I received a text yesterday notifying me that my brother has gotten approved for the "181D Consideration of Deferred Action.." & that it will come in the mail in the next few days. But what about the employment authorization? because i've read on here that you have to get approved for both and in the text it said nothing about it. Will that info come in the mail as well ? or .... ?

hi everyone! I just had a question, I was just wondering out of curiosity, once we are able to get our driver licence for how long are they valid ..? just two years or regular ?
-
-___- I got my permit a few days ago, because I have yet to take my drivers test (when I do, they'll switch it for my full license) the experience sucks lol but he did tell me "well at least you're not driving with nothing at all"
-
I received my SS a few days ago and now just studying for the test, I'm so nervous lol. Everyone keeps telling me I have nothing to worry about but I can't help it. I'm from FL so tomorrow i'll be doing the 4hrs alcohol & substance abuse test online ... and next week hopefully i'll be ready to take the test Goodluck to everyone also getting ready to get their drivers license !!!

When you went to get your license did they give it to you in person ? Or did they mail it to you after a number of days? I was reading the website for the dmv (I live in Florida btw) and it states that the card will be issued to us in 30 days >.<
-
So I went today to apply for my SS card. The wait was such a pain... but once I was called my brother & I literally took about less than 10 minutes. The lady was really nice ( which I'm grateful for, I've seen that some of you have had a hard time :/ ) I was told that I should receive my card in two weeks. I'm sooooo nervous about taking my drivers test... It seems so unreal honestly but I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity nonetheless.

I've noticed that we all come from different parts of the country, yet one thing ties us all together... our status. Reading all the stories on here makes me feel like "damn... someone feels my pain" I've been in the US since I was three. Growing up my parents told me we weren't "legal" , but I was a kid. I didn't really understand the seriousness of the topic. I guess it didn't start to affect me until my high school years, where I realized "OH.. this is serious problem" lol. All of my friends were getting their permits then licences. Of course I was asked when are you getting yours? I would always have to come up with some stupid lie. (not to mention, I absolutely hate liars.. but I guess in my case sometimes it's necessary) I've distanced myself from a lot of people. Everyone started getting cars, jobs, going clubbing every weekend..etc. I hate to constantly turn down friends. I've been in a relationship for four years and he still doesn't know about my status. I just can't bring myself to tell him, I don't want pity or worse.. rejection. Looked down upon because of something that I had absolutely no control over. I'm nearly positive he won't mind but then I don't know how he'll take the fact that I've been basically lying to him. He's been bugging me to get my license for the longest. And, of course I've been wanting too. I hate depending on people, and for rides it's always the same.. Only one person knows, a friend that I've had since middle school. The only reason she knows is because she started asking questions and my mom was the one that told her. She was shocked, but definitely supportive. (She was born here, but here parents recently were able to finally fix their situation and become residents). Everyone that knows me automatically assumes I was born here. My two youngest brothers were (lucky them) lol.. sure saved them from a lot of problems!! -- Don't know if you guys will read because it's long, I don't blame you lol. Just wanted to do some venting, because I never really have to anyone before. Only God. May this year bring many new opportunities !! God bless

Sooo my brother got approved around November... I lost hope about getting anything (until 2013) around late December. We got our biometrics done around Sep & I had to get mine re-done -__- I went on October 2. On Dec 31 I got a text saying that I was approved & they had mailed my card!! Honestly took me by surprise. I waited longer than my brother and the wait was killllling me... So I tried to keep myself as busy as possible and literally tried not to think about it. For those still waiting, think positive. We're one step closer !!!! Next step is getting my SS and then drivers license... FINALLY!
-
So I received a text today notifying me that my case status is "Decision" and that my "1821D Consideration of Deferred Action was approved. You will be notified of the decision by mail" But I'm confused... because my brother got a text around November saying his status was on "Post Decision Activity" and that they were mailing him his EAD Card. Obviously mine differs from him.. I'm confused on what it means. Does this mean that maybe they will be requesting more evidence ... ? Has anyone got this?

Go back through your stuff, you'd be surprised at what you find. the smallest thing might help. anything anything that has your name on it and is official! goodluck!! -
Smoking is just gross to me, regardless if it's a guy or a girl. Everyone is different though, their life is their life. Good luck on your stopping!!
-
I asked him that, he said he doesn't think so. Just as long as I pay the ticket, I might have to take a drivers course to get those points off. I'll see Monday though !
-
Yes. that was the reason why he stopped me... He had a reason to. I'm mad at myself for such a stupid error, but it happened.
-
Yes that was the thing :/ it was my fault. & indeed he did, 153$ he could of gave me two (one for not yielding him the right of way) but he just gave me the ticket for driving alone with a permit.
-
Congratulations !!
-
Ah Congratulations !!!!! You will definitely get it a lot faster than that, I waited about a week for my card to arrive. Go to the Social Security website, print out the application for an original card and go to your nearest office (: just make sure to take the proper documents! I took my EAD card with the approval letters and passport. Best of luck with everything !

Mine got here in about a week, my brother's still hasn't shown up and we went on the same day (been about 3 weeks) so I guess the system is running slow. They told us to wait a full month then call again.

How Long Does It Take For Your Social !?
x0_michy replied to Ronny17's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
when my brother & I went they gave us a print out (like a confirmation receipt) and it stated on there that if we didn't get it within two weeks to contact them. I got it a week after, my brother still hasn't got his.. I have to get in contact, but it should depend where you live. -
Yay!!!! Congratulations ))

splif0clock if you've never had a license in the state of FL you have to take this 4hr course :/ then you take a 40 question test at the end. the good thing about taking it onlien is that you can log out and pick up whenever you want. Then you take the regular written & driving test at the dmv sooo step by step ! And thankssss to both of you!!! I hope so lol. Goodluck to you guys as well
-
Welcome and think positive!! You've completed all of the steps of the process, all that's left is to be approved. Think positive!! Your time will come when you least expect it
-
Very true ^ and thanks to both of you!! the best of luck with everything as well let's keep moving forward!

I think all of the users above me have said something that is true. We all know exactly what you're going through, because we are in the same position. One of my favorite quotes is "God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers" Unfortunately no matter how much time you spend thinking or wishing your situation was different... it isn't going to change. It is something that is out of our control,so why waste time? I try to think positive. Like splif0clock said, when we think about it people throughout the world are going through SO much worse, they would kill to be in our position. No matter what, you won't get your 13 years back (oh how awesome life would be if we were given that option lol) but unfortunately it's not possible, so don't dwell on that. Dwell on making the rest of your life BETTER and living it up as much as you can DACA is only the beginning (I like to hope) but it's a very big first step, hopefully better things are to come for our people. It's very good that you're in college and little by little you're getting there props to you!! don't let a simple document hold you back from your goals. My life has been hard, but like I said above I like to keep myself the most optimistic as possible and with DACA I have so much to look forward too (as all of us do) The best of luck on your process!

I got them re-done because I guess they didn't show the first time. They told me not to worry, that it was something normal to happen. Second time was good lol

Oh, allrighty! will do. Thanks for the heads up (:
