Uscis Adds An Official Daca Processing Time
stolenlacs and 2 others reacted to JoseG for a post in a topic
It seems like they're going with a 6 month processing time for DACA, which is the same for all of the 4 Service Centers. Now the Customer Service people can't tell you that there isn't an official processing time for DACA because they just added one. If you can't see the form type I-821D, clear your browser cache and the cookies. -

What Kinds Of Jobs?
roadrunner11 and one other reacted to aloola for a post in a topic
Well I have really had much work experience because I just graduated out of high school in 2012 but I've sold baked goods. And I worked in a factory for 2 months before starting college. Overall, I haven't found myself in a position where I've needed to work. I am extremely grateful that my parents have had the ability to support me and the costs I incur up to now. I really admire those who have worked and gpne to school at the same time even before all these opportunites came to us. It is amazing to me to think that some DREAMers have acquired their Bachelor's and even Master's! All without financial aid or without these documents we receive through DACA. Inspiring indeed -

There must a reason why they decided against deferring action in your particular case... You should receive the notice by next week and it will specify the reason why they made their decision... However, if you feel they made a mistake, follow the instructions given to you, or call and talk to a representative... Don't lose hope yet (if you feel they made a mistake). If you do have a criminal record, and the offense is serious, there's nothing much you can do with the Deferred Action program...I would suggest that you look for alternatives to sort out your legal situation. I wish you success, regardless of your decision...Keep your head up, everything will turn out for the best! -

Deferred Action Taking Too Long
cmoyano and one other reacted to jquintero for a post in a topic
Still waiting.... Well I sent them an email; As I mentioned in my last post and this is what they said: "USCIS records show that your case is pending background check clearance. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner while also ensuring public safety and national security. A small percentage of applications and petitions have unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to speculate when the background check will be completed. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as quickly as possible. If you have not heard anything within two months, please contact customer service to complete a service request for status." Keep in mind I got a response from them on March 5th.... Also I have absolutely NO criminal background; finished high school a month early, went to a technical university and finished with a 4.0 GPA AND honors... I can assure them that they have no reason shape or form to think I'm a "public safety and national security" threat. I think everyone that is patiently waiting is on the same grounds as me or even make better qualifiers then me; but I'm well aware, that no matter where you stand in this or no matter when you turned in your application/Bios you still have to wait. On another note; Its beyond words how frustrating it is to hear a person that applied in January did the Bios and got accepted the following month say " hang in there" or "be patient". That is because they have no clue how it feels to be waiting for over 6 months for an opportunity that we have all been waiting for the moment we got here and not hear anything other then continuing to stare at the "initial review" of death page. (I'm NOT referring this to any one on this form I say this in general) Despite everything above, something even more frustrating to the point of depression is to hear someone give up. No matter how much anxiety, anger, and despair this is causing us we should never give up.The time will come when we will no longer have to stare at the "initial review" page, but focus on getting our dream job. So even as much as we hate hearing this we must be patient and remember that "The best things in life don't come with out a struggle" Once again God is good, with much respect to all and the best wishes, Jaime Quintero P.S I will be calling USCIS, in the coming weeks to see about "completing a service request for status" (Don't doubt one bit that they will tell me the same thing, but worth a try) -

Do You Think All The California Cases Are Taking Longer B/c There Is Sooomany ??
engineer2mike reacted to Fresita22 for a post in a topic
Applied september 27 Did bios on october 30th And still under initial review this sucks big time California service center you suck -
1 pointIt sucks that your applications were denied, but that doesn't mean all is lost. If you were denied for insufficient evidence then that means that you still qualify for DACA and you can re-apply if you can gather more evidence.

Cheer up! immigration reform is around the corner. Dreamers will.be first in line. -
1 pointNo need to wait, that was at the beginning when the operators at the ssn center were not familiar with the process. You can go the next day if wanted.

College Career
Santi reacted to roadrunner11 for a post in a topic
I agree with both splif and santi - Pursue the career that interests you regardless of the immagration status at this point. When I went to college I had no hope of becoming legal and still I did what I LOVE I am grateful I was given the chance to attend college and not let the status hold me back. Life is unpredictable and full of suprises. Best wishes and take classes that interest you regardless of being pre-requisites for your major or not. -

roadrunner11 reacted to Santi for a post in a topic
My suggestion - Develop a shortlist of careers you would like to pursue...you have at least 2 semesters to declare your major, because the first 2 years are composed of requirements (college algebra, History, Biology, etc etc). So don't rush it... Make sure you know what it is that feel like doing for a long time, or that gives you the flexibility to pursue what is that you want do. But, most importantly, major in what makes you happy and be the BEST at it...period! -

Go for it man. If that is what you like, don't let your current immigration status stop you. Besides, you are just starting so you have another at least 4 more years to go. God only knows what your immigration status would be by then, maybe you might even be a PR by then . FYI, some gov posts don't require clearance depending where you work and what type of work you do. G'luck with everything. -
1 pointOmg, thank you guys for your words. I truly believe I meet all the requirements for the DACA program. No, I dont have a criminal history, not even a speeding ticket. I have my HS diploma and I was brought to the U.S when I was one year of age. I dont know if maybe I didnt provide enough of the evidence they needed or something along those lines. Other than that, I dont get it at all. I guess I just have to wait (once again) for that letter. *sigh :/

1 pointI agree with @Cali...Luna and Aled...(Great post Splif!) Wait and see what happens... Food for thought: Hannibal was a military commander and strategist from Carthage (modern day Tunisia) who, at some point in time, was at war with the Roman Empire. He was determined to bring the empire down, therefore he mobilized his huge army (cavalry had Elephants) across the Mediterranean, Spain, and France on the way to Rome. Then, when he encountered the Alps, his generals advised him to find another way, since he would not be able to mobilize the elephants through the mountains, to which he replied: 'I shall either find a way, or make one...' He eventually did...

As of yesterday, I took my application to the post office. Today at around 3p.m. it departed via Express Mail. Let my waiting begin. Thanks for your support fellow members! -
1 pointI don't think so. It's a U.S. territory and you will only come across TSA agents. All you need to show them is your ID. If for whatever reason you come across Border Patrol, you just have to prove your Legal Presence to them. You aren't traveling from a foreign country into the U.S. or vice versa.
-
1 pointI'm sure it can be done with proper contacts. I would be careful though, the fake number could belong to someone else and that would get you in trouble, lot of trouble. You can transfer your history from an ITIN to your SSN without issues.
-
1 pointThanks! I checked DMV from my state (NJ) and I found out that when you'r e older than 17 but younger than 21 you have to get probatory license. With this probatory license you have to practice unsupervised driving for a least a year before obtaining the basic drivers license. This probatory license has these restrictions: Display a reflectorized decal on each license plate (front/back); decals available at motor vehicle agencies, $4 per pair No driving after 11:01 p.m. and before 5:00 a.m. Parent(s), guardian(s) or dependant(s) are allowed as passengers. A dependant is a permit or probationary driver's child, not siblings Only one additional passenger is allowed unless accompanied by a parent or guardian You can't use cell phones, hand held video games or any other hands-free interactive, wireless communication device

1 pointHow about we inform ourselves before saying such things? I do not have a ssn and I do own two credit cards. My credit score is above 700 as well. All you need is an ITIN. So yeah it is possible and NO you do NOT need a SSN. Just for the record, one is a visa and the other one is an American Express.
-
1 pointthere is no FAST and EASY way to build credit. it takes time and patience and VERY VERY good money management. it also takes a lot of responsibility. if you plan to open a credit card, buy things, then not pay for what you bought, you're basically stealing. this is one article that i read when it come to establishing credit. i think it's useful. http://www.ehow.com/how_4613092_establish-credit-fast.html
