deferred action lawyer How much is your lawyer taxing you?
sotero_gonzalez replied to Admin's topic in Dream Lounge
i paid 160$, the application is straight forward but i wanted peace of mind so i went with someone that did this for a living assuming he wont make any mistakes. however, i have heard people around school paying up to 2500$ to a lawyer on top of the 460$ mandatory fee. -
hopefully the one that is still alive gives some sort of insight on their motives given that they were both very intelligent academically and clearly dont demonstrate any obvious reason for such actions. it sucks that now they are suggesting to bring this incident up during the immigration reform debates. it seems as if when one foreigner does something wrong, we all pay for it, hopefully this wont tip the balance in the wrong direction during the debates and once again immigrants get used as escape goats for a crime that had nothing to do with a reform that we have been waiting for a long time now. i cant imagine how hard it must be for the families that lost a loved one and for those whole lost limbs during this event. i myself have participated in the L.A marathon a handful of times and an attack like this one is the last thing one would expect at such an event because of how much damage and devastation in can cause and it did. my heart is with everyone affected from this tragic incident. i hope justice is served.

Well that's what they told me when I called on Tuesday. They've been saying that for 3 weeks already. -
Got Approved!!! After A Month If Beeing Transfer!!
sotero_gonzalez replied to Leugenia27's topic in General Discussions
well they shouldve transfered all of them in my opinion, its incredibly upsetting that they are still working on the applications from august 31st, or so they say. -

can you request a transfer? the california center seems to be very behind. -
i read a post that someone called and they told them that the california service center was flooded and closed for a few weeks and thats why they are soo behind. that seems like another bs excuse

What The Fudggeee!!! Approved From Vermont!!
sotero_gonzalez replied to esteband's topic in General Discussions
Congrats. Worth the wait right? -
I don't think its because they got lawyers that they got approved right away, a lot of people that I know didn't get lawyers either and they got approved very quick. I went with a group of people through our college to the hermandad mexicana in santa ana and they were the ones that filed our applications. It was a total of 9 of us that went on October 9th and 5 got approved within 3 months. I've called and asked what they look at for faster approvals but they don't say anything, they just say that it depends on the background check and the amount of evidence that you send.

What about credit? Is it going to be hard to start building up ur credit score ... Any ideas on how to build up ur credit fast ?
sotero_gonzalez replied to taramo35's topic in Life After Deferred Action
i started credit with my itin number at a furniture store back in high school, now i have great credit, no credit cards, but i do have 4 car loans under my name, ironically everyone with a good social in my family has crappy credit so ive helped a few of them get cars, brand new, zero miles, no problem. just checked my score last month and i have a 760. -
Anyone Applied In Late 2012? Or 2013?
sotero_gonzalez replied to Gymnastics_junkie19's topic in Create a Poll
a lot of people on here say the more evidence you send, the better, but oftentimes people dont have a lot. it took me a whole month to gather a decent amount and even then i have doubts about the amount i sent. theres really nothing you can do if you dont have a lot of evidence. you send what you have and thats it. cant really make up stuff. -
you should definitely go for it and get a degree, its soo worth it, that way you wont have any boundaries when it comes to getting hired in the future.

if you go to a community college for 2 years being a full time student you should be able to get an AA and possibly transfer, thats if you want to go to a 4 year University.

Any One Else Going On 8 Months?
sotero_gonzalez replied to Sidfred02's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
7 months in a 2 weeks and change. the wait sucks soo bad, i hope to God the reform gets approved. ugh!! what service center are you in? -
to be able to pay for school and get a better job. i already have an AA and im very close to transferring and ive only been going part time since i cant afford to go full time. thats what im looking forward to with my approval. oh and getting a drivers license, im tired of getting paranoid over those "checkpoints" the police put up everywhere. had some very close calls already. dont feel pressure, it might take a few months to get used to being able to do all the things you can do with the approval.

unfortunately you cant say much since our status doesnt let us work "legally" so you cant just go into any place and try to work there. a lot of people on here have mentioned working under the table where maybe you know someone that owns a business and can give you a job and pay you cash or you get refferred to someone that understands the situation and will be willing to hire you regardless.
