolio) showing that your I-765 application has been accepted and your card has been ordered for production. This change will also appear in Case Status online. (6-15 days after the date you did Biometrics at ASC) Congratulations! Your case has now been accepted! The adjudication of I-765 means your DACA case has been approved. You should then receive a TXT (If you have Signed Up to USCIS Portfolio) stating that your I-821D has been approved and a notice has been mailed. (1 day after your I-765 EAD goes into production) You should then receive a TXT (If you have Signed Up to USCIS Portfolio) stating that your Employment Authorization Document (EAD), has been mailed. (1 day after your I-765 EAD goes into production) You should then receive a TXT (If you have Signed Up to USCIS Portfolio) stating that USPS has picked up your EAD. (1 day after your I-765 EAD goes into production) Then you should receive a First Class Flat Rate Envelope that contains I-797D which contains the approval notice and the EAD card itself. (4 days after I-765 EAD goes into production) Front of I-797D Back of I-797D As you can see from the process above the time is streamlined and very efficient. I cannot guarantee that your case will take the same amount of time, because that is unrealistic, every case is different, and as time goes by there might be less or more realistically more applications for USCIS to go through. I sent in my application through Priority Mail on August 16 and was approved on September 11, which was less than 30 days. But, others have not had the same luck, so this is just so you can see the steps the case must go through. I cannot put a timeline for a case that might be sent a Request for Evidence (RFE) or a Notice of Intent of Denial (NOID) because I did not receive one and I have not read of any. This is case-by-case basis and if all the odds are in your favor you should expect the same result. This is also under the assumption that you qualify for this benefit, if you are committing fraud then you risk being denied and your case being referred to ICE. I take no credit for this guide.

From what we are currently seeing there is a back log of Daca applicants. The estimates are3 to4 months or so as a wait time. There is some debate about when you should start counting.Do you count from the day you filled and Uscis sent confirmation or from your bios. Process really test your patience!

Jose that was really informative thanks for posting. @everyone - Just a litte more patience. We all waited at least 5 years for this. Please keep busy, get involved with non-profit projects or help others file DACA. I know the waiting period is nervewrecking and all sorts of thoughts cross our minds but remember everyday you are a step closer. So, start planning for your future. I wished I would have looked into jobs before getting DACA just to get the feel for them and start going to interviews and stuff. It is a lot of work and the job market is super competitive. I got my EAD since Oct 22 and I am still job searching, Anyways good luck to everyone!!!

Im a beast at zombies video games, especially Call of Duty Black ops. COD Black ops 2 came out on the 13th came out but I havent played it..and i really dont want to because if not ill dedicate all my energy into that and ill be starting school in january. Im currently trying to get back in shape...maybe start speed walking and hopefully eventually run....

Thanks! I checked DMV from my state (NJ) and I found out that when you'r e older than 17 but younger than 21 you have to get probatory license. With this probatory license you have to practice unsupervised driving for a least a year before obtaining the basic drivers license. This probatory license has these restrictions: Display a reflectorized decal on each license plate (front/back); decals available at motor vehicle agencies, $4 per pair No driving after 11:01 p.m. and before 5:00 a.m. Parent(s), guardian(s) or dependant(s) are allowed as passengers. A dependant is a permit or probationary driver's child, not siblings Only one additional passenger is allowed unless accompanied by a parent or guardian You can't use cell phones, hand held video games or any other hands-free interactive, wireless communication device
