1 pointHi Everyone!!! Havent been online as often as I'd like...work and getting ready for school has kept me occupied. Approval from DACA is guarenteed to open many new doors and possibilites for all.. Well, heres what this post is about...taxes... This is my first legal job ever, before DACA I worked under the table and never filed taxes... Well this job, every paycheck withdraws taxes... Ive been reading up on doing taxes and the different categories..nonresiden and resident.. DACA didnt provide us with any type of legal status, however Publication 519, the US Tax Guide released by the IRS, categorizes us as resident aliens because of the time we've been here (page 5).. They even have this little table that helps you determine what to file under.. I will be filing as a resident as indicated by Publication 519 because of the time I've been here in the US, I mean we obviously had to meet that requirement to get qualified for DACA.. For any Android users, theres a free app called "TaxCaster" from Turbo Tax and gives you an estimate of how much you'd be getting back..its really user friendly.. Now all I have to wait is for my W2 from my employer at the end of Jan. and get back some of those taxes... Heres the link to Publication 519: http://www.irs.gov/p...rs-pdf/p519.pdf Any questions/comments feel free to do so..we're here to help each other out and Im sure I can learn something new.... Itzel...

1 pointHappy new years everyone! So, I am Cindy, from Indianapolis. I have gotten approved already. I still love to show support to my fellow DREAMers all over the nation. We should stand united, always!! My social life is pretty low right now, because before DACA, I pretty much just hid at home and would not go out to bars/clubs with friends from school because of lack of ID. All those missed opportunities caused to fade many of my friendships. All my friends moved on onto starting families, careers, getting married, you name it. I felt like my life just on idle. All my current friends are relatives, ugh lol. Also, most of my friends from school are white, and I was just to shy to confess about my situation. I am pretty shy, but I am sweet and caring. Been single for a while now, and with DACA now, I feel like in 2013 I would start becoming more outgoing and perhaps meet new friends, make up for lost time. Hopefully score on a few dates <3 and even find me a decent bf awwwww =] Well just wanted to vent for a bit. I know you guys would understand my situation because we align with the same problems and obsticles. Thank you for listening.

1 pointI have been waiting more than 4 months already my daca application was received on August 20, 2012 .I thought that it was a good idea to contact uscis and inquire with a service request and this is the answer that i received in an email i just think that it is not fair and normal so that means that it is possible that i have to wait a total of 10 months to get a notice wow can't believe it . The status of this service request is: Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below. If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must submit Form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address, within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). To notify this office of a move, visit our website at: www.uscis.gov or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. The Form AR-11 can be downloaded from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. Instructions for filing the Form AR-11, including mailing instructions, are included on the Form. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services The date of this letter is December 26, 2012 so i think that by June 2013 i would contact them i hope they just said 6 months so i won't bother to contact them again during the rest of the processing.

1 pointSOURCE The number of applications submitted dropped in November and it seems like it's going to drop more in December. From Nov 15 - Dec 15, they doubled the approval number from the previous 2 months and a half. It seems like there will be more approvals in December than there were in November, which was 47,954 approvals.

1 pointEveryone gets a different person to review our cases, it takes longer for certain people with common names. I was accepted 2 weeks before my sister! I had to keep the secret until she was approved, to prevent what you are currently going through.

I met my husband online. We talked on phone & Skyped etc then met in person & later got married. -
1 pointIt is cute if both are on the same page, otherwise it just doesn't work.

1 pointJanuary is our month everyone. Fresita22, your mom is right, our time will come when we least expect it. I guess the best thing to do is to focus in a new project like school, family, 2013 goals, healthy habits or by encouraging other dreamers....
-
1 pointThat's exactly what they told me. Today is 100 days since I sent my application, we just got to stay positive and hopefully January is the month we receive our papers.
-
1 pointyeah, once they mail your EAD, you'll have it within a few days, then the SSN takes any where from 5 to 10 days to get in the mail and if you live in a state where the DMV gives you the DL/ID the same day you apply for it then you should be good.
