Deferred Action And Shopliftinf
Tori replied to hopefulsoul's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
I was booked for shoplifting in 2011 but the charges were never filed. With my DACA app I sent in a court doc showing my record and that the charges were never filed. Approved after 5 months.- 2 replies

It'll be an interesting two years leading up to 2016 election to see who are the front runners. In all honesty I want to see both the Dems and Reps work in cohesion to pass a new immigration policy. That's the problem with the country right now. No one wants to work together and compromise, and that benefits no one.

From what I've read in other articles on the issue the bill was passed in the house and has very little chance of passing in the democrat-led senate. And Obama would never sign such a bill either.

I agree there isn't anything to fret about but there always is that little inkling doubt since marijuana is still illegal on the federal level. Other forums with posts on the issue expressed lots of concern about it. I have no criminal record for any crimes. I'll be good. I think biometrics is run to ensure you have a clean criminal record and are not a threat.

Got A Dui 6 Years Ago, Can I Still Get Approved For Daca?
Tori replied to iamMari2013's topic in Life After Deferred Action
@susana: there must of been confusion. I didn't have a DUI, I was referencing those who've been approved with DUIs. -

Tori replied to iamMari2013's topic in Life After Deferred Action
What did the final DUI charge end up being on your record? Many folks with initial DUI charges were able to have a lesser charge on their record once they've gone to court, paid fines, took classes, etc. I lesser DUI charge is much more likely to be accepted for daca approval. -
Your video is set to private yo!

Life After Daca Is Great!! But ...

No prob. Definitely open up a CC. Buy small things and pay them off every month. Your credit will be established and will be very good. -
Life After Daca Is Great!! But ...
Tori replied to iamMari2013's topic in Life After Deferred Action
Look into your bank's credit card options. There's usually a student CC or a credit building CC. I'm with b of a and got a student (not even a student) CC with $1000 limit and 0% APR for a year last august. Now I'm getting approved for all sorts of CC. Advice: be financially careful with how you manage your credit card purchases. Live within your means and know for sure you can payoff what is bought. -

DUI is no good. Lose 10 grand in fees plus personal life time. Not worth it. Pay for a cab or Uber/Lyft if it's available in your area. -
Use your original DACA app as a reference for those questions.

Damnit, it turned it into the copyright symbol. It's supposed to be a lowercase c within parenthesis.

I believe it's ©(33). Reference the i765 form instructions to make sure.

I Hope There Is A Separate Division That Handles Renewals… Because
Tori replied to holdingon2promise's topic in General Discussions
Take responsibility for your actions. As you grow older you'll realize that you have much more responsibilities to take care of: car insurance bills, tax returns, car payments, car registration, etc. And now DACA renewal. Being a student is not an excuse for not wanting to remember an important priority. Not trying to sound abrasive, it's part of being an adult. -

I agree. I do believe that the renewal review process will be quicker since there isn't substantial evidence to review, just to ensure the renewal app is cohesive with the initial submission. -
Super awesome. It's always great when a visual is presented.
-
Pics? Passport size pics? Where does it say it's a requirement for renewals?

There's been cases where the EAD has been put on hold and there's been heresay that one should wait 10 or so days before applying for the SSN. It's so that the card is put into the system. I went for my SSN the day after receiving my EAD and there was no issue. The wait is on a case by case basis.

B of A also has a credit building CC to start off with.

Another 'approved. What's Next' Question
Tori replied to Supreme's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
Here's the SSN app form with intstructions: http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.pdf. Good luck! -
You're good, you got the approval and EAD. Now find your local social security office and apply for a SSN.

Go to the court office and ask for a paper stating that you were never charged. I was arrested for shoplifting in 2011, booked, and never charged. My lawyer asked for me to provide the court doc stating I was never charged. I provided the doc as evidence in my initial package submission.
