  1. Car Loans

I was able to buy a car at a dealership last February but yes the credit check flags our SSN. My advice to you is take your SSN card and pay stubs from work. Show them that your SSN is valid. I had to do that with my sales person because he was nice and talked to the loan people and they were able to verify my social that way.
  2. Dui

You probably won't get your DACA taken away but you will need a good lawyer and make sure this is your last time driving under the influence. I am no one to judge people but seriously we are all trying to achieve our dreams here and a few drinks and being irresponsibly driving can definitely take them away. I hope this turns out ok for you but make sure to take advantage of this opportunity for the better. Not only do you jeopardize your DACA status but worse of all you are putting others lives at stake.
  3. 14 Months And Still Nothing

Dang sorry /: I hope something comes out for you soon. Having a common name seems to be a huge factor in determining how fast your application will process. If you don't have a criminal record you will be fine.
  4. Denied...what To Do Next?

I'm so sorry. I don't know what to tell you. Is there a way you can apply again? As far as I know daca cannot be appealed.
  5. For those with Netflix watch the 30 days show Season 2 episode called Immigration. Best documentary.

Very, very sad. It made me cry when I saw the children with the cockroaches and the well with the dirty water...that is horrible. I am from Brazil, and it wasn't nearly as bad as that where I am from. It is terrible that there is enough to go around for everyone but the world refuses to share because they feel entitled to it.

Omg Gezinha that's how I felt too. I was crying the whole time because it reminded me how fortunate I was here and even back home. The other side of the argument might see it as a politics problem but reality is we are human before we are citizens.

It is always a political issue only because politics involve money...it is absurd how everyone has gone from citizen to cattle...no respect, people have lost their humanity to the point of denying other what they have just because they can...truly horrifying situation.

  6. College Question

They request your social security number not only to prove your immigration status. All students are required because they have to send receipts to the IRS so they know where the money comes from. At the end of the year you will get a tax document that you can file w your income tax stuff. My parents used the forms to prove the helped me pay for it and it helped them get a better refund.
  7. Waiting....waiting..and Some More Waiting!?

You will be happy when you realize that life doesn't depend on this. Life is what you make it and there are others out there who are citizens but wished they had your health and life. I work with people who are in their 20s and dying and I realize how precious is making the best out of everyday and sharing it with others. I know coping is hard and the wait is not easy I cried too before but keep it up.
  8. Obamacare For Income Tax For Dreamers

Hello I received a class about this from work and yes everyone is required to have health insurance. What will happen the first year is the government along with the IRS will fine you $300 if you fail to get insurance. The following year the fine will almost double so it will be bigger amount every year. As a DACA recipient you can apply to private insurance or get insurance through your employer (much cheaper and better insurance). Hope this helps.
  9. Careers After Your Daca.

Aaaah you guys I got accepted to PA school. On my personal statement I briefly mentioned the fact I had been undocumented. It is beyond real for me at this point thinking I will be a healthcare provider in 2 years or so. At my interview session I was the only Hispanic and not even kidding the one who went to the least prestigious school. But I got a call of acceptance that same night. We are hard workers and passionate and that is why dreamers deserve this. Keep it up everyone !!!
  10. Hello :) I am officially accepted to PA school!!

Karen being a PA has been my dream for years and I don't even know how but I was able to finish undergrad before DACA and when I got my work permit I worked at a hospital for a year and then applied and got in. I am beyond stoked

  11. Dreamers Nd Obama Care ??!!

I work for a hospital and we received a training on this. Everyone will be required to have health insurance. If you are a citizen or permanent resident you will be able to buy it from the insurance exchange website from the government or you can apply to Medicaid/Medicare. Everyone including those who have temporary work permits and those who do not have a legal status here will be required to have insurance. If someone fails to have insurance for 2014 this person when filing for taxes will be fined $90 I believe. Now if this same person again does not buy health insurance in 2015 the fine goes up to about $300. I can't remember the exact amount but it will be deducted from your tax return and if your return is not enough they will make you pay. Basically we all need to get insurance to avoid the fines. I hope that helps.
  12. Excited!

    Congrats go get them now!!!!!
  13. Yes that would be good proof of you being here since you could get the bank to print you a statement for June and July so they see you were here on a continuous basis. If you can find one more piece of evidence like amazon activity or a purchase it would be awesome.
  14. Fall is here :) tomorrow is the anniversary of my approval :) best wishes everyone.

  15. Do you remember what you were doing that day? Do you have any tickets or receipts of purchases w your name?
  16. Careers After Your Daca.

I studied human biology and currently I am applying for my masters in PA studies, I am beyond excited to even be able to apply. I love the medical field there are some dreamers with cool careers around here
  17. Applying For Housing Or An Apartment.

Hi there! I don't have experience with public housing but most private apartment complexes require a valid SSN and some sort of legal status. I was able to rent a place before DACA and they just used my ITIN number. At my current place, they ran my SSN and because it was so new I had to present more proof. I think the system flagged it. But I showed them my pay stubs from work and that's all they needed. Best wishes!!
  18. Looking For Job

Gino don't lose hope. I also had a hard time finding a job in my field. I would suggest applying for entry level positions at businesses or companies where you eventually want to work in finance? Then once you are hired there work your way up. Keep applying and when you go to interviews always sound passionate about the position and let them know you want to grow in the company using your skills. Good companies like people who want to work their way up.
  19. Enjoy the rest of the summer dreamers :) any plans?

  21. Traveling Inside The United States

There is no problem when you travel I have travelled a bit since I got approved and they don't say anything.
  22. Your work permit came with a slip for renewal. Make sure to save it.
  23. I really hope this passes. I have too many plans
  24. Credit Cards?

Banks should be pretty secure when it comes to show them your SSN card. I wouldn't worry to much. Other places have asked me to provide them a copy of my SSN because the system flags our numbers when they run our credit report. I believe it has to do with our work permit status and how new they are. I applied for a student Visa card from my bank and I got approved for a small credit amount. Three months later I was offered a visa rewards card from the same bank. Best wishes!!!
  25. Approved, Key: Be Patient.

congrats!!!! It was a long wait but it is so worth it
