Pswa my grandma filed for both my mom and I and we got approved but she died a month before we got approved. According to our lawyer when they reach the filing date for our category we can file a humanitarian visa type because of her death but it is very hard to be approved. So, I just applied for DACA instead. It took me 2 months to get approved since I first sent my application (August 17th-October15th).

Yup my injury was the unhappy triad with MCL, ACL tears and miniscus damage so it sucked But my orthopedist was great and I did PT for a good year and I am back on the trails. I am tempted to sign up for a race somewhere out of state now.

I agree with pswa83 we can and should use our past experience as long as we left in good terms from those jobs. I personally wrote all the jobs and relevant volunteer work that could help me get a job in my field of study. Jose that was really informative thanks for posting. @everyone - Just a litte more patience. We all waited at least 5 years for this. Please keep busy, get involved with non-profit projects or help others file DACA. I know the waiting period is nervewrecking and all sorts of thoughts cross our minds but remember everyday you are a step closer. So, start planning for your future. I wished I would have looked into jobs before getting DACA just to get the feel for them and start going to interviews and stuff. It is a lot of work and the job market is super competitive. I got my EAD since Oct 22 and I am still job searching, Anyways good luck to everyone!!!

Hi there, I would advise you to check private schools. They might seem expensive at first, but they usually have merit type scholarships AND their financial aid might come from private donors so you can apply for some. I attended a liberal arts private college and I was able to get 2/3 of tuition paid for with private scholarships, merit scholarships and some financial aid from the school's scholarship fund. Also, there are lots of private foundations that help you regardless of your status. I would suggest applying to local private scholarships. And yes, get a job like being a waitress because tips will end up making your hour salary very worth it. I had 2 jobs in college and one of them was a waitressing job.
