The democrats don't even need to not be in power...the way this is going, is either do or die. I mean, this is sad, terrifying and at the same time it is according to the law. We were here illegally, and unfortunately, there are laws, but time justifies and the amount of contribution we have given is just insane to just send us home. I am praying this doesn't pass, democrats win again in the next election...and first and foremost, whatever it is president Obama is gonna announce by the end of the month, may it be of reason, justice and may it not be something that will be taken away by the republicans.

Well, it has been 8 months for you, I think some people have been waiting for over 16 months. It will be approved I am pretty sure, sooner than you think. Apparently this law is never going to go into effect, so, we can relax, you will be fine.
-
I hope this isn't happening, I need to reapply in January and I am already freaking out...this is beyond unfair!
-
Well, yeah...great, that is just what everyone needs! People who are undeserving trying to ruin it for everyone else...But to answer your question...I guess it could work, because I bey they don't check much except for if you have a serious crime, thru the FBI...you are not a terrorist, paid your fees, has proof of residence..done! In my opinion that is what would happen, but it better be a darn good fake one.

Sending W2 With Fake Ssn To Employer
Gezinha replied to RicardoP's topic in Life After Deferred Action
I think blurring the SSN out is a good idea...say that you had to make copies for something else and you didn't want whoever it was to have your social...and now those are the only ones you have, so the SSN is blurred. -
That is absurd! I have been hearing such crazy things about "if i do this, someone told me they won't renew it...". That is crazy, it hasn't got anything to do with anything. You can ask for it, I live in MA and I was denied because you must have a green card to get it here apparently, but if you can get it, go for it. They would never deny renewal because of that.
-
If you get approved before the expiration date of your current work permit, for example, if it expires 06/14 and you get approved for renewal 05/14, does that mean you just lost a month? And then the next time you will have to apply in 12/15 because it will expire 05/16. This seems a little strange, if so much time goes by, you could lose up to 4 or 5 months in this whole process. Hopefully they will pass a law y then.

I am so happy! I got a job as a teacher's assistant in a children's school! Thanks to the Lord!

I did mine by myself and saved money, here in Boston the Brazilians always find a way to make money out of every situation, it is ridiculous. If you want inbox me, I can certainly help you out. So long as you don't have any serious priors, I don't think you need a lawyer to apply.
-
For those interested in knowing any info about outside travel...I called a lawyer in Boston this week and he told me that anyone can apply, but when comes times to get your green card, if a law comes out, they will use that against you and interview you about why you were out of the country. Even though they the immigration gives you permission to go out with the parole, they will still question you and interview you when time comes. So, the lawyer says it is a chance you are taking, and not to say that you won't be given a green card, but it is still risky.

I know, especially since the damn world cup is in Brazil this year..tickets and everything will be so expensive. Luckily I am married and my husband can help me out with money, thank God that is not a problem.
-
I heard of people who have gone and come back and everything was fine. I am going to apply myself this coming year to go to Brazil to see my sick grandfather. How long did it take you to get an answer???
-
Don't take a reps word for it...if it is not on the website, I wouldn't trust what they said on the phone. Unless you have the "visual" confirmation that the thing is approved on the website, there is no use. Cause you are gonna call and ask and whoever told you were approved is just gonna say "Ohh idk, i never said that", that is if you even got their name. So, if it is not on the USCIS, don't bother.

Some people have been waiting for over 16 months, so, yes, it is normal.
-
I believe they would be just the same as Alaska and Hawaii. I see no reason why not.
-
Yeah, and I was cured from all my disease and I get to see my mom tomorrow? yeeeeah...sure
-
Ohhh, I thought they fell into different categories. This is really good to know, I am going to apply to go to Brazil next year for treatment (health issues). I really hope I can get there and back, it will, at least, give me a perspective on the future to make a better decision since it clearly seems like immigration reform is on hold for another 3-4 years here. Oh well.

I know, but humanitarian, educational and family leave are different things.
-
Hmm..how is that humanitarian parole?

Hi Everyone I'm Mauro, I Have A Couple Questions ?
Gezinha replied to Maurolopez's topic in Introduce Yourself
Well Mauro, welcome to the forum! I expect you can find many answers around here and people are really helpful. Mine appointment, as you will see by the time line, was about a month after I sent my application over a year ago. Now, getting approved is a different story, I believe some people have been waiting for over 18 months! It is not going to be easy, there may be rejection, RFEs, missing documents, I just want you to be ready for that. It may take over a year or more, especially because there is a huuuuge back up in the line already, sometimes your case gets transferred, you may not find your case online, many things, many glitches in the system these days, do not get desperate. Applying for a SSN is easy, and then you get the social a week later in the mail and whenever you apply for a job you may need to show your worker permit, maybe not. I didn't have to because they checked the SSN and knew it was good. My process was pretty smooth compared to a lot of people around here, I didn't have to call USCIS after my paperwork and I didn't use a lawyer and it took me only 5 months! Good luck Mauro! -

Urgh...VT is the wooooorst! Don't despair though...Some people have been waiting for over a year, it is just slow like that, especially with all else the govt says they have to do...I am sure we all don't trust the govt with all their BS, like I say every single time "they are refilling their coffee mugs every 45 minutes thinking they should be paid more money to do so" haha. It is just ridiculous, they ask for RFEs needlessly, can't do one thing that they are confident in..it is just tiring. My case was transferred to Nebraska halfway thru the whole thing and I was actually glad, 6 months ago, everyone who got VT center was doomed, they are the smallest center, I think, no one liked it. I didn't apply with a lawyer bc I just didn't trust one, they are all full of bs, but your day will come, you will see...if you sent in all the proper paperwork..they cant deny it! Good luck and welcome too the forum, everyone is really helpful here, hope you enjoy being here with us.

Obama Calls For Immigration Law By End Of The Year
Gezinha replied to Sinae's topic in Dream Act News
I thought it was a good time to mention the whole thing obviously, it is always a good time. But it seems no one wants to touch the subject, not even with a 20ft pole! This is crazy...11 million people! They want to collect the fruit of our work but don't want to give us anything...I've had it with this nation...it is falling fast. Not to say I don't want to be here, I do, of course...but this is just so unfair. I hope something gets done before next year is out. It is unbearable to see myself and others go thru this agony everyday of our lives...I live in fear for my husband every single day. -
I got denied for a Capital One card that I applied for and got really discouraged. But then I just found someone with really good credit and bought a car for 13k, so far, I haven't received any credit card offers, but its only been 5 months...they say that when your score is good enough you get craaazy offers in the mail. So, I am waiting for that to come sometimes this year. haha
