yup some people can be so rude. that happened to me the first time i went. she told me that my work permit and birth certificate were not enough and told me i had to have a passport or i-94, but you really dont have to, so i just went to another office and the lady there was so much nicer!

I got that same letter saying i applied and id get it in two weeks, but the lady said it usually only takes 5- 10 business days to arrive. i dont have a hob yet, so ill just wait patiently.

yay you guys. im finally getting my SS card. i went to another office and everything went smoothly. that other lady honestly must have been discriminating or something. thank God this is all coming together!!

i just dont get it. whats their problem?? they dont seem to go by their own guidelines...let me know how it goes for you.

***news flash*** i just spoke to a supervisor for the social security admin. and he told me that adults over the age of 18 who have been granted deferred action and have their EAD, have to have a passport when applying for a social security card. he said minors can get by without a passport. thats the reason why ive been having problems applying.now i have to wait to get a social security card until i can get an appointment with the consulate to get my passport...hope you guys have better luck than me.

yea a lawyer friend of mine told me it takes a few days for the information to get into the Social Security Administration's computer system. so i'll just try in a couple of days..

hey how do you guys do that thing that lists the dates of when you sent your applications, biometerics appt, and approvals? that looks pretty and id like to share my journey with you guys

thanks guys. thats what i was thinking of doing, printing that page and showing them because they didnt seem to know what Deferred Action was! they kept asking me to show them something that says how i got to the U.S. like the I-94 or I-551 or passport but ive never had any of those so I will try going again with that printout. thanks!!!

i did my bio on oct. 23 too and received my EAD nov. 28

i got my work permit card on Saturday and went to the social security office to get an SSN but they told me they cant give me one because i didnt provide enough documents. i took the work permi and my birth certificate with the translation. they asked if i had a passport or an I-94 or I-551. dont have any of those. what to i do????
