So today I received my work permit can I apply to get a social tomorrow? Or do I have to wait a little bit more?

I'm literally pooping on myself right now. I went to check my case status and it said "Card/Document Production"!! They just updated it today!! When I saw that, I literally got on the floor and did a backwards somersault. Not kidding. I'm soooooooo excited!!!!!! Just gotta wait for the card and letters now! Yay! While waiting for this, I always remembered something that someone said on this forum: "God doesn't start something without finishing it" and it was hard to be patient, but it truly does pay off in the end and you appreciate it so much more. I also just want to say thank you to this forum for providing all the support and information

just got my approval today through text, which was about 5 months 28 days. Hope to hear success of others soon!!

I was worried about the same thing but I was just recently approved. I also had a work permit that expired in 2002 and SSN that I have been using for school and other stuff. Don't worry to much about it, some application might have to go under extended background checks and one of them might be you. If you have sent enough evidence that satisfies the requirement, I would just be patient because for some (including me) the wait period has been 6mnt+. G'luck

I just got done speaking with a level 2 officer at USCIS , n he told me I should have and answer by April 10th . Since they received my RFE on January 25th . He also said my background is cleared n everything looks good so far. Just someone is working on my case. I hope I get approved

Anybody that got approved right after the 6 months? And from Vermont? Is been 6 months and 2 days since they received my application and still on initial review.: / how much longer do we have to wait!!!

Is there anything that worries u as to why u haven't been approved yet? My worries are.. I used a fake id to get a job, including name, dob. The other one is that i claimed child tax credit in past taxes. And last worry is my application fell off the counter and nobody can see it lol.. How about u? If u want to share...of not, i will understand..

That happened to my bf he got the tracking # the next day; it took exactly a week from production to arrival.A little patience Perla, it'll get there

Send in late August, received Sept 4 and did Biometrics on October 2. Been waiting almost 7 months.

I don't think they give you a tracking number because they sent mine out today too and it didn't give me any sort of tracking number

You dont have to go formal, you're not getting a pic taken for a SS card...

I made a second service request after the 15 days of the first one and the letter that they sent me was more concrete about my case "Thank you for your inquiring. We will pull your file for review. You should receive a follow up notice withing 15 days indicating the result of our review". And I got approve days later. So I think it does help doing a service request !!!

Not much we can tell you. There are quite a few people waiting 7+ months and there are no options right now besides waiting. The people who have tried doing Service Requests haven't gotten a different answer than being told that the Service Center is working as fast as they can.

Congratulations, you had me worried as if I'm your parent. Anyway...its really good to know that it all ended well for you.

You don't just move knowing damn well that you're waiting for important documents. Before you even started packing your stuff to move to a new place, you should of made sure that this is taken care off. You have to be on top of things, don't just wait for some lawyer to take care of it. I don't mean to sound like your father... but seriously!! What you should do now is try to reach out to the new tenants or owners and find out if they've received your mail.
