Annyone Applied For Financial Aid?
Osha replied to Infusion's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
Which Dream Act application are you referring to? Do you mean Deferred Action application? -
As I said, EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT. This is a case by case process, USCIS stressed that point over and over again. This is not a first-come, first-served basis and anyone who tells you anything different either doesn't know what they're talking about or they're just lying. The only answer that I can honestly tell you is I don't know how USCIS process these applications and I don't think anyone on those forums knows either. Being enrolled in school particularly in college is very important, not necessarily for Deferred Action but for the possibility of the Dream Act being passed this year. The Dream Act will probably require us to be in college or the military in order to obtain permanent residency. Deferred Action on the other hand doesn't require us to be college graduate or even be enrolled in college in order to qualify, you just have to be a high school graduate though.

The immigration Reform bill is not a law yet, Once its been proposed, it will then head to one of the Senate Committee for hearings and once they've concluded the hearings, the committee will hold a vote on it before it goes to the Senate Floor for debate. So this bill will go through a lot of congressional processes and by the time it reaches the president desk if everything goes well, it will definitely be a different bill from its original version which will be introduced next week. So its hard to say for sure what this bill will require us to do. The House of Representative will be introducing its own immigration bill sometimes after the congressional recess, and it will go through the same tough scrutiny as the Senate version, and hopefully between August and November there should be a an immigration bill on the president desk.

Congratulations! Its a great feeling isn't? ...the feeling that I had when I found out I've been approved I felt untouchable, literally! I just wanted to run through the walls...

If your case have been transferred, they'll let you know through text/e-mail only if you've signed up for it, and also on the USCIS website (case status update).
-
Every case is different, its very important to know that. I'm a student too and just because we're student doesn't necessarily means that we'll have a smoother ride through the process, every case goes through the same scrutiny regardless of current status. Your case could be held up by a background check or some other reasons. What I can honestly tell you is to wait, and you'll receive that approval when you least expect it, and believe me, it will be the best feeling in the world.

I'm definitely conversant with your life story, I think many of us Dreamers have gone through the same experiences of hardship. Until now, I was also the only one in my family without legal status, for years I've been somewhat of a slave for my own family, they've pretty much bullied me and ordered me to do whatever they want, but ever since I've been approved, I've grown a new sets of balls. I'm no longer taking sh*t from no one, and now i'm finally becoming independent for the first time in my life and I love every minute of it.

You don't need to start a petition, we can help you out if you want. I don't think that petition is going to help you much anyway...just saying.

How long after Biometrics to get approved?
Osha replied to Rickyerique's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
There's a lot of ways to prove continuous residency. The stronger the evidence the better. You don't necessarily have to prove that you were in the U.S everyday or even every month, but you have to present the best case possible to the adjudicator that you've been residing in the U.S for the past 5 years continuously. The best evidence far to none are school records (i.e. college and high school transcript), bank statements, pay-stubs, medical records and utility/rent billing statements. You can also throw in some affidavits to give you some cushion. -
Yes, there will be. That's one of the major principles in this new legislation. People who are here illegally will get a provisional visa right away but the road to permanent residence as well as to citizenship will be long, although Dreamers will get an expedited road to citizenship as oppose to everyone else.

The so called "low-skilled workers program" applies to future migrants who want to come to the U.S. to do some temporary or low skilled work. This new agreement between the Organize Labor and Big Business is a much better improvement over the existing law. It just means that those folks who will come under the temporary or low-skilled program can apply for a green card and then citizenship, which will be a dream for future immigrants. This program doesn't apply to us, it applies to future migrants. Comprehensive Immigration reform is a very broad legislation that will pretty much change the whole immigration system, from border security, to the Dream Act, to giving visas to the 11 Million undocumented immigrants, to fixing the legal immigration backlogs...etc.
-
The dream act will be included in the overall comprehensive immigration reform bill, which of course will benefit those on Deferred Action.
-
I think it depends on which application you're placing an inquiry on, If its with the DACA application then I'm not sure if that will do much to speed-up your application, but what it will do is probably shine some light on your application and if you're lucky the adjudicator who is assigned at your case may start working more and sleeping less on the job and render you an approval
-
So what document did you send to clarify that little issue?
-
Many folks in our situation (including myself) have used a fake ID, fake SSN and even fake names but that will not hold up your case at all, I was approved less than a month after my bios... With regard to claiming child tax credit, I don't think you violated any law as long as your child is a U.S citizen or Permanent resident and meets all the other qualifications. I don't have any kids so I don't know much about that, I try to learn as much as I can about the U.S tax code but that sh*t is confusing and complicated.
-
No, that's unlikely. You have nothing to worry about. Just take some comfort in knowing that there are thousands of other DACA applicants who are still waiting.

For Those Wondering If Gaming Records Will Work.....
Osha replied to pswa83's topic in Dream Act News
That typo is a projection for things to come. It will not be long until we get that residency. -
Congratulations, you had me worried as if I'm your parent. Anyway...its really good to know that it all ended well for you.

Well, its great to hear that you are in contact with the new tenants at your previous address. If your EAD card is still in transit then those tenants probably haven't received it yet, because once its delivered it takes a few minutes to an hour to change to "delivered". So keep in contact with them between today and Saturday, your card should arrive by then and once it 's been delivered you should contact them immediately and ask them if they can mail it to you.

Question! Now That I Have Being Approved, Am I Able To Go In A Cruise?
Osha replied to Rickyerique's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
I believe you can take a cruise with no problem to Hawaii which is the 50th state and Puerto-Rico which is a dependent territory of the United States, but I'm not completely sure, so just make sure to do some research. The Caribbean on the other hand is not a country, its a region encompasses of many different Islands, so I believe you will have some problems taking a cruise over there. -
I Have Questions About Helping My 17 Year Old Brother File His Application..please Help
Osha replied to orozcomari's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
If your brother meets the basic but important qualifications then I believe that he has nothing to worry about. Gather all the school transcripts, doctors appointment, copies of his school ID's, and even a copy of his latest school schedule. School transcripts are solid and strong evidence, especially if your brother is still in school and have been in school for the past 5 years. -
The Dream Act will be included in any Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The Dream Act is almost certainly the only piece of immigration legislation that will pass if Congress somehow stall or fail to pass the overall comprehensive immigration reform. But any immigration reform that will come to the Senate floor this Spring will have fierce opposition and we have to be ready to make those calls.

Approved!!! Case Transfer From Vermont To Nebraska!!!!
Osha replied to christmastree77's topic in Dream Lounge
Congratulations. -
Which address do they have on file? Did you already changed the address? Don't assume that they send you a new card to your new address! If you haven't file "form AR-11 Alien change of address" they will not send you anything to your new address until you file that form. You really have to find a way to get in-touch with whoever is living at your previous address. Not just is the EAD card important but you also need those acceptance letters for your records. Don't just rely on those lazy immigration lawyers, all they want is your money. Here's the electronic form, fill it out and submit. https://egov.uscis.g...oa.cr.Residence
