Senator Says Boston Attack Should Factor In Immigration Debate !!!!!!

I agree - My opinion: Work hard, earn your bread and sanctify your work. 'let him not eat, him who does not work' - if you are able to work, work (work is also studying). I am capitalist at heart, therefore, earn your livelihood regardless of your job as long as it is honest...no honest job ever demoralized a human! -

Boston Bombers Of Chechen Ethnicity - The Impact On Cir
Wisedevil22 and one other reacted to Gezinha for a post in a topic
I wish I could agree with you Wisedevil, but you know how people are, they will use anything to destroy CIR, they can twist the facts so well for anything in this country, it is like magic. I believe it will pass, but there will be some tweeks, we will definitely not have many rights. As long as my husband and I have a DL, SSN, and a right to come and go see our families, and eventually a green card, I am fine with it. Citizenship will come with time. -

I definitely do not have a sense of entitlement. And I hate people who do. I believe if you are a citizen in the greatest nation of this world it is a PRIVILEDGE to be able to work and support yourself and your family. The citizens of this country are known around the world as ignorant, stupid, lazy and arrogant, and that is not true for the vast majority. But getting in line to take advantage of SS benefits just because receiving a $400 check evey week is better than flipping burguers for $300 a week, is shameful for any citizen of any country. In Brazil people work a whole month to receive $600 reais, which equals $300 dollars, and yes it is accordingly to what the price of things are there, but it is the equivalent of people here accepting minimun wage and working just for that. And let me tell you, I personally do not know one signle American citizen who will work for less than $15 bucks/hr here in MA, far less for minimun wage. And that is the main reason why so many American citizens choose to receive welfare and most non documented immigratns always have jobs and do not live off the government. Which boggles my mind because isn't it more shameful to receive money from the government when you are perfectly physically capable of findind a job? It doesn't matter that you find that job demeaning, it is still a job, but no, for some mystifying reason, they would rather stand in line for welfare than to actually stand in line to apply for McD's or BK. They would rather get "free money" for nothing, than far less money than they think they deserve for honest work. Plain and simple, that group of people, to which I personally refer to as "free loaders", are despicable, and they are not the majority of the country, thank God, but what frustrates people like me and Itzel is that we don't have a legal right to work and even go to school in the country where we grew up, and these people take this for granted, and in this situation, it is maddening seeing a chance like this thrown away because it is not something that you can transfer to the next person, an American citizen just wastes it, literally, throws it away for welfare instead of making something of his or herself and going through the rough like us. ( I'm assuming this is how you feel, Itzel, sorry if I am putting your name here and you don't feel like that, please call me on it if that is not how you feel.) There are stereo types and generalizations in every culture and every country, but this is more about the opportunity to take chance to better ourselves, and definitely not to take advantage of the government. And by doing that, and having that chance, we will never have to depend on the government. -

I agree with the generalizations part, but I can't help but still want to generalize some white (trash) dare I say the word trash???? US citizens who have all the privileges we dream of having (citizenship, work immediately upon turning 16, apply for federal finacial aid, get DL at 16, etc...) and dont value it and instead prefer to get in line for welfare and are accusing us illegals of coming over to do just that...sorry personal rant here..but its true... -

I know I know agree with u guys,my bad I'm just frustrated sick nd tired of all the BS going on in this country since Monday :/ -
2 pointsDude! C'mon - I understand your frustration, but this is uncalled for. Several reasons: Although latinos are the most popular immigrants in the US, we are not the only ones...people from all over the world are waiting for comprehensive immigration reform, just like us - Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe Arabs? They are Muslim of Chechen origin, but they are Radical, Extremist, Muslims. I know many muslims who are just super awesome and great friends - Arabs and Africans Hopefully this won't have an adverse effect on the debate (although I think it will), and hopefully I was able to clarify some of your confusions. Saying that are all Arabs are Terrorists is akin to saying that all Mexicans are lazy, all Colombians are drug dealers, etc etc. Just saying - let's avoid generalizations

Why do people keep asking "do you have a deportation notice"? Why does it matter? When Obama first talked about immigration he clearly said that people that if you had a deportation notice and you've been living here for some years now it'll not affect you and that they'll be deleted. Either way if you came here as a child and got caught by immigration they don't take fingerprints of minors. -
1 point(Sigh) Ok - as many of you are probably aware, the authorities identified the two suspects (one of them deceased) which are from Chechen origin. For those of you wondering where is Chechnya, it is a 'republic' of Russia - by Republic, it should be interpreted as an autonomous region where the majority of the population is of an ethnic minority. In addition, Russia allows them to have another language aside from Russian, and the region is also part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (former soviet republics). Here is a map: Chechnya is the #3 republic according to the map Chechnya has been infamous due to a separatist, radical Islamist group that want to establish the Caucasus Emirate (which would be comprised of the colored area described in the little picture above - not Georgia) and have strived to do it through violent means. The separatist group (read: Chechen Rebels) have been responsible for attacks in Central Asia and Russia due to tensions that have existed in the region for a long time between Chechens and Russians (since ~18th century). Why is this important, you ask? Well, the bombers were immigrants from Chechnya who came to the US and were naturalized. Now you catch the drift. During the time of significant, comprehensive immigration reform, the authors of the bombing were immigrants. They were not hispanic, latinos, asian, african, etc, but they were immigrants nonetheless. I just want to see your thoughts on how this might have a negative impact in the debate for immigration reform... Perhaps it won't stop the reform on its tracks, but it could spark a heated debate, in addition to amendments and changes to the bill. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

My Name Is Sotero Gonzalez Marin And I Am A Proud Mexicano.
michyx reacted to sotero_gonzalez for a post in a topic
Ive been in the U.S since i was 4 years old. All i remember from that life changing journey is that i was crammed in the trunk of a car for what seemed to be an eternity before arriving in the state of California, more especifically the city of Santa Ana. Growing up as an immigrant in Santa Ana wasnt all that bad until i got to high school. The dumb slurs about immigrants would get more irritating and more real. Ive always been proud of being a Mexicano, i am proud of my roots and my identity. Being like that always got me in trouble when i would hear negative things about immigrants because i always had something to say. While in high school i was a member of the Puente program. When it came time to apply to colleges and or scholarships, the harsh reality of being an immigrant sinked in. while everyone applied for their favsas and other government appointed grants, i had to settle for smaller ones where there were masses of others competing for as much as they could to apply towards their college educations. At that point i started to get a bit discouraged about the whole college idea. Ive always been a good student, school was always one of my biggest interests, but hearing stories of people like me going above and beyond to get a degree and not being able to get a job in their field of study was an enormous tragedy. Not wanting to deal with all of that dissapointment i got a job after i graduated high school and working became my priority. I thought that making my own money and being independent would be much easier than trying achieve and education that at the time would not benifit me in any way to get a job, i had a rude awakening when i became a part of the immigrant work force of california. In a society where a social security number gives you access to a drivers license, a cell phone contract and a job, things were beginning to be really hard for me. Asking others for favors like getting me a loan for a car or applying for a cell phone started to get old really fast. Driving with the fear of getting pulled over also took its toll on me. it seemed everywhere i turned and everything i tried to do was never going to be enough because of my status. Seeing others around me that were legal waste away their opportunity of going to college and getting an education really frustrated me. I would always ask myself, "why me?" "why couldnt i be one of the lucky ones to not have to deal with any of this?" Everything happens for a reason right? im still trying to find the reason for this. After working countless jobs from burger joints to fire and water restoration, I finally found one where I could work without worrying about my status. Its not the best job in the world nor does it pay well and on top of that I have to put up with the constant verbal abuse of the oowner since he uses my status to his advantage, but its better than not having a job. i decided to go to college where i have been going part time since 2008. It hasnt been easy working full time and going to school, but i wont give up, or atleast not yet. When the defferred action was passed it seemed too good to be true. After all this time something in our favor comes along and gets approved. This is the only thing that i have that can change my life. The big break i have been waiting for since my junior year of high school. hopefully it all goes well and i get approved sooner rather than later. Hope is still alive within me. thanks to all that read this and thank you all of you that put in a lot of time and effort on this forum providing others with help and hope. -

1 pointWhat's interesting is that the Chechens have a problem with Russia, not US. Perhaps it is because the were Islamic Extremists that they did what they did...but remember: extremists have also attacked London, some other countries in Europe, India, and constantly strike in Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa...I wouldn't isolate the US.

roadrunner11 reacted to Santi for a post in a topic
I only sent my a copy of my school transcripts, which spanned for like 5 years, and included my college diploma and other certificates I received during that time. To prove that I was here at the cutoff date (June/July 2012), I provided information from TMobile and some of my gym receipts. That seemed to work in my case, since I have already been approved. Many others have also provided transcripts. Therefore, it will be much easier for them if you submit something official that basically proves that you resided in the States since '07. Sending a ton of information makes it a little harder on the case officers to cross-check the bigger packages. However, if there is no other alternative, you do what you can to make sure you are DACAmented. -

Along with my application I sent out many certificates I've received, I have gotten 2 scholarships, which shows im a good student, idk why my case can be so hard, unless they haven't really taken a look at it, which is really depressing. 1 pointYes me!!! It will be 8 months on April 28th. What upsets me is that when I called they told me they are working on applications from august but from the looks of it all the other service centers are doing that except California. I have seen people approved from September and October within these last couple of days from California. So I doubt California is working on August applications.

1 point2.7 trillion? Holy cow...that's a lot of cha-ching! The requirements are not difficult to meet if you have been a good standing member of society, it really isn't. Traffic violations are the only things we should have as Dreamers, us ,people who have been brought up to be in absolutely no trouble with the law due to the familiar consequences, should NOT be involved in any kind of drug, battery, assult or theft related problems. We were brouht up considerably better than that, our latino parents are tougher than many parents around the world, we should know NOT to break the law. This bill will pass, and not everyone will get what they want, like they said, but if you qualify for it, but do not pass a background check due to a crime, then unfortunately, there is no one else to blame but...you know who. Every action has consequences. The fees are fair, no complaints there. The conditions aren't very much, but being here ilegally, again, we can't ask for every single thing American Citizens have by birth right. Other countries wouldn't think twice about deporting any of us. America is compassionate, even though it is not only because they are a country of immigrats as well, but you know, because they need all of us too. And RUBIO.... YOU ASSHOLE...NOT FUNNY!!! Let's secure the border, sure, great idea, but then if it fails, the American public hates us because the government didn't enforce the law years later. And I hope that we only have to wait 6 months to apply, and that they can get shit together at the border and have honest soldier that will stop taking coyote payments to let people through and into the country, they are causing part of the problem. And the December, 2011 cut off...that is not right, this is like another 100,000 people who will be here ilegally, and what about them? Do they expect them to simply pack up and go home? That is leaving dirty laundry, and dirty laundry stinks, and this is gonna come back to bite them in the butt. Just saying... Overall, it is a good bill as it is, but I am sure we will end up with less than what is there. Well, that is some of what I think.

1 pointIt doesn't matter if you went to College or not...what matters is that if you didn't, you have 5 years to get some sort of advanced degree in order to qualify for PR... I believe that they are giving us this opportunity to basically become skilled labor, and not just another average joe/jane...Hence, the requirements... Since I have always supported a higher education, I encourage every single individual that has not had the opportunity to get some sort of post secondary education, to go ahead and enroll in any program (associate's, bachelor's, technical, etc etc), whenever your particular condition allows you too... It is an investment of time and money, but it will more than pay off in the future... However, Caveat Emptor... Beware of for profit institutions that are super expensive and basically drain your funds, and become a super long term liability...these are U of Phoenix, Everest, ITT, etc... I would suggest attending an accredited institution like a community college, junior college, for tech/associate's, and accredited universities like State Us or Private Us...There is a huge difference between private and for-profit... Here is a documentary that will basically shed light into these for profit institutions...after this, you are more than welcome to make your decision...just wanted you to become more informed in regards to higher ed: http://video.pbs.org/video/1485280975/ It is about 50 mins - but you will be 50 mins smarter
