got approve u guys i dint recieve a email or text i usally check the website for my case status and my permit got approve it shoud be here within 30 days

Ive been in the U.S since i was 4 years old. All i remember from that life changing journey is that i was crammed in the trunk of a car for what seemed to be an eternity before arriving in the state of California, more especifically the city of Santa Ana. Growing up as an immigrant in Santa Ana wasnt all that bad until i got to high school. The dumb slurs about immigrants would get more irritating and more real. Ive always been proud of being a Mexicano, i am proud of my roots and my identity. Being like that always got me in trouble when i would hear negative things about immigrants because i always had something to say. While in high school i was a member of the Puente program. When it came time to apply to colleges and or scholarships, the harsh reality of being an immigrant sinked in. while everyone applied for their favsas and other government appointed grants, i had to settle for smaller ones where there were masses of others competing for as much as they could to apply towards their college educations. At that point i started to get a bit discouraged about the whole college idea. Ive always been a good student, school was always one of my biggest interests, but hearing stories of people like me going above and beyond to get a degree and not being able to get a job in their field of study was an enormous tragedy. Not wanting to deal with all of that dissapointment i got a job after i graduated high school and working became my priority. I thought that making my own money and being independent would be much easier than trying achieve and education that at the time would not benifit me in any way to get a job, i had a rude awakening when i became a part of the immigrant work force of california. In a society where a social security number gives you access to a drivers license, a cell phone contract and a job, things were beginning to be really hard for me. Asking others for favors like getting me a loan for a car or applying for a cell phone started to get old really fast. Driving with the fear of getting pulled over also took its toll on me. it seemed everywhere i turned and everything i tried to do was never going to be enough because of my status. Seeing others around me that were legal waste away their opportunity of going to college and getting an education really frustrated me. I would always ask myself, "why me?" "why couldnt i be one of the lucky ones to not have to deal with any of this?" Everything happens for a reason right? im still trying to find the reason for this. After working countless jobs from burger joints to fire and water restoration, I finally found one where I could work without worrying about my status. Its not the best job in the world nor does it pay well and on top of that I have to put up with the constant verbal abuse of the oowner since he uses my status to his advantage, but its better than not having a job. i decided to go to college where i have been going part time since 2008. It hasnt been easy working full time and going to school, but i wont give up, or atleast not yet. When the defferred action was passed it seemed too good to be true. After all this time something in our favor comes along and gets approved. This is the only thing that i have that can change my life. The big break i have been waiting for since my junior year of high school. hopefully it all goes well and i get approved sooner rather than later. Hope is still alive within me. thanks to all that read this and thank you all of you that put in a lot of time and effort on this forum providing others with help and hope.

Sorry i didnt reply earlier..well everything went great!!! I had my at santa ana too..i got there early and there are no cellphones allowed..i just took my passport and my evidence which they didnt even looked at..well i was interview by an asian lady and two more persons where there too one was an officer and the other an apprentice i guess..they made me swear and then she asked me about my application..name,DOB..address and so on..she review everythin from the application..and that was it..nothing about my evidence..she was really nice..and they just told me that i will be receving a notice by mail

Well i came to the United States at the age of 4. My mother and father went back and forth to the U.S and Mexico. I Have 4. Brothers Which 2 Of us were born in Mexico. The Rest Are U.S Citizens. The time my mother got pregnant of me was the time she decided to go to mexico and well i was born over there, Which im not ashamed of being Mexican what so ever. But my parents were never able to file all paperwork so i could become a resident, im a 21 Year old mother of a 2 year old daughter and now that this opportunity has come for us, Who want a better Life is the chance to get it. To be able to support one another and not depend on others, I just recently applied for the DACA and I'm currently waiting for my biometrics appointment and i hope it all goes well . Just got back from the DMV and passed the behind the wheel test! The process is all complete, just awaiting the DL card now (should come next week). It's an early b-day present (24th is my b-day)! All this in time so I can legally drive the movie equipment truck to the Lake Tahoe area in California! What a great looking Memorial Day weekend: getting swerved on Friday and high tailing it to the mountains for a job!

Good luck minna, nothin is inpossible in this world. keep your hopes up and try to network with people around you that can help in any form. sometimes its not what u know its who u know. i have been blessed with the fact that where i live i know alot of people with power and knowlege and i have been able to better myself as a individual and economicly. so cheer up i waited 8 mths for the approval and just yesterday i got approved. my mentality was this. ive lived 26 years without a social i can easily live 26 and beyond more years without it. Keep that in mind the only person that can hold you back from your dreams is yourself. good luck and if u need any more positive feedback let me know.

I sure understand ur feeling. And especially that me as mom cant and provide for her financially. And not being able to study at the college u always wanted to study, It was hard. I just hate how 3 of my brothers that are actually born here dont do nothing with there lifes when us people from other country's, Are the ones who want to work hard to get far in life and try our best but for us nothing is worth it if we are not From the U.S . And they didnt mention anything about my job or the job permit..and it took less then 20min

Thanks girls...i didnt ask why i was being interview but i was told that is just procedure..and they didnt ask me anythin about my job or the work permit..they just ask me every question that is on the application not the one for the work permit..the other one and that was it...but every case is different..good luck!!! And yes i hope i ger approved soon

Where do you live now ? A friend of mine was married last summer with an american citizen, she did not have to go to juarez and she is already a resident !

i will have to continue to check that out.. dude i been waitng for close to 8mths and i was amazed that it actually happened and yes it feels great now to move on with life so many opportunities are yet to come and our dreams are endless now GRACIAS A DIOS QUE NOS ESTA CUIDANDO Y NOS DA FUERSAS!!

Ted Cruz is an ass! Enough said. "We are going to protect the taxpayers".. I may be mistaken, but doens't the majority of us illegals pay taxes anyways? Doesn't it get taken out of our paychecks like it or not? Yeah, he must protect ALL taxpayers, not pick and choose who they want to protect in order to protect his future votes! So tired of this bullshit, we don't have a right to demand this, but we have a right to respect and not have these absurd statements thrown around.It makes us look worse in the eyes of this nation than they already think we are. And obviously, we only look terrible because of people like Ted Cruz!

once USPS issues a tracking number and it's posted on your status then it should take a couple days for it to get to you.

I agree with engineer2mike. Attending community colleges is cheaper, and you can get your basics and pre-requisites out of the way at a fraction of the cost, then transfer to a 4 yr university to finish your degree.

thanks for sharing your story with us! I know how you feel, felt the same when I was in high school. It's really disappointing to see others that can, not taking advantage of the opportunities that are given to them :/ but don't ever give up!
