Hey I was wondering how to get my number before the actual SSN card arrives in the mail? I just got a receipt from the lady at the SSA office and it doesn't have the number on there. Thanks!

You guys I feel like we should compile our personal experiences on what is like to be a young immigrant brought to the US without a choice in a memoir. Some ignorant people think it is black or white when it comes to illegal immigration but we are evidence of the gray areas in this issue. Living a lie is not easy especially when people ask simple questions or even when just filling out a simple medical form. I feel like for those who choose to keep it as a secret -myself included- every single day there is something that reminds us of the uncertainty and mistery of the life as an illegal immigrant. I am so thankful for this opportunity. It has been such a long time since I felt real.

Just a thought. I never received a text about my case update when I got approved. I would suggest checking your status online during the morning.

Angela - I believe the only way to apply for OPT is when you have a student visa and have completed college. I am not sure if we can somehow be included.

Thanks pswa83! I can't wait to apply for one. And, I was able to get my license because I came with a visa and it wasn't hard to get a license, but since I lost my status I wasn't going to be able to renew it.

Question: How many documents are necessary to prove identity and such? I have my foreign passport and my license is that enough?

It was sent to the Nebraska Service Center. I think this center is the one that takes the longest. Where is yours at?
