http://blog.fileright.com/dont-risk-losing-your-daca-status-3-year-eads-must-be-returned-by-july-17/ After issuing 2,500 3-year work permits to DACA recipients, the USCIS is now in the process of a mass recall. People that do not return their 3-year work permit by July 17, could lose their DACA status and their work permit could become invalid. When President Obama announced his executive actions on immigration in November 2014, part of the Expansion to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was to lengthen the program from 2 years to 3 years. The USCIS began issuing 3-year Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) immediately, before the DACA Expansion formally went into effect. This became a problem when the DACA Expansion was put on hold by a lawsuit in February 2015. The USCIS began sending letters to DACA recipients with 3-year EADs in May. The letters instructed them to return the 3-year EADs and informing them that they would be issued 2-year EADs. Some DACA recipients have received multiple letters and phone calls regarding this issue. Beginning July 16, USCIS plain-clothed officers will begin making home visits to collect the EADs. What to do if you haven

I end up losing my job on oct 28 coz I had no one to watch my damn child. Her grandmother was the one watching her buh she had to work all tht week. Her pops was the one watching her buh he ended up in jail SEPT 19. I jst recently gotten bak on welfare since lst week. I've been seeing this pro bono agency to help me renew my DACA and I let them kno tht I'm living wid my former landlord and they wanted to kno her income and if it was above or below 150% poverty level so I can get the fee waiver for DACA buh nope she makes more than 587 a week. So I have no idea what to do. How am I gnna renew my DACA??!! Wen I called immigration they told me bout da i921 fee waiver buh isn't that different from the fee waiver for DACA? Please help me someone! How am I going to be able to work to support me and my child. I basically have no family here ( they basically abandoned me, treated me wrong, called me names, tell me I was going to be nothing in life) . I don't want to stay here in this room. Jst wen I think things are going good stuff like dis happen n I've only been wrking for three mnths. First real long term job since getting my wrk permit . I don't want to b on welfare forever! -
Hey guys! Hope all is well. I finally gotten a job part time doing maintenance and i know my renewal of my DACA is coming up and honestly I havent gotten the chance to save at all ! I have to be buying my daughter things that are needed. My friend is going to loan me 200$ while I get the rest in two weeks pay. My question is that I signed up for my DACA renewal guide and it says my safe zone to apply is between oct 3 and nov 3. I wont be able to have all the money by nov 3 until the week after, which is the 10. Is it wise to send in my renewal form by that time?? My work card expires March 6 of next year and u know I'm pose to send it in by 120 days of it expiring!! Please help!! Thank you

Can Deferred Action Recipents Can Or Can't Get Public Assistance?
God_why_m3 posted a topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
When I was pregnant I was receiving welfare. Now my daughter is on her fathers case and I want her and I to removed from his case( he's using the food stamps all for his self, when it's for him AND her). Last week I went to apply for child care, cash assistance, food stamps, I showed the worker my letter from the USCIS stating that I have deferred action and she tells me that I'm not eligible for nothing and that I will need to close the other case first then come again. I know for a fact that I can't get food stamps but my daughter can and I'm eligible for child care once my child is a US Citizen. Isn't Deferred action considered PRUCOL and Deferred action recipients are allowed to get welfare? If so how can I show the worker that I'm eligible? Please help because I need the child care so I can go out and get a job and she needs her food stamps for her baby milk and baby food. I can't buy her milk because I don't work and when he was living with us, I truly believed that he took her WIC. I have to wait until august 4th to get a new one. -
ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York Senate is set to vote on a controversial bill that would allow students in the country illegally to get state financial aid. The Assembly passed the Dream Act last month and included it in its budget resolutions. The Senate was poised to vote on it Monday. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan have come out in support of the bill. It had new life breathed into it when members of the Democratic breakaway group that controls the Senate with the Republicans signed on as sponsors. The proposal includes a budget appropriation of $25 million to open up Tuition Assistance Program money for students at both public and private colleges, paying up to $5,000 a year for undergraduates at four-year institutions. http://online.wsj.com/article/APabb13498f0a64c26a8f19436dac044c2.html

http://www.latintimes.com/immigration-reform-2014-house-gop-leaders-moving-bill-axe-immigrant-outreach-job-157520 please read guys, this is horrible! what will we do now? House Republicans are moving on immigration after all. It’s just not exactly what Democrats and immigrant advocates had in mind. On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee marked up three bills with implications for an issue on which GOP leaders in the chamber have indicated they’ve given up on trying to push a broad series of reforms this year. One would authorize the House to file a lawsuit against the president or any other official any time the chamber adopted a resolution accusing them of failing to faithfully uphold the law – a charge commonly leveled by House Republicans at Obama and top immigration officials in part because of memos which set prosecution priorities, including one which gave some Dreamers protection from deportation. Another, the Immigration Compliance Enforcement (ICE) Act, would axe the job of one Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official: Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, currently the deputy assistant director of custody programs and community outreach, formerly the agency’s public advocate. Many immigrant advocates didn’t think that position was anything more than a sympathetic face – but no real power to represent immigrants’ interests – at an otherwise villainous agency. It didn’t last long anyway: a March 2013 federal appropriations bill eliminated it just over a year after its creation. But ICE kept Lorenzen-Strait on in the community outreach position, outraging conservatives like ICE Act sponsor Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.), who charges the agency with simply creating an identical job with a different title. The bill considered on Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee would prevent the government from funding either of those jobs, or any other like it. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Frank Sharry, the executive director of America’s Voice, the nation’s largest immigrant-advocacy group, blasted House leadership for “inexplicably” taking out time on Black’s bill while refusing to bring a broader package of reforms to the House floor for a vote. “For all the talk of wanting to do immigration reform, the facts are as disturbing as they are stubborn,” said Sharry. “The only vote allowed by House leadership on immigration this Congress was on a nasty measure put forth by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) to defund the DACA program and subject DREAMers to deportation.”

Looks like things are beginning to seem bright for us!! I hope they pass this right away and we can begin to use it. My only problem with this that they said quote unquote "prove they can support themselves without government assistance." WHAT THE HELL?!!! Look how these born citizens are on government assistance and it's not a problem, but we have to prove to them we can support our selves without they assistance. That's just B.S! becuase anything can happen... CAMBRIDGE, Md. — House Republican leaders unveiled on Thursday their principles for an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws. Their plan would require tighter border security and more interior immigration enforcement and allow the nation's undocumented immigrants to "get right with the law" and stay in the country. The principles, distributed to Republicans gathered for a three-day annual retreat, say undocumented immigrants can legally live and work in the country if they register with the federal government and are "willing to admit their culpability." They must pass a "rigorous" criminal background check, pay "significant" fines and back taxes, learn English and civics and prove they can support themselves without government assistance. The principles do not make clear whether most undocumented immigrants would ever be able to apply for green cards or become U.S. citizens. Those brought to the country as children "would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents" and could become U.S. citizens if they met certain criteria. "This problem's been around for at least the last 15 years. It's been turned into a political football, I think it's unfair. So I think it's time to deal with it," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Thursday before huddling with his colleagues. "But how we deal with it is critically important." Boehner has been up front that Republicans continue to favor a step-by-step approach vs. one comprehensive piece of legislation akin to what the Democratic-controlled Senate approved last year. The Senate bill includes a pathway to citizenship for the 12 million undocumented immigrants in the USA. Senate Democrats were encouraged by what they saw in the one-page set of principles. "While these standards are certainly not everything we would agree with, they leave a real possibility that Democrats and Republicans, in both the House and Senate, can in some way come together and pass immigration reform that both sides can accept. It is a long, hard road, but the door is open," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., in a statement. EX-GOP SPEAKER: Give undocumented immigrants legal status The most contentious issue among Republicans is how to address the status of undocumented immigrants. On the eve of Thursday's GOP retreat, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., laid out how undocumented immigrants could reach citizenship. Ryan told MSNBC that undocumented immigrants could immediately qualify for a "probationary status" and that the government would then have an undetermined amount of time to reach certain security benchmarks, including stronger border security and enhanced interior immigration enforcement. If those benchmarks are met, then the undocumented immigrants could qualify for a more permanent legal work permit, allowing them to live and work in the country without fear of deportation. At that point, only those who can qualify for existing channels of legal immigration – meaning they're related to a U.S. citizen or are sponsored for a green card by their employer – could get on the road to citizenship, he said. Under the Senate plan, the vast majority of the nation's undocumented immigrants could apply for U.S. citizenship. It would take them 13 years, and they would have to clear several hurdles, including paying fines and back taxes and maintaining a clean criminal record. Ryan criticized the Senate proposal as a "special pathway to citizenship" that is unfair to people around the world who have been waiting years to apply and legally enter the USA. "If you want to get in line to get a green card like any other immigrant, you can do that," Ryan said. "You just have to get at the back of the line so that we preference that legal immigrant who did things right in the first place." The two approaches would have a big effect on who could qualify for citizenship. A Congressional Budget Office analysis of the Senate plan estimated that 8 million undocumented immigrants would qualify for green cards and U.S. citizenship. The House approach laid out by Ryan would allow 4.4 million to 6.5 million undocumented immigrants to reach that status, according to a report from the National Foundation for American Policy, an Arlington, Va.-based think-tank. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., said at the retreat that he was receptive to the House plan. "I think we as Republicans can find a path to legal status that does not include citizenship," he said, dismissing political concerns that taking on immigration could divide the GOP and spark primary challenges in an election year. "I'm not afraid to deal with anything at any time," he said, "If we focus on the right policy, the politics will take care of itself." Supporters of an overhaul of immigration laws said they were encouraged to see House Republicans get involved in the immigration debate. It's been more than a year since the Senate began working on its bill and seven months since it passed. "This is the first time House leadership has said, 'This is where we're going,' " said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, a group that supported the Senate immigration bill. "You cannot overstate House leadership laying out principles for immigration reform that are thoughtful and pragmatic." Others were upset over the lack of certainty undocumented immigrants would face under the House plan. "Half-measures that would create a permanent class of non-citizens without access to green cards should be condemned, not applauded," said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, who supported the Senate plan. "Until we create a functioning immigration system with a pathway to citizenship, ruthless employers will continue to exploit low wage workers, pulling down wages for all." For conservatives opposed to granting "amnesty" to undocumented immigrants, Thursday's announcement was a serious blow. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., fought hard against the Senate immigration bill and said the House proposal commits the same fatal flaw: It would grant legal status to undocumented immigrants before ensuring security measures. Democrats have long insisted they could not negotiate with the House if it presented a plan that forever barred undocumented immigrants from attaining U.S. citizenship. Since the new GOP principles at least provide access to citizenship for many undocumented immigrants, Democrats said it was something they could work with. "Nobody that I hear from in Congress is talking about immediate citizenship for everyone or mass deportation for everyone," said Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, D-Ill., who has led immigration efforts for Democrats for years. "We can find common ground that allows millions of the undocumented to eventually apply for citizenship, legalizes millions who are working and contributing to the country, and puts our economy, our security and the legality of America's workforce on solid ground." House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Boehner informed her of his intent to put out guiding principles. "We'll see what it is, but I believe it is a good-faith effort to find common ground. And we look forward to seeing what they are," Pelosi said. She said any bill that does not include a path to citizenship is unlikely to garner much support from Democrats. "We need to have that path."http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2014/01/30/house-gop-principles-immigration/5052407/

Okay so ever since I've had my work permit, I couldn't look for work because I was pregnant. Now that I'm healing from my c section ( Oct 24) I've been going to job recruitments and applying online for jobs. It's like no one wants to freaking hire me. The only work experience I've had was that I was an librarian assistant back in my high school, then I was a dishwasher; in wihich I was getting underpaid by $1 less than the minimum wage and on top of that I don't have carfare to go out and look. I feel so hopeless that I've brought a beautiful baby girl into this world and I can't freaking support her. I really feel disgusted. Her father is no help at all as well. He's not working and he's just waiting on this job agency to literally call him, when he can just go out and look for a damn job! ANY ADVICE AND HELP PLEAASSEEEEE!!!! ***Also has anyone gone to Hawaii and Puerto Rico and come back without any problems? When I get a job( God willing) and save up money I want to go to both places with my little daughter.***
