I don't think you even need the Matricula to travel within US Territory... As per TSA: However, I would carry the matricula just in case... BTW - move your butt and get a State ID (if you are able to do so, and nothing is stopping you)

Not sure if anyone shared this before, but Michigan and Iowa are both granting Driver Licenses to Dreamers... MIchigan: Full Article: http://abcnews.go.co...59#.UYdFnbWG1yo Iowa: Full Article: http://www.radioiowa...ivers-licenses/ These are great news for Dreamers living in both MI and IA who either have been already DACAmented, or are in the process to do so!

No need to freak out... I wasn't able to check my case until I got hit with an RFE...and that was about 5-6 months after they received my app... Therefore, this is a blessing in disguise... They will eventually get to your case in due time, so just disregard it and keep on living your life... Look at it this way...many people are able to check their status online, and they are always SUPER frustrated because their process is not moving from initial review - many of them complain A LOT about it, when the only thing you can do about it is NOTHING... Bottom line...don't look at it as a glass half-empty, but a glass half-full youknowharamsayin??

Let me be the first to officially welcome you Miguel! I hope you contribute to the forum, and since you are going to Cal State, I hope you promote higher ed among dreamers as much as I do... Cheers!

Hello - I suggest you wait...patiently. If you want to compare time frames, click HERE and see what people with applications in your Service Center have had to wait... Just take it easy, you haven't started waiting yet... Some people have been waiting for around 7-8 months, and I waited for about 6 months... You could wait the same time, or less... Best wishes in your wait, and if you don't mind some advice, try to keep your mind off of it...just ignore it until you get approved...it is the best you can do... After the 6 months, you can do a Service Request...but right now, live your life

No worries. Approval letters usually follow... Congratulations you! And to the other ones that have been approved!

Let us analyze your situation carefully and see what we can conclude... 1. You say that one of the cases was dismissed in court. I assume you were not charged, or am I mistaken? If you were not charged, that is great, and hopefully you sent the certified paperwork to USCIS proving that you were not indicted in that particular case. Now, to the interesting stuff... According to the State of Texas: Class B misdemeanors are considered more serious than Class C misdemeanors and carry punishments of a fine of up to $2000, and/or a jail sentence of up to 180 days. The court may also impose a maximum of two years of community supervision (adult probation)* or three years of community supervision with an extension. Examples of Class B misdemeanors include: DWI (Driving while intoxicated) first offense Harassment Prostitution Terroristic threat Criminal trespass Evading arrest on foot False report to a police officer and false 911 calls Child enticement Failure to pay child support Indecent exposure Minor drug possession Vandalism You may have noticed I highlighted some words in the examples above. This is just to show you what other crimes are considered Class B Misdemeanors in TX... Now, on to USCIS and their guidelines. For deferred action, USCIS has established guidelines regarding the application process. Some of these guidelines deal with situations where the applicant has committed an offense/offenses against the particular state where the applicant was present at the time of the offense. Here are the guidelines regarding National Security and Public Safety, that apply to your particular situation: A significant misdemeanor is a misdemeanor as defined by federal law (specifically, one for which the maximum term of imprisonment authorized is one year or less but greater than five days) and: Regardless of the sentence imposed, is an offense of domestic violence; sexual abuse or exploitation; burglary; unlawful possession or use of a firearm; drug distribution or trafficking; or, driving under the influence; or, If not an offense listed above, is one for which the individual was sentenced to time in custody of more than 90 days. The sentence must involve time to be served in custody, and therefore does not include a suspended sentence. And also: If you have been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor offense, or three or more other misdemeanor offenses not occurring on the same date and not arising out of the same act, omission, or scheme of misconduct, or are otherwise deemed to pose a threat to national security or public safety, you will not be considered for deferred action under this process. Please keep in mind that in no way am I trying to lower your expectations, or give you false hopes. I am just being factual with the information that I am sharing with you, just so you have an idea of how to proceed. According to all of the information provided (yours and mine), if USCIS decides to interpret both offenses where you were convicted as Class B/Significant Misdemeanors, the probability that they will Defer Action in your particular case is very slim or close to zero. Just let it play out and wait for the outcome of their decision. Hopefully, their decision is a good one and you are DACAmented. Keep us posted about the status of your case and put yourself in the presence of God...

Hey Jose - Sorry to hear about your situation... Here are some things that you should keep in mind to better assist your analysis of how the arrest could have an impact on your application: First of all, since you posted you live in Texas, let us see what Texas means by a 'Class C Misdemeanor:' Class C Misdemeanors Class C misdemeanors are considered the least serious type of criminal offense in Texas. A Class C misdemeanor conviction carries a punishment of a fine of up to $500. Community service in addition to or in place of the fine is at the judge’s discretion. A common example of a Class C misdemeanor is a traffic offense that results in a traffic ticket. Other types of Class C misdemeanor offenses include:Disorderly conduct Public intoxication Bad checks Simple assault Criminal trespass Gambling Bail jumping Leaving a child in a vehicle Petty theft such as shoplifting Possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle Driving under the influence of alcohol by a minor Minor in possession of alcohol Minor in possession of tobacco This is good news for you... Since you will be charged with a minor offense, I suggest that you get things sorted out rather quickly, and make sure that you gather all the documentation regarding your case. Chances are you will receive an RFE asking you to prove that your case was settled, the decision on your case, as well as other information. Here are some DACA guidelines for National Security and Public Safety: Significant Misdemeanor A significant misdemeanor is a misdemeanor as defined by federal law (specifically, one for which the maximum term of imprisonment authorized is one year or less but greater than five days) and: Regardless of the sentence imposed, is an offense of domestic violence; sexual abuse or exploitation; burglary; unlawful possession or use of a firearm; drug distribution or trafficking; or, driving under the influence; or, If not an offense listed above, is one for which the individual was sentenced to time in custody of more than 90 days. The sentence must involve time to be served in custody, and therefore does not include a suspended sentence Non-Significant Misdemeanor A crime is considered a non-significant misdemeanor (maximum term of imprisonment is one year or less but greater than five days) if it: Is not an offense of domestic violence; sexual abuse or exploitation; burglary; unlawful possession or use of a firearm; drug distribution or trafficking; or, driving under the influence; and Is one for which the individual was sentenced to time in custody of 90 days or less. According to your situation, your sentence would classify as a 'Non-Significant Misdemeanor' as per USCIS guidelines, and should not have a negative impact in the decision to defer action in your particular case. However, my question is: Is this the first time you have committed a misdemeanor? I ask, because according to USCIS guidelines...'If you have been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor offense, or three or more other misdemeanor offenses not occurring on the same date and not arising out of the same act, omission, or scheme of misconduct, or are otherwise deemed to pose a threat to national security or public safety, you will not be considered for deferred action under this process. ' Just some things to keep in mind...

Hey Gino - The gig is very interesting... Everyone is super nice, and it seems that they won't alienate me, since I started going to meetings on my first day... I felt really comfortable on my first day, so there is a strong possibility I might stay and MAKE THEM LUH ME! The job hunters are just another tool that you can use... Their job is to match your skills with a job that they have available, and who knows, maybe you'll end up somewhere you will like... However, beware of their pay scheme...some are paid by the employer, while others take a bite out of your pay...the company that got me the job does the former, so that is why I am more comfortable... Think about it, and I hope you find something where you can get comfortable... Much success in your search!

You don't have to get another one... The one that you have works in conjunction with your EAD... If you look carefully, it says: Valid Only With DHS Authorization - meaning work permit/authorization... I know because I also had an SSN and before I got my EAD, and when I got the permit, I went the next day to the DMV and got my license...No problem...No questions asked... Therefore, consider yourself lucky that you don't have to go to the SSN office like many others... I strongly believe that you won't have to get another one...since you are registered with that particular number and have been for a while... If you have any more doubts, you can always call the SSN office and ask a representative...you should get either the same information, or another card with the same number...

You should have been doing this... Fresita, this wait is not easy and can lead to health conditions - chronic stress and anxiety - believe me, I went through it and I suffered from insomnia, etc... It will all be better when you get approved, but you have to contribute sweetheart... What good is it that you keep telling us that you will, but you won't... I know it is hard, but it is doable...

How Long After Rfe Did You Get Approved ??
Santi replied to SaraMaravilla's topic in Life After Deferred Action
Personally - It took me a couple of weeks, because I had to gather some official paperwork... It depends on the kind of evidence you have to gather... After they received it, I got approved within days... -
Thank you for your support Mikey! I may have to put those plans aside for a while...but not forgotten... I love finance, and I love money...like a woman...
