  1. I was actually talking to my mom Monday about getting a tattoo and she mentioned she had overheard on the spanish speaking television shows on Univision that having a tattoo could possibly affect ones case when applying for the Deferred Act or the Dream Act. Both require background and biometric checks. This is all word of mouth. I dont have any links to provide. Sorry.
  2. Paperwork for Deferred Act

I started with the immunization card I was issued when I was enrolled in school. I have a vaccination card from my home country (Mexico) and when my mother showed that, all that information was transfeered to a Texas immunization card. I have the final report cards from kindergarten to middle school. I have all my student ids issued in middle school and high school. I have the final school transcript from my high school. I have my high school diploma. I have paperwork showing I took online community college classes. I have certificates issued for being a volunteer at different childrens schools. When I was able to afford my own apartment, I have the leases and bills under my name. I tend to be OCD and have them organized by date and utility. Thats all I got for now...
  3. Get Familiar with EAD Form I-765

One comment that I'd like to add regarding this post are the FEES. Ive seen many guests/visitors ask how much will it cost and that information hasnt been released yet, but regarding the I-765, its a possibility that fee may be waived. The fee for the I-765 would be $380. However, there are several reasons for which it may be waived, they are the following: If you are in one of the categories noted below, no fee is required. No fee is required if filing for an initial employment authorization document under one of these categories: Refugee, asylee or paroled as a refugee N-8 or N-9 Nonimmigrant Citizen of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, or Palau Granted Withholding of Deportation or Removal Dependent of certain foreign government or international organization personnel Applicant for asylum (applicant filing under special ABC procedures must pay the fee however) No fee is required if filing for a renewal employment authorization document under any of these categories: Citizen of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, or Palau Granted Withholding of Deportation or Removal Dependent of certain foreign government or international organization personnel I found this information on the following link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=73ddd59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=7d316c0b4c3bf110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD I think itd be great if the fee for the I-765 were waived. I think (this is my personal opinion) that there may be a small fee to apply for the Deferred Act..but maybe I'm wrong...I hope I am.. Im not even adding the fees for the background and biometric check..but I'd be willing to pay to be able to stay in the country I consider my home.
  4. Great post!!! This is where I get all my info from and at the bottom of this pages website, it has the date it was last updated. Currently it reads July 6 2012
  5. Hi, I'm Jamal

Hi!!! Im Itzel, I just turned 27 yesterday. I was brought to the country when I was 3. I got all my education here and graduated from a magnet high school. I did a semester of online college, because it was all I could afford. Im very excited about this Deffered Act too..I'll finally feel normal like everyone else who has these rights.
  6. High school

At the momnet he can only apply for the Deferred Act, not the Dream Act. That hasnt passed yet. Congrats on his scholarship.
  7. I understand what you mean regarding weighing the options about filing and perhaps turning in our parents, but for us "older" dreamers, thats not the case. I havent lived with my mother in years, so I'd have no way of turning her in. I think every case is different.
  8. Lawyers can help

I agree that lawyers can help, however in my personal opinion they arent ABSOLUTELY necessary. I would hire a lawyer if I felt I would have complications filing for the Deferred Act. If you feel youre in the clear, then I think your money should be utilized for the application fees.
  9. Im also hoping Obama wins..Romney is evasive and I personally dont trust people like that.
