I received a tracking number for the EAD. You'll get two envelops. One for the 821d approval and one for the EAD card.

Dump Wells Fargo and go with Bank of America. In 2011 I got a checking account with them, no questions asked about my SSN or Mexican consulate ID. In 2013 after approved for DACA I opened a college credit card with B of A and updated my SSN. Greatest thing: I'm not even a student, the fellow hooked me up! No interest for a year and $1,000 credit line!

I just brought my passport and EAD, it was that was needed.

In CA the DL/ID looks the same as others in the state. SS card has this written on it: valid for work only with DHS authorization.

Find your local social security office and drop in. You need to fill out an app and provide documentation. Once you get your SSN you'll head to the DMV for your DL/ID.

I Recently Applied For My Ssn Now What?
Tori replied to jaime7815702's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
It shouldn't take that long to receive your SSN card. Mine came within a week of applying. It maybe held up due to the number getting input into the system and linked to you. Not sure if it can get denied. Once you receive it you'll want to apply for your ID/DL at your local DMV. -
That's what biometrics are, a background check, that's part of the DACA process.

Congrats! And welcome to the site! We're all in this together!
-
Great! It should be reviewed fairly quickly and a decision will be made! So nerve wracking awaiting approval! But as soon as you get that notice of approval you'll let out the biggest sigh.
-
Approval after RFE varies from case to case. For instance, if your RFE is related to proving residency for a given time period then it may take longer than if the RFE was for a missing document. It's all related to the amount of time is needed to review the new evidence. Stay patient!
-
@j: it was less than a month, about 2 - 3 weeks.
-
@jerriarielle: I didn't receive my RFE either, but my lawyer did and squared away the issue. After submiting I was approved fairly quickly. My RFE was to clarify my name.

I'm looking forward to learning about the revised DACA renewal process, compared to what is currently place on the USCIS site. I hope it's a quicker process considering the initial DACA psalter work is already approved. It'd be absurd to resubmit the same package once again.

I applied for a CC from B of A. Originally I was looking at their credit building CC and ended up getting their student CC though I'm not a student anymore, the guy hooked me up! $1,000 credit line and 0% interest for a year. Since I already had B of A account I also updated my SSN with my new legit one. No questions asked.

How Long Does It Take To Receive Biometrics Appt?
Tori replied to gsanchez's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
You should be receiving a letter with a bio date. The bio date is usually around 3-4 weeks after your app has been received. -
Got A Dui 6 Years Ago, Can I Still Get Approved For Daca?
Tori replied to iamMari2013's topic in Life After Deferred Action
You can always go to your county courthouse and request a record to see what crimes you've been charged/found guilty of. If it doesn't show a DUI charge you may be in the clear. When I applied my lawyer suggested I do this for a misdemeanor charge that was dropped. I my app I notated the crime, provided the citation, and provided my record to show it was never charged. -
Also, raed the small print at the bottoming the page: *USCIS has not issued official guidelines about the renewal process. This information reflects the United We Dream Network’s best intelligence on the renewal process and what every DREAMers needs to know at this time.

I'm sure within the next several months the government will make a public announcement about the renewal process. This summer will mark 2 years since DACA was instated.

You already had a DL? Or just driving illegally? I was driving for 12 years before being approved. I had to take/pass the written test and the take/pass the behind the wheel test.
-
When I applied for my SSN I also asked about a printout. The woman who processed my app said the printout has no value and to wait for the card to come in the mail.
-
Await your EAD card to come in the mail, then head to the SS office to apply for SSN, and then once SSN is in hand apply for DL/ID.
-
With my experience the DMV didn't even look at my SSN card. I just wrote in my number and showed my EAD.

So You Got Approved!? What Are Your Plans And Goals Now?
Tori replied to iamMari2013's topic in Life After Deferred Action
Since I was approved at 30 years old I already had a solid 8 years of building my two design businesses after graduating college in 2005 with an AA in film production. Now that I have a SSN I was able to apply for business licenses back in May and have steadily been working at building my brand. I'm looking forward to 2014 and forsee much more growth. Although I Iove working as a freelancer, I'll be looking into applying for a few web design jobs in my area to see what they have to offer. -
What a wait. I'm in CA too, the Bay Area. Took the local SS office less than a week to mail out my card; this was in April.
-
There's had been cases where a 10 day wait was needed, not sure why some people run into this delay. I went the next day after receiving my EAD and applied with no issue.
