As is mentioned above, private scholarships do help! Talk to your guidance councelor, church, local dreamers chapter, and various other groups can help you too! Also, consider getting a good job with lots of hours. Working and going to school isn't necessarily easy... but it's totally POSSIBLE! I work 3 jobs and I'm a full time student at a university, trust me when I say that as long as you figure out your schedules so they don't collide with eachother, you'll be fine Best of luck!

Great idea!! SOOOO fun to ride with other ppl... and if u go to college there usually seem to be a few ppl that ride and if you get together in a big pack it is soooo badass!! lol One time we were in a pack of like 20 motos and we took up all the streets for a while! A moto really is a great investment because it saves a lot on gas and it is sooo much fun!! Best of luck!

Thank you so much for your input!! I agree whole-heartedly and think its AMAZING that your mother instilled those aspects in you, her children!! I agree that this is a great thing to promote!! And I really do hope ppl start getting to it because it's just sooo important!!

Welcome! Great story! Just hang in there... Like you said its the end of a long road and it may seem impossible but think of all the years you've been waiting for something like this... Hanging in there a few more months won't seem so bad when you think of it that way!!! Best of luck!!! Keep the faith!

I told my BEST friend a few years ago and she was amazingly supportive about it and it was so great to have her as a shoulder to lean on throughout my process and someone else to celebrate with when I got approved... My boyfriend also knew a few months into us dating... As for the rest of my friends, I'm not sure if I will tell them personally... one of my friends is majorly conservative and anti-illegal immigration (her family is hardcore republican)... But soon I believe my sister and I are coming out in a few major newspapers in my state because of a certain situation we're working on in our town that we're concerned about... I spoke with some civil rights groups and they want to put the info in the paper and asked if we were willing to disclose our own stories and we said yea... A lot of ppl in my (extremely small) town know and love our family... At the same time, though, a lot of them really do believe we're all here legally... So I am a little scared about some reactions to the news but at the same time mi mama always told me to hold my head up high and that ppl have to like me for who I am so I will definitely go through with it... But as for being scared and feeling its not necessary for ppl to know... I definitely understand that too!!!

My sister and I will both keep our crappy cars! lol Pontiac Grand AM and Mercury Cougar... But it is an AMAZING feeling getting pulled over that first time (the cops in my town know we didn't have licenses before and they like to stalk us) and being able to shove our licenses in their fat faces!! lol But another amazing thing will be to be able to register the car under our own state and being able to choose a better insurance plan (we found one for ppl without papeles but the rates are ridiculous!) and of course being able to buy Mama a new car! Family car!! SUV!! Helllooooo leg room for family trips!!! XD

Congrats on making it so far!! Dreamers are a testament to the human spirit of triumph through turbulence... We are people that come out on top regardless of all of the obstacles we face!! Best of luck once you're approved, hope the new opportunities will be plentiful!!

Also, it is worded a little funny like how u said u have enough proof for the YEAR 2012, but proof of being in the U.S. on June 15th (particularly) is a separate category that you have to provide proof for, its not the same as the evidence needed for the year 2012.... And like everyone above has been saying, bank transactions and medical records are good!! Also, any DATED, POSTMARKED mail would be good too!!! Just gather as much as you can, as I always say... BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! Again, best of luck and try not to stress out!
-
Yes and for June 15, I'm praying you did SOMETHING that day... especially if you have a debit card and just throw away ur statements all the time (like I do) I went to the bank and they gave me my statements for a few months back... I highlighted the purchases I made that day (mcdonalds and insurance lol) and that was sufficient... if you don't have anything for that day specifically put in as much for the month of june... especially a whole lot for the days right before and after that day... Also, I make a lot of money too but as long as u put a lot of stuff down for ur expenses sheet I don't think you should have any problem ( like i included all of my college payments as well as a bunch of other little things that I spend on like gas, food, hygiene products, clothing, etc.) Again, Best of luck and stay strong!! Just a tiny little roadbump, but you'll make it through!!!

Welcome, Cynthia, and best of luck with the new opportunities you will be receiving in the near future!!

I know a lot of people that even though they put down their email and phone number, they didn't get either of the two... You for sure should receive the letter, though.

Yes, just in case, send as much info as possible... something for at least every few months, because brief, casual departures don't count and brief and casual would be a month or two I would say... Tax documents are definitely very good proof, but send more just to be on the safe side... highlight dates and put them in chronological order! Best of luck! God bless!

Uhm, if you contact your employer again and let them know that they run NO risk by giving that information. It said in the directions themselves that employers would not be penalized. It happened already so not much they can do about it now, hope things start looking up for you! God bless!

November - NEW USCIS Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Data
NilviaRR replied to JoseG's topic in Dream Act News
I agree, Alejandro, it's too the approvals are such a small number... This makes me feel very grateful that my process went so quickly and smoothly... Praying for everyone else's quick responses!! -
Yes, I understand it's illegal to have plates from a different state, but the fact is that the police is not even stopping them for this, they have never ticketed anyone for not changing their plates. Furthermore, my biggest concern is the bad treatment the hispanic community is receiving, and I talked to a legal director from ACLU and she said no, they are not supposed to search the vehicle without consent, with the exception of the plain sight clause. When a drug, open bottle, weapon, etc, are in plain sight, then the police officer has the right to search the vehicle, also if they have probable cause (person appears high or drunk) but in this case, it was a middle aged woman going to work and definitely did not appear drunk, high, or have anything suspicious in plain sight. Also with the going into the house, they can't do that without a warrant or consent. The fourth amendment protects that right. Finally, thanks for your advice, I am really looking for civil rights groups that I may not be aware of to bring these cases too... The more awareness we raise for this, the bigger the results may be!

Walk-in Biometrics--Anyone been denied a walk in appointment?
NilviaRR replied to NilviaRR's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
VERY helpful! If I don't get in early on, I'll try again at a later time! Thank you!! -
It should have been delivered properly... Did you move? No one has to sign for it, it should just arrive... Has all of your other mail gotten to you ok? And have you checked at your local post office yet? If you bring I.D. and explain the situation something maybe can be done!

THANKS guys!! Glad you feel that way!!

can we amend our taxes once we receive our ssn?
NilviaRR replied to jose3025's topic in Dream Lounge
Just saw this post... interesting, never even thought about it... here is what i found from the IRS site... the link is at the bottom! What do I do when I am assigned a social security number (SSN)? Once you receive a SSN, you must use that number for tax purposes and discontinue using your ITIN. It is improper to use both the ITIN and the SSN assigned to the same person to file tax returns. It is your responsibility to notify the IRS so we can combine all of your tax records under one identification number. If you do not notify the IRS when you are assigned a SSN, you may not receive credit for all wages paid and taxes withheld which could reduce the amount of any refund due. You can visit a local IRS office or write a letter explaining that you have now been assigned a SSN and want your tax records combined. Include your complete name, mailing address, and ITIN along with a copy of your social security card and a copy of the CP 565, Notice of ITIN Assignment, if available. The IRS will void the ITIN and associate all prior tax information filed under the ITIN with the SSN. Send your letter to: Internal Revenue Service Austin, TX 73301-0057 http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Additional-ITIN-Information
