DACA Approvals Surpass 50,000!!!! :)
JLMan and 4 others reacted to sanchez05 for a post in a topic
Earlier this afternoon, the Obama administration releasedupdated statistics indicating that 53,273 undocumented youths have been granted relief under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. As of November 15, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had received more than 300,000 requests for deferred action, with most applicants still awaiting the completion of background checks. The figures did not indicate how many beneficiaries have received work permits under the program or whether any requests for deferred action have been denied. At the rate the agency is processing applications, more than 100,000 requests for deferred action appear likely to be granted by the end of the year. http://immigrationimpact.com/2012/11/16/breaking-daca-approvals-surpass-50000/ -

Number of Applicants slowed down
Rh_ny and one other reacted to REPutation for a post in a topic
Sooo after reading it....lol I still dont get it? So why has it slowed down again? -
2 pointsgood article however, i think that this article relates to the slow down of the number of applicants and not the process of the application itself. if the number of applicants has slowed, why hasn't the number of approved DACA applicants raised? wouldnt that make more agents available to have applications looked at that are already filed? i dont expect answers to this questions, just thinking out loud i guess. :-/

There are three types of Social Security Numbers, I'm quoting them from the website I found: 1. "The first type is the basic one known to hundreds of millions of people. It gives your name and Social Security number and allows work without restriction. This card is issued to U.S. citizens and to noncitizens to whom the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees immigration, has given permission to live and work in the United States permanently. These include green-card holders as well as refugees and people granted political asylum." 2. "The second type of card carries the words "valid for work only with DHS authorization." It's issued to people who have permission to live and work here only for temporary periods." 3. "The third type has the words "not valid for employment." This type is issued to noncitizens who don't have work permission but need a Social Security number for other reasons, such as to apply for government benefits or services." So getting back to your question, yes, you need your physical card (EAD) along with your SSN. -

1 pointIt's a glitch in the system. It happened to everyone, not just DACA applicants.
-
1 pointA very nice, wide, clear explanation and examples. I felt envious with those people who got their applications processed hastily and feel somewhat relaxed by now. Congratulations. Pray for us and wish us luck.

1 pointMy brother and I went in on the same day. The only difference was I was scheduled to go in 11/29. Did it like 20 days in advanced. Today I came to the realization along with wise words from my Ama that I have to let things just be. It will come when I least expect it. So I propose the same to everyone who is waiting. Lets hope for the best and keep ourselves busy. Congratulate those who get their permits before us. So that when we get ours we will have people who will congratulate us.keep me posted.....would love to congratulate you when it comes even if you get it before me!

1 pointLOL...see how my post started with personal opinion? I dont necesarrily have to answer the question if I dont have the answer, however one of my rights is freedom of speech, so I can give my opinion. Thanks for pointing that out.. That sounds great Rudy, since you were already approved, give everyone a general idea on the "severity" of misdemeanors.

How to obtain a Social Security Number after DACA Approval
REPutation reacted to itzel for a post in a topic
I took in my original and notarized copy of my birth certificate like roadrunner suggested, but they didnt even look at it, the lady that helped me was easy to get along with and super helpful...and since I was already in the system, she just confirmed my parents names and ss #s. There are no fees and seems waiting times vary depending on state...
