Who told you a CA license is valid for 6 years? I think your confused or they gave you incorrect information. California issues 6 years identification 5 years license. In my understanding when getting a temporary Id your license will be the same

@baby23 Ooops I got it backwards !!! I meant to say 5 year license and 6 years ID.... And basically my question or concern is that if they gave other people license for 5 years and ID for 6 then why did they give me my ID for only 2 years...the rules should apply to everyone the same not depending on who u talk to at the DMV

it all depends who processes your app at the DMV. some have gotten it for the length of their EAD but the majority of people have gotten it for 5 yrs. I got mine in the mail about 2 weeks after i passed my test.

but like i said, its depends on the person who processes your app and looks at your EAD.

@pswa83 I heard it was 5 years for ID and 6 for license and I got my ID today and it expires when my EAD expires....but that is so lame tho!!!! It needs to be the same for everyone because it's a California law not depend on what DMV u go to or who processes it ....makes no freakin sence !!

Lol she probably forgot to tell you. At my house the same thing happens all the time. They leave the mail somewhere random and then I think there's nothing for me. It's irritating.

Go to USCIS and in your status they should say that you card was mailed and the put on there a track number about 22 numbers long!

@Rawf Well I went to school to be a medical assistant and where I did my externship they wanted to hire me so I took the chance and went to their corporation office to get interviewed and all that but they wanted a copy of my social and DL which I have none so I explained to them that I was in a process...so thanx to god they told me I was gona get hired and they were Gona wait for me and all my paperwork (social) ...so I'm going to work but they can't start my pay roll until I give...

You gotta renew your EAD like 2-3 months before the current one expires and also notify your employer about your new EAD
