  1. Janet Napolitano To Resign Friday

She is pursuing the opportunity to head the University of California System... Great gig by the way (UCLA, Cal, UCSB, UC-Irv, etc...very reputable State University System...I wish her all the best!
  2. No worries - It is redundant to say the least... It basically says what House Republicans have been stating since the Senate Bill passed... However, they will draft something...expect to be surprised around fall this year BTW - a significant number of voting citizens are pro-reform. However, the most conservative don't want to see 'free amnesty...' meaning, they expect the #11Million to pay some sort 'fine,' in addition to back taxes on undeclared income. Let me throw in some numbers to get you excited: if the fine was $1,000 per undocumented immigrant:The government could potentially earn $11 Billion (11 thousand million) The average person earning ~$40,000/year would take approx. 275,000 years to amass this wealth (if salary is constant) It would take EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN (~315 million) to donate ~$35 bucks to get to that amountOr EVERY SINGLE CHINESE (Ex Hong Kong/Taiwan/Macau) to donate ~$8 to reach that amount Mind you, I am not factoring in taxes on past undeclared income The way I see it, it will happen: the country will benefit strongly from it in the short term (fines + application fees = gov revenue), and the long term (income tax revenue, SS, Medicare) until we become eligible for citizenship and government benefits (which I don't believe in; personally, that is). Bottom line, Boehner will be like that pretty girl that plays hard to get...he will eventually give in LOL
  3. Can I Travel Outside The Us?

First, get the job. Second, apply for advanced parole. Third, consult an immigration representative, CSR, or even an immigration attorney to see if advanced parole will allow you to travel back and forth. I know for a fact (according to what USCIS has stipulated in the website RE: Advanced Parole) that if you are approved for parole because of employment requirements, you will be able to travel out of the country and re-enter...However, they do not say how often you are able to travel and re-enter, or if you have to apply every time you have to travel. If I were you, I would first interview and try to get the job. If asked if I could travel or if I need sponsorship, I would say that the immigration situation is personal and in no way will the company have to sponsor me. My suggestion: Research the requirements for Advanced Parole...does your employer have to fill out any sections or send any paperwork to USCIS confirming your employment and the need for you to travel? Can you travel and re-enter on a recurrent basis? if so, how often? Make sure you have this information on hand before you reach the final round of interviews...if you do, and if the company doesn't have to expose itself significantly if they hire you and train you abroad, you could make a very persuasive argument as to why they should hire and how they could benefit from it... I wish you much success bud! On another note, what company is it? Noble, Diamond Offshore, Seacor, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Transocean, Baker Hughes? I asked because I worked for an Oil Trading firm and am well informed in regards to the industry (majored in International Business and Marketing)... How do they service the industry? Well optimization, testing, drilling, cementing (E&P Sector), Refinery Services/Pipeline Construction (laying) + Maintenance (Downstream/Marketing)? Do they do work Offshore? For what role are you interviewing?
  4. Racist Pricks

Flawless performance... Pay no mind guys...they are just a significant minority, living someplace isolated where they still discriminate against people that, according to them, are 'different.' Also, please keep in mind that the comments do not come from San Antonio or Miami alone...these teams have fans all over the country - yes, even in Ignorantville, USA. I got a little pissed when someone said that 'people in Miami are just as stupid as people in San Antonio...' That person must have been joking - Miami, racist? HAAHHAAHAHAHAH - it is like saying that LA, or California in general, is Racist... Don't let a handful of people spoil a great performance by a talented artist... I want to hear some of that kid's Rancheras if he has any...
  5. I was in your same exact situation... But rest assured that by having your application reviewed by Nebraska, you won't have to wait any more than you think... Just be patient and you will be compensated...believe me...when I was waiting, I suffered from increased anxiety, insomnia - you name a disorder, I probably went through it in some form or another... Just hang in there dude - next time, when you are studying at the GL, eating at GC, paying for tuition at PC, or supporting your Panthers at the Cage, you won't even remember what waiting felt like...
  6. Dude, it varies... Apparently, there is a positive correlation between the number of applicants and the wait time for DACA... Basically, as more people apply, applications will take a little bit longer to be processed, which in turn are followed by their respective acceptances, denials, or RFEs...Number of applications increase, number of officials reviewing apps remains constant; hence, the long waiting period. Also, keep in mind that these centers also process other applications...think of it as another pile on top existing piles of applications. However, no need to worry, just live your life and you will receive the approval when you least expect it...believe me, been there done that...
  7. I will be glad to welcome you to the Family! Make us Proud!! BTW - this vid, just for you...Filmed on location at you future Alma Mater http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNII9PDlFJ0
  8. It applies to Dreamers... Basically, the only way to get a DL here is to provide a Work Permit (EAD) and an SSN...(already did it in Miami with no problems) Perhaps the bill was aimed to lessen the time Dreamers have to wait to get a DL, given the time discrepancy that sometimes is found between being DACAmented and getting a Work Permit (EAD)... If you have a Work Permit and a Social Security Number, Florida WILL give you a license... BTW - Rick Scott is on his way out...he is leaning heavily on the right, and on this day and age, conservatives need to be reasonable and willing to compromise...which, apparently, he isn't... That's why Rubio is such a 'hot commodity' right now...he is conservative, but he compromises... Hopefully, you will be able to get a DL soon... Cheers!

  10. You can travel outside the US only in very limited circumstances: Humanitarian, Educational, or Employment purposes. Even though in the Humanitarian purposes bullet point they include funeral services and ailing relatives, I would not risk it. I would only consider applying for Advance Parole if, and only if, I am participating in a study abroad program in my current university, or if I am required to travel somewhere due to the nature of my work (that is just me though). The decision to travel is up to your own discretion, and at your own risk. If you decide to travel under dubious circumstances and you are not allowed to re-enter, do not complain and cry to Uncle Sam...you knew the risk you were undertaking...(when I say 'you,' I mean 'you' in general, and no one in particular). Additional info, as per USCIS website (DACA Section): http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextchannel=3a4dbc4b04499310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextoid=3a4dbc4b04499310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
  11. Where do you look to find a new job?

Sorry - just saw this... I am not sure if it will work for you, since they only work the South Florida Metro Area - more specifically, Miami. However, here is their website: http://www.hastingsonline.com/ I am positive you can find a firm like this in the Tri State...perhaps you can also expand your search in the city? Just Google: Executive Search Firms, or Career Placement Companies, etc... Much success bud!

  14. Not necessarily - I have used my first last name forever. However, I always let the people gathering my information know that there are two last names in my card (and I go through the whole 'both families' last names history - if they were not aware of it) You are not lying to anyone. You are just adapting to the American way of just using only your first last name. However, if you want, you can use both last names hyphenated...as in 'Pepito Perez Martinez' would be 'Pepito Perez-Martinez.' It is up to you, although I suggest you use only one...it will make your life easier in the long run. My 2 cents...

  22. Cir Paths Visualized...must Read!!!

No worries - And no, if you have used your IRS number, it is fine...I meant those people that have used fake SSNs to work...maybe they will owe taxes on their number. In addition, I also think that those individuals that never reported any income will owe taxes as well... These are just assumptions given the current language in the bill as it is...we have to wait and see what the final product is after the changes and addendums... If I were you, I would adjust my spending as of yesterday... Money burner! (jk)
