Legal Resident = Permanent Resident?
pswa83 and one other reacted to roadrunner11 for a post in a topic
This is almost all true, except for the fact that DACA grants LEGAL presence for 2 years. You are not illegal under DACA; however you are not a permanent resident so those scholarships might not apply. -

When dealing with Immigration its best never to get your hopes up what i always do is, if they tell me something is going to come or happen in 3 months i assume that means 4-5 months always be patient and just overestimate so you wont get you hopes up, when dealing with these people it can go both ways these dates are never that acurate you might even hear from them before that, it all depends on how many cases are ahead of you.. good luck. hope things go well -

waiting too long?
hunninutz and one other reacted to Santi for a post in a topic
Many people are right... I have been waiting since Sep 13th, the day of my bios. I have called a couple of times, and even reached the next level of customer service. I was told that everything was in order, and that I just needed to wait. Also, I mentioned that I couldn't check my status online and they told me that I would not be able do it. Bottom line: all we can do is wait. But whenever we get it, we gon' be like: -
1 pointWhy Vermont why??? I applied back in August and still nothing! Its been almost 5 months! I fell so helpless... Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... Ok sorry guys just had to get that out!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way! And with that being done back to a positive state of mind!

1 pointwelcome cynthia I am also new! Best of luck to you! and my cousin also lives in arizona and he got approved in a month in a half I was amazed how fast he was approved. He had to come to New Mexico to get a license since Arizona is not allowing there students too. I hate that hopefully things change this coming up year and our parents and friends can all have a chance to apply for residency soon. A reforma is all I ask for since I was 15!

dreamer2008 reacted to erika22 for a post in a topic
If it is true that USCIS sents letter mondays and thursdays than hopefully tomorrows my lucky day. I did my biometrics December 5th! so its been 2 weeks and I thought I would be fast since I was receiving my paperwork very fast at the beginning! another thing I didn't know you could have walked in to the biometric appointment earlier than the date they sent. I would have gone earlier but I waited until it was December 5 oh well hopefully immigration gets to working fast so we all get good news soon -

Legal Resident = Permanent Resident?
FloridaLoveBug reacted to Fabio978 for a post in a topic
No. You are not a legal resident. Being approved for DACA only grants you the ability to stay in the US worry-free of being deported for 2 years as long as you remain a useful citizen. You are still Illegal. The major factor with being approved though, is that, maybe, in your state, they allow you to receive resident tuition, which means 50% off the tuition & fees bill (if it's a public institution from the state, i.e. Community Colleges & State schools). -

Welcome! Best wishes to you. The instructions for DACA are very detailed as well. I would suggest you to read them and then see if there are questions you need help with. Some local organizations charge very little to revise your paperwork after you have filled it out. If you need any help you can always message me. I filled out my application the day it came out and got approved. -
1 point"Did Biometrics on - 10/11 (no walk-in)" That's the reason why, Vermont is taking long, some people who did their Bios back in Sept. are still waiting, so hang in there, you'll soon receive news from USCIS.

why do some get approved before others
pswa83 reacted to roadrunner11 for a post in a topic
Please be thoughtful when replying to the forum posts. I will be giving warnings to those who spam others' topics. -
1 pointYou can get a job that requires you to travel outside the US with DACA, remember you can ask for an advance parole, as long as your employer writes a letter specifying it's for work purposes the need of traveling abroad, then you're set.
-
1 pointYes of course, what you can't do is jobs that require you to travel outside the US (unless they sponsor a visa somehow), and some government agencies.

Whats the average estimate and timing on what happens after my Biometrics appointment?
dennis8648 reacted to pswa83 for a post in a topic
i was approved a week after my bios but it all depends on the center your case is at. there are other forums with people who applied in august and september that are still waiting. -

February marks 6 months from August. Like I said, he probably just gave you an estimate from the 4-6 month processing time. -

dennis8648 reacted to pswa83 for a post in a topic
it's hard to say. from what i've been hearing, USCIS says 4 to 6 months. some people have been approved fast and others are still waiting. it all depends on which service center you have as well. -
1 pointRFE is a Request for Evidence. which ,means that USCIS needs to see more evidence in addition to what you sent. sometimes is something minor, like a certain time frame and other times its because people didnt send enough evidence. and usually the RFE letter will say what USCIS want evidence they need to see.
-
1 pointThis is so confusing, not even the operators on the phone have such information. But anything is possible.
-
1 point...Whenever I check my e-mail and no notice from USCIS whatsoever...

Me entere porque estuve Googling en la pagina de uscis y ellos dicen que el lunes y jueves son cuando usualmente mandan caftas/rfes/approvaciones.
