you cant get financial aid unless you are a citizen or a legal resident. if she just has the work permit she can apply for the BOGG scholarship which waives off the tuition fees from whatever college/university you are attending and all you pay for are the books. this new waiver was implemented in the beginning of this year. should try to apply for it before the fall semester.

It sucks to hear this. Unfortunately this is not the first time where a lawyers messes up someones case. I hope everything gets sorted out for you. Best of luck.

Santi is right. I was approved on May 9th and they received my app on October 9th. I was also getting very desperate and thinking everyone around me was getting approved but me and it just happened when I least expected it. I know its hard to not check everyday and to stay positive, but since they didn't provide a list of reasons why they approved some faster than others, there's nothing else to do but wait. On another note I got my congresswoman involved after someone made a thread about it, I go approved a week after I contacted her. I don't know if she had a hand in it but I did everything that I thought would help and everyone that is still waiting should too.

Congrats man, I got approved on the 9th. Hopefully a lot more people from the california service center get approved.

Yeah, cant wait to finally have a drivers license

I was calling them again and again since april 9th which was my 6 month mark and they kept telling me the same thing about them working on apps from August 31st. Did a service request last week and got approved yesterday. So maybe the service request was what did it for my case, hopefully it does it for you. However I got my congresswoman involved in my case aswell so maybe that also helped. If you haven't contacted your congressman/woman about it, you should do it. Just do everything that might help speed up your process.

I got a service request on momday and they told me that if I didn't hear from them by the 21st, to call them back because they should have something to tell me by then. I don't know about the whole 60 days thing.

I faxed and emailed her, her office sent me an email last week saying that they had received my information and were going to look into my case in a timely manner.
