Hey Guys I'm New Here.
jd_208 and one other reacted to AdaptiveEmo for a post in a topic
My name is Hugo, I'm 19, engaged to the love of my life, who i plan on marrying soon, hoping to become an accounting or police officer, still debating. Found out i was illegal by the age of 16 and since then my dreams have been thrown out the window. I thought i was not going to fulfill my dreams, not be able to afford the stuff that my wants and needs, and was worried about me getting deported and not be able see my fiancé nor marrying her and i couldn't tell her that i was illegal, cause i was afraid of what she would do if she found out. So ever since then i sorta given up, but yet i graduated high school on june 9, 2012, still with my fiancé and about to go to 3 years on the 7th of February. After graduation my parents introduced me to the dream act and so we got started immediately and got my bio finished at the end of november and now currently waiting for my approval and work permit to work, drive and start a life with my fiancé. During the pass 3 months of waiting for the approval, I'm getting criticized by friends of my fiancé of why i don't have a job, drivers license, nor being in college yet and all i could give them is excused lies. if only they knew. they been talking crap about me saying that I'm worthless, huge waste of my fiancés time, trying to convince her to break up with me, and that I'm a no life and its putting me in a depression and having thoughts of suicide. Now I'm waiting, checking every day in my mailbox, hoping that one letter will be here soon and once it does, I'm going to find a job as fast as possible so that i can tell people to shut up. Thank you for your time and i hope everyone else is doing better than i am. -

Welcome to the forum. Stay strong and be patient, soon you will have the opportunity to prove everyone wrong and flip the bird to whomever are currently criticizing you. You just have to realize sometimes life won't be easy and accept things the way they are and cherish it. Depression is a common thing among everyone and you need to deal with it or seek help. If seeking help is not an option, then you have to come up with a solution that will help you understand things better. Focus on the good thing not on the negative. G'luck with everything. -

Job searching
Raul reacted to roadrunner11 for a post in a topic
Here are a few tips on where to find jobs - 1. Online - Most companies take the electronic route these days. So, if you have a company in mind you would like to work at go on their website and search for the "careers" or "jobs" link. Some even allow you to create a profile and save your resume to apply for several positions. Department of Labor - All states have one. They will have online resources for job searching. Go on the website and register. Registering allows you to upload your resume and personal information such as SSN and EAD number on a secure website. Also lots of reliable employers post jobs daily, so your search is more likely going to be successful. Other websites - indeed.com, craigslist (BE VERY CAREFUL on here though most posts are scams so NEVER provide your personal information), careerbuilding.com 2. Old Fashion Way- Go to businesses and ask for job applications. Make sure to look presentable and professional. First impressions are important. Ask relatives and friends if they know of anyone hiring. You are more likely to get hired if someone you know works there already Newspaper ads That is all I can think of for now... Please feel free to add more information -
1 pointso, i was wondering around another forum today and came across this. I get that everyone should have access to the 1st Amendment and all but I think on this issue, our issue, these people makes us look foolish and just plain rude. Opinions?? Thoughts?? Let's discuss shall we?? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/05/house-immigration-hearing-dreamers_n_2624085.html

Deferred Action Taking Too Long
arla2004 gave a reaction for a post in a topic
Hello everyone, I applied to DACA on August 17th 2012 (date the application was accepted) then I proceed attending the Bio-metrics appointment on September 22th 2012 today is February 1st 2013 and I haven't received nothing what so ever from USCIS no noticed no nothing... now I know this process is case by case... but still strange to know that is is taking so long, assuming I was part of the "1st wave" of applicants considering the date my application was accepted and in addition I haven't been involve in any crime, felony or anything related to that matter. I apologize in advance if I project myself as perhaps ... arrogant or impatient ... for lack of better word, but I cant help to humbly wonder ... How come is that this process taking this long? what is the actual average time? is there anyone else who can relate to my case? , thank you for your time, good luck ..V. (^.^) oh btw is in Nebraska -
1 pointso lately I've been really frustrated with the waiting for my approval! And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one so I decided to create this post for everyone to post and talk about some stuff we could do or that you have done to keep yourself busy and not think about DACA that much!

Supporting The Cause Or Making Us Look Foolish
Gezinha reacted to ツ alejandriiukz ㋡ for a post in a topic
Completely ignorant, they are just making us look bad... There was no need for them to do that since Obama granted us Deferred Action or at least gave us something rather than still be illegal. -
1 pointWow your beother is like, 4 days ahead of me, I sent it to VT center as well. I guess I can get a little bit excited this week...maybe? hahaha I hope so.

1 pointI paid a lawyer 2500. I did my bios on Dec 27th and I'm still waiting.... The reason why i got a lawyer is that i came to the US before i turned 16 but i didn't want to go to school because i was terrified of not knowing anyone and of not speaking any english.... I started working with someone elses papers so there's not really a record of me being present in this country until i was 17....except for some pictires :-( Still my hopes are up. Now when i see all the time i lost because of my fears, i just wanna cry. The good thing about all i went through at that time is that once i started school i went all the way through college and then university...but then i got pregnant and couldn't finish my career. Now I'm planning to go back to school as soon as i get approved!.....I'm very happy for all of the dreamers that were accepted already and my prayers are with all of the rest that just like me are checking their status every day.

Fake Ssn #?
Gezinha reacted to splif0clock for a post in a topic
From what I know, if you are working with a fake SSN #, most probably you are using a fake first name and last name. So, why would anyone send in a paystub associated with fictitious name and ssn # on it. On the other hand, if you are using your actual name and fake ssn #, you could send it in but the pay stub must not have the fake ssn listed on it. If it does, you can find yourself in a big problem when the person dealing with your app pulls up all related info to that SSN number. From the paystubs that I have seen, most don't include your ssn number on the paystub at all and some may include the last 4 digit of your socials, so you might get by. In any case scenario, it is always best to seek advice from a lawyer so you don't run into more problems. -
1 pointVery well said Erica, Thank you for saying that. I unfortunately, have never been to CA or AZ, and but I can only imagine how hard it is for all the immigrants to work a low wage in the hot scorching sun, while the Cali beaches are filled with 15-19 year olds sit on the beach drinking and surfing. God forbid, if you ask them where a lemon, or a strawberry comes from, they wouldn't even know they grow outta the ground. Now, this girl in the article, for God's sake, no comments, a complete airhead. lol

I was in the same predicament except I'm not engaged with my girlfriend. Anyways keep your head up bro you're not the only one struggling, and you'll make it it's just a matter of how bad you want it. I think you should tell your GF about your situation because if she truly does love you, she will understand your Situation and accept you for who you are. -

1 pointugh!! couldn't keep on reading!!! .... "not fair"? well it's not like it was our fault ( I'm not saying my parents did wrong by bringing me here) but they are making it seem like it's our fault that the economy in CA is getting worse because of us!! we also work hard and many of us take the jobs that they DON'T want! what would it be of this country if we weren't here to work those jobs that they don't want...here in California (at least in the region i live) i see a lot of young people(DREAMers) working out in the fields working under really hot temperatures and for long hours just to get enough money to support their families and pay for school and I see a sign that says "the citrus capital of the world" and all I think is "the citrus capital of the world"? and thanks to who?? ... and to be honest I don't see any "white" people working at these type of jobs!! I know it's a bit out of topic (the article's topic) but it just gets me mad and saddens to see all those prideful people who want compassion from others but aren't willing to be compassionate towards others! and just complaining about us being the ones harming the economy :/ ... sorry I had to let it out

1 pointthats most likely to happen, for what ive seen. people who do not have enough proof for certain years are getting RFEs. but sometimes its a matter of luck, because theres no way the people that work for uscis can go over all the apps. i bet some of them skip a few just to get the job done, and other go over every small detail usually old folks.

1 pointsame here, when i called the uscis some black lady ansewered me. so i told her that when i got my biometrics taken the same day as one of my friends, and that the information was pretty much identical because we graduated from the same high school we are from the same country. as a matter of fact he got more tickets than i do. and she just said well it dont matter we are working as fast as we can and all you can do is wait till march, ohhh really and whos gonna pay my bills?
-
1 pointWhere did you send your stuff too? I'm in the same boat... Only I did my Bios on nov 19th.. and nothing yet >.< I sent my stuff to az lockbox but they said they were sending it to the Cali center.

1 pointGreat, but she forgets that no one is asking for it, all we want is the chance to be able to get out loans and pay for them. If you have no SSN, how in the world do you apply for a loan for college? I just despise people who make judgement without being in the situation. And if people in CA have the opportunity, it is not because they begged for it. How many Americans quit school everyday and don't even care for a better future? And here we are, practiacally begging to pay taxes, to have a SSN, to contribute to the country, and the judging does not stop. And "fairness" is just ridiculous, we are not asking to step in front of everyone else, we are just asking for a chance, as a great majority of us came to this country through no fault of our own, and this is all we know. And then, there is that little thing there...hm, her father came here? Great, so, you wouldn't be born here if your dad didn't come here in the first place? How decent of your father to give you a better life, or you should probably give up your citizenship and go back to your country of origin, because really, you are an immigrant, kind of, right?. Oh, no? Ok then!

It seriously drives me nuts to see how there are so many talented hardworking people on this forum and there are probably way many more out there who haven't joined and most of us have to be content with half of what we can really accomplish. I guess that is the case in most aspects in life when you aspire to bigger and better things all the time. But it's nice to meet you all here. Because I can see our hardwork and ambition will soon prove who we are to those who have the chance and hardly ever aknowledge it. -
