Wow...really? ^^^^^^^^ Like pswa83 said some people tend to think that immigration is a black & white issue. Its not that easy, they always have extra little clauses and I think pswa83 whos been dealing with immigration her whole life, and who Im sure has consulted various attorneys. Only the person in the situation knows exactly whats going on.

The agreement you made with the peron who hired you, Im assuming was verbal, nothing written. If thats the case, that is the reason she seems to be changing the original agreement. Im so sorry to hear that and know exactly how you feel because the same thing happened to me, I was promised a very large amount of $ after many years of work for an elderly person, I never got it in writing and later when I called, it wasnt given to me. Im sure you want to keep this job, but because of the agreement with this person and her not keeping her end of the bargain, things may get difficult. She may not have been authorized by the orthodontist to do such agreement. There are laws that protect the workers. If you try and work something out and she keeps in the same position, she may try and scare you with telling the orthodontist the "agreement" formed between you two. My opinion would be to go directly to the orthodontist, but unfortunately you do run the risk of losing the job becasue of the agreement with said person and depends how the orthodontist sees it. Good luck.

Its been hard, but I think what doesnt kill me makes me stronger and being undocumented made me appreciate what I have more and that the goals I have will be realized because if I survived this, I can survive anything., Also, God gives only his strong soldiers the tasks he feels they will be able to handle. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Doing your taxes if you're DACA approved
itzel replied to itzel's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
Thats what I thought, but Ive been told by several sources, its pretty basic and easy to do it if you do it through TurboTax or online. If youre already working, at your job theyll give you a W2. This form has all the info youll input on your tax form. I was told Turbo Tax is really simple in that it tells you what #s to put and where. For example: whatever is on line 6 on your W2, put on this line..and so forth.. -
Theres also a post here talking about taxes. Tax time is coming up and if we already have a job and theyve been deducting taxes, if we can get some back, we deserve it.. http://forum.adreamact.com/topic/1100-doing-your-taxes-if-youre-daca-approved/

Doing your taxes if you're DACA approved
itzel replied to itzel's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
UPDATED INFO: I like to browse around other forums with fellow DREAMERS and educate myself over various subjects. One of the things that is very present at the time is doing my taxes. I found a post by a DREAMER by the username of msaccountant where he/she gives extra info we may not be aware of. Here it is and at the end I have posted the link to where I found this info. I take no credit for the following information The purpose of this thread is to try and educate fellow DREAMers about filing individual income tax returns. I won't go into full details again like I have said again and again I'm no tax expert but I do have basic knowledge when it comes to this and I will try my best to help anyone out. (Any other members on here accounting majors, business majors, and anyone that has experience/knowledge is more than welcome to help out.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What do I do with my ITIN now that I have an SSN? Once you're approved for DACA/EAD and have received your new SSN you must give up your ITIN. This thread will tell you what you have to do: http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33829 Once you do that you will not use your ITIN to file taxes ever again your new SSN will be the number you use from now on. Do I qualify for the Earned Income Credit/Earned Income Tax Credit? Depends. You must be at least age 25*, your filing status must not be Married Filing Seperately, have a vaild SSN, and meet the income requirements. Once you're approved for DACA/EAD and have received your own SSN you will have a valid SSN. However, you must know that if anyone on your tax return does not have a valid SSN you will not receive the credit. I would advise those of you that previously had an SSN to get a new card before you file because if the preparer sees that it says it's not valid for employment then they will think you don't qualify for the credit. *If you have children the age limit does not apply to you. In addition, only the following income is classified as taxable earned income: Wages, salaries, tips, and other taxable employee pay; Union strike benefits; Long-term disability benefits received prior to minimum retirement age; Net earnings from self-employment if: You own or operate a business or a farm or You are a minister or member of a religious order You are a statutory employee and have income. Examples of Income that are Not Earned Income: Pay received for work while an inmate in a penal institution* Interest and dividends Retirement income* Social security* Unemployment benefits* Alimony Child support *Don't think any of you received that but still good to know. Do I qualify for Education credits such as the American Opportunity Credit, Lifetime Learning Credit, or the Tuition and Fees deduction? First of all to qualify for any of the credits the amount you are trying to deduct must be paid out of pocket, if it's a scholarship or perhaps you receive state aid that portion is not tax deductible. Second, no matter who paid the tuition if your parents claim you as a dependent (they provide over half of your own support i.e.: pay bills, food, clothes, transportation expenses) then they will claim the education credit. This is tax law not something you can decide or argue with your folks about. If your parents do not have a SSN in other words they're undocumented they can still claim the credit. American Opportunity Credit (AOC) To qualify you must be attending an accredited school at least as a half time student for at least one academic period. (i.e: Half time student for spring semester) You must be deducting educational expenses that were paid out of pocket for the first 4 years of higher education (undergrad). You must not be convicted of a felony. Also, you must be receiving a degree and/or certificate. The following do not qualify as education expenses: Room and Board, Parking Permit, Student Health Insurance, Travel and Research expenses. The following qualify as education expenses: Books, equipment, fees, and supplies only if they are required for the course. The maximum credit per student is $2,500. Only refundable education credit. Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) To qualify you must be attending an accredited school. Unlike the AOC you do not have to be an undergrad and you don't have to be attending at least half time. No limit to how many years you can claim it. The following expenses will qualify as educational expenses: Tuition and any amount that's paid directly to the school to cover course-related books, fees, equipment, and supplies that are required. If you are purchasing any of these at a bookstore, internet, or somewhere else then they don't qualify. The maximum credit per family/return is $2,000. Tuition and fees deduction Same requirements as the LLC only difference is this is an adjustment to income not a credit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is what I have so far. I will add info on the Child and Dependent Care Credit, and the EIC income requirements. If anyone has anything else they'd like me to add then speak now (PM me or post on here). I will try with the best of my knowledge and by researching to assist y'all. I won't prepare anyone's tax return nor will I provide an estimate of how much you might see as a refund or if you'll end up paying. I strongly suggest to visit a VITA center in your neighborhood and also to consider volunteering for them because you will gain some knowledge and it's just a great experience to give back. Once you're hooked you will start doing research on your own and asking questions like me. Also very important the IRS has stated that they will not take any returns (e-filed or paper) until the 30th of January so if you file now and are expecting a refund the wait to receive it will start on the 30th. It's always best to get it through direct deposit though! Source/Link: http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=36978 -
I use a local credit union. First Light. Its very good to its members. Free checking, no annual fees plus after you submit an application for your wages to be deposited directly, they actually give me the money 1 day earlier than when Im officially supposed to receive it. Im currently in the process of obtaining a credit card and after doing research, learned that if you get a credit card through your bank or credit union, the APR is much lower than going with other companies.

Like you said every case is different and if I remember correctly, I remember reading in one of your posts, that prior to DACA, you already has a case, so perhaps they're taking longer with your case because theyve veryfying all your information or comparing it side by side. However, regardless that, I think they need to stop poking ass and do it in the order they were received and you sent yours on Sept 13th. Good luck and hope you hear something very soon.

I tried doing that with my current bf, but it back fired on me. He left because he didnt want to be a fling. I learned during that separation how much I'd learned to care about him. He came back and we've been together about 4 years. Things just fall into place when theyre meant to.

Community College .... Is There Any Financial Help For Undocumented Students ?
itzel replied to taramo35's topic in General Discussions
Sorry girl, Im not too familiar with Califonia community college financial aid classes, but here in Texas community colleges they do offer payment plans and sometimes emergency loans. You might want to look into your community colleges financial aid department and see if they offer that. Yes, unfortunately education is expensive. Now I understand why so many people have outstanding student loans..good luck. -
I personally, never let legal status be a factor in if I dated someone or not. I didnt encounter any one in the same situation as I, that I wanted to date. My boyfriend whom, Ive been with for about 4 years, is a US Citizen and when we met, I just wanted a fling, due to my legal status. He wanted something serious, but wasnt aware of my legal situation and thought I was pushing him away because i was married or something. I finally came clean and we have been in a relationship since. He always made it clear that my legal status, wasnt my fault and it isnt correct to be punished for your fathers sins. Also, my legal status doesnt define me as a person, he fell in love with me, for me, not for my situation. He's always had my back and now that I work and am going back to school, he continues to be supportive. I struck gold when I found him. I understand that we always want more, someone with a legal staus or plans, and theres nothing wrong with that, but you cant go against your heart. If you fall for someonw whos in the same boat as you, but just like you, wants to succeed and better themselves, whats wrong with giving it a try? Sometimes we need to put ourselves in the other shoes, would we want to be turned away from a meaningful relationship, just because of our status? To each their own, I dont judge because Im not perfect and I wish everyone the best.

Also, you might want to add a timeline..so we can help you better..its the info below your name that shows when you sent in your application, etc..

My personal opinion is that Nebraska is one of the quickest centers..

Hi s.magali and welcome. Actually, up to where I know, there isnt a service center in Florida. Did you get your application sent to Texas, Nebraska, Vermont, or California?

itzel replied to Ronny17's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
I agree..but its pretty fuc*** up to play with someones hopes that way. Im sure you would have been upset if they had done that to you. No offense. -
I met my boyfriend on plentyoffish.com This coming year we'll be together for 4 years..I think you just need to be on the same page as the other person, as whether you want booty, casual dating or something serious. After thats covered, I think everything should be easy as pie..

Lets make this coming year 2013, the year of the successful and pionerring DREAMERS!!!
-
Sounds great!!! Having to renew every 2 years sounds like a pain in the butt... @pswa83, even if its passed after you turn 31, I dont think you'll be excluded because you were approved for DACA..thats just my opinion
-
I stand by my opinion and dont feel that I am attacking him by expressing myself. Like you mentined we all have the freedom of speech. His previous statements have led me to assume he is unhappy with having been approved for DACA, if so, then Im sure that he can un-DACA himself very easily...
