1 pointFor those who were granted deferred action and obtained EAD, and then obtain a SSN, do not forget to transfer your credit history (if any) to your new SSN, and also update all your financial/education/etc. institutions about your new SSN. Lastly, you are required to rescind your ITIN once you obtain a SSN. Here are some helpful links: transfer credit history to new SSN http://www.ehow.com/...signed-ssn.html rescind ITIN http://www.immihelp....etting-ssn.html also for men, you have to let the Selective Service know about your new SSN http://www.sss.gov/default.htm

1 pointI am glad to help. I also like to double confirm this type of important stuff. I actually haven't sent mine yet because I just got my social a couple of months ago. But I'll do it this week. And yes, you must to send the letter informing the IRS. The SS administration does not do this for you automatically. Everybody I know has done it already. A note about the ITIN: It's not really meant to file taxes from working, that's what a social is for. Its real purpose is to report any other earnings (that are not wages from working), such as gains on investments, gains on saving accounts, and to be able to open bank accounts. But the IRS is happy to receive our tax money nonetheless so they don't prosecute people who use the ITIN for work taxes.

1 pointedwin89, About the IRS, you do have to let them know about your new social. Read this: http://www.lclaa.org/index.php/lclaa-blog/entry/post-daca This is well known. You have to send a letter with a copy of your itin and your social and a letter stating you rescind you itin. Don't use your ITIN anymore. Doing this will not put you in any trouble, they already knwo you've been using an ITIN to file taxes, even though you were not even supposed to be working. My questions was more aimed at our contributions to SS and Medicare, for retirement purposes. I emailed a friend yesterday and he told me he went in the SS administration office and asked them to transfer his contributions, and they did it without a problem. So I think I'll do it to.

1 pointEach individuals case is different. Even though you guys sent the same evidence, your names aren't the same, so one person might take longer for their background checks to clear, so the applications don't always move along together.
-
1 pointI don't believe that's the real reason. Some people take longer because of common names matching with someone who isn't in good standards with the United States and because of that, they have to do an extensive background check which requires a lot more time. Some cases just sit there until someone picks it up, just because you're waiting it does not mean they are already doing your background check. Good luck and hope you hear from them soon.

So guys finally had my interview!!! Everything went great! The agents were extremely nice and asked me some of the questions on the application... they also asked me if I had used a fake social and if it belonged to someone. They asked me what I have been doing since I graduated from high school. If I was married or had kids. I was very nervous, but they made me feel comfortable. My interview was at 1:30 pm, and by 4 pm I checked the uscis website, and I was on the card production stage!!! Two hours later, both of my applications were approved!!! Can't wait to get my work permit! !!!!! -

Update*** Additional questions they might ask you: how you crossed the boarder, does the SS# belong to someone you know, and maybe even what have you done since you graduated from High School. At first it was just the application questions, now they are adding more questions. We don't know why, but we believe it depends on your case and how nervous or suspicious you look. Once again, be PREPARED. The interview process seems to be your ticket to approval. Also, most people are getting approved within 2 days and receiving their work permits in approximately a week!!!! Seems like all the stress pays off!!! -

Ok guys, update*** So I have been doing my homework, and been asking people around the internet here and there about this whole interview process. So basically this is what goes on during the interview: You go in, show your ID and your notice you got in the mail. DO NOT take in your phone, as they will make you take it back to the car and this could make you late for your interview. You wait for a little while and they call you in. They make you swear that you will be telling the truth. They take you inside an office. They tell you it is just a procedure, something random. Then they ask everything about the I-821 D application (the 6 page one) Nothing about the I765 or i765WS (work permit) applications. While asking you, they are watching your every move, so if you do stuff like tilt your head (something that shows you are in doubt) they will ask you more about that question. They go over every single question, so you might want to take a look at that application question by question and make sure you know what you answered. No one should have a problem because you should know the questions since they are about your life. Of course never mention any details if they ask you how you got here. You can say you don't recall, you were little. Back to the interview, it is very brief, 15-20 minutes. The agents are not wearing a uniform, they are normal people. After the agent is finished reviewing every question, he or she will tell you that you should receive a notice within the next 30 days. It actually takes 3 weeks. And this is it! Extra: You might want to take more evidence in case they ask you, but this really hasn't happened to anyone. They do ask you if it's the same evidence as the one you provided. And they do not review it. But do take a copy of your whole packet and the originals just to be on the safe side Good luck and be prepared!!! I know it is stressful and dreadful, but everything is looking great for us! Let's not panic! -
