    Thoughts After Being Approved......

Ok, so I thought I would start a post about what we, as DACA applicants, have done since we have been approved. I know that there are still a lot of people waiting to get approved and this is not meant to make them sad but to show them that, even if, we as DACA applicants, may not have legal status, we can still be productive people. Here's my experience: Before DACA, all I could do was work minimum wage jobs (for a short time) and just try to get by with what I had. I lived with my mother and my sister and stayed home pretty much most of the time. It was depressing know that my sister and brother could do what ever they wanted and I couldnt. Sitting at home day after day sucked big time!!! After I sent in my applications, I started to look for jobs that I knew I could do and would just hope that my past job experience was good enough to at least get my foot in the door. I was approved a week after my bio (yes, i know it was fast. took me off guard). After I was approved, I got my SSN, DL and State ID and more importantly, I got a job. To be able to get up every day (well, monday thru friday) and get ready for work is a feeling of accomplishment. And a feeling of usefulness. I finally feel like I am a person. Not just a living person but a person on paper too. To show my DL, is like showing someone a golden ticket. Like "yes, that is me and i am a person". But in finally having all this there is a sense of responsibility that comes along with all of this. The responsibility of showing America that we are not the free-loading people that some make us out to be. And we are not here to just have "anchor babies". That we are of use, not only to our families but the America as a whole. That we do not want to be given (ok, maybe a little) amnesty but at least given the chance to become as American as we feel. I have been in the country all my life. 29 years. (yes, i know, i'm old, lol) and throughout my years I have heard talked about Immigration Reform to only never see it go anywhere. I honestly and truly hope that 2013 is our year and that those who doubt us will have those doubts wiped away in the coming years. “There is a significant moral difference between a person who commits a violent crime and a person who tries to cross a border illegally in order to put food on the family table. Such migrants my violate our laws against illicit entry, but if that's all they do they are trespassers, not criminals. They deserve to have their dignity respected.” ― Madeleine Albright, Memo to the President Elect LP: How We Can Restore America's Reputation and Leadership

    Hi everybody

Hello everyone, My name is Maria and I was born in Ecuador and came to the US when I was 9. I'm very excited to become a part of this forum and to get to chat with you guys about similar concerns we all have. It's really nice to finally be able to "talk" to someone about something so personal and not have to worry about being discriminated against. So I can't wait to get started and maybe get to know some of you or all of you through this forum. Bye.

    APPROVED...SO WHAT?!

So I have been APPROVED! I NEVER received a text message! But I did receive an EMAIL! Of the early yesterday morning of November 30th, I received an email from uscis. Today, the first of December was the day I viewed the emails haha. The email read as this: Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION This was sent at 9:30 a.m 11/30 Application Type: I821D , Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals This was sent at 11:30 a.m 11/30 Feeling: With school finals coming up, I stopped focusing on my case. I used to come to this forum everyday, hoping and wishing my anxiousness would be healed by the constant good news of the associated members. But GOSH! That helped for so long. Even though your happy for others, you do not really feel jealous or upset, but begin to get a little more anxious and worried for your case. So after letting go, USCIS contacted me of my change of statues. I do not know how to feel. I never been the girl that ever won anything, so it's a new feeling. Like I am still in disbelief. Seriously It took me a whole day to muster up feelings of happiness! So my point of this topic is not to rant on about myself being approved, but too let those others that have still been in the "initial review" and been waiting, in what they would consider a "longer time" that I UNDERSTAND. ITS EMOTIONAL AND STRESSFUL. IM WITH U. BUT YOU HAVE TO LET GO AND LET GOD TAKE CONTROL.

    Ead or just social security

on a lot of job application it will ask if you can work legally in the US. to this question you answer yes. you also use your SSN when also filing out job application. now if the employer, you are applying with does E-Verify then you may need to show them your EAD. i recently just read an article that states that your immigration status, whether legal or illegal is a PRIVATE matter and unless asked directly you do not have to answer any question regarding it. when i am asked, my answers depends on who ask. if someone normal (like just a random person) ask, then i tell them it's none of their business and to show me THEIR papers. if it's an employer or potential employer, I tell them that i can show proper papers that will allow me to work in the US legally. most of the time, by employers or potential employers dont really ask. if they do hire you, you will need to show them your ID and your SSN. your SSN will show that it is only for "Employment Purposes Only"

    "Work after EAD" Forum

By the way; if your smart you can start looking around your area for jobs. I haven't been accepted yet and have a position ready to fill as a bank teller for citizen's bank. This, of course, is the afternoon shift and it should, every week, round up to 30 hours with $10.50 as the opening salary. (I mean round up as schedule is not fixed. I might work longer on monday then thursday, or it could switch out, no matter what, 30 hours a week.) Pretty nice! The only issue I would ever, ever have there is that people are not my age and do not share same interests...but it's a job and helluva good one ^.- (I got this by having my aunt speak with the manager whom she worked for 5 years ago. She used to work there and gave me a big recommendation, as well as mentioning my situation so I don't have to hide anything! Luv it.) I would be very very sad if I was declined, but there are no issues with the past 8 years of my life here.

After I receive social security card, I'll get my State ID and DL, get a car and work 2 jobs to pay it asap. Then finally attend a technical school for auto-technician.

Wow! There's a thing as a fishing license? Wow. That's sooo stupid. I hate that us dreamers are so limited on some of the basic activities that most citizens take for granted. Many blessings with your action...n fishing

Oh my goodness Lonewolf! I never even realized the problem with getting a fishing license! How ridiculous! I'm happy for you! That'll be the best tasting dinner EVER

I have A LOT of plans :b ... but first get my SSN then my CA ID and DL. Get a job. Go to a better college, try to get my AA before transferring to a 4 year institution, then I'm gonna try to get a job in something that relates to my major and a lot more stuff, but i'll see how it goes . Can't wait to get approved and get my EAD!!

It feels so unreal still. After getting my EAD, SSN, and DL I am applying for jobs at local clincs and hospitals to obtain my medical experience and use my bachelor's in science. This will hopefully allow me to attend medical school if we are granted permanent residence. For now, I will be content with getting an entry level job in the health care field.

I already received my EAD. So far what I've done is acquired my SSN, and recently applied for a state ID. After I receive that I'll go apply for my DL. We're nearly approaching the new year and what I'm doing now is preparing myself on all aspects to finally go out there into the workforce. I'm looking to start the new year like never before, college also awaits me. I have big plans

Once I get it, apply for a SSN and DL. My butt is going to work and work like crazy. But most of all, I'm going fishing. I'll finally be able to get a fishing license and not worry about game wardens and fines. I can see that five pound catfish already. I'm happier than the gopher in Caddyshack.
