  1. USCIS only works Monday thru Friday. Weekends and holidays are not included in the wait time. It has only been 63 working days since your bios. the estimated wait time is 4 to 6 months after your bios. Calling USCIS wont really help much since they really only give you the information that is listed on your status page anyways. Unfortunately, the only thing to do after the bios is to wait until there is a decision or until a RFE is issued. As much as lawyers want to promise that they process wont take long, no one really knows because every case is different and every service center is different as well. There are still some who filed in August and September who are either not approved yet or have received RFEs.
  2. First Job

i've worked a few jobs before DACA. waitress, nanny, grocery store, internet cafe, baseball park. after i was approved, the 1st job i had was working as a receptionist in the Onocology wing of the local hospital and now, i work for a local police department as a 911 dispatcher. if part time work is what you are looking for, why not try stores like walmart or target. they usually hire part time positions.
  3. hi and welcome. just curious about the what "old case" you are referring to and why you think you're old number will disappear? back in 2001 my mother filed an I-130 on my behalf and i have a number from that case. as far as i know, when i am able to adjust my status, i will have to give my I-130 A # on my I-485 petition. thus this number (the I-130 A#) does not disappear. if and when there is a time for DACA applicants to adjust their status they will need to use the A# they have in any and all petitions they file. an A# is like a SSN within the USCIS system.
  4. North Jersey

Welcome!!! this place is awesome for information and also just to get to know some even better people!!
  5. sending anything before you know what the RFE says may not help. even though you think thats what the RFE will says, until you know for certain, there is nothing that you can do. sending her ID with your RFE will do no good because they are two completely different cases even though you are brother and sister. also, you do not know if both cases are being handled by the same person at USCIS. mostly, they are not. just because they were filled together and so forth, does not mean that they are being process together or back to back. how long ago was the request for the RFE on your sisters case placed?
  6. Just Want To Be Sure

yes, you should. if you dont and they find out then it could delay your application. i would put it on both forms and include a copy of the I-94
  7. How Does Uscis/tsc Pick Up Certified Mail?

no, they'll try to deliver it either the next day or the day after. if it happened today, they should get it tomorrow or at least by thursday.
  8. Hi Guys

that sucks. but when i went, i didnt get asked those questions. i got asked if i had ever applied for a SSN before. and just the standard questions of DOB, address, etc.
  9. The Posibility Of An Immigration Reform

ok, so the whole "back of the line" comment kind of made me mad. lol. i've been in this country since i was a week old and this year i will turn 30. back in 2001, when my mother was still a PR, we filed the I-130 on my behalf. since then i've been dealing with the Immigration. i honestly dont think that it would be fair, to myself or people in the same situation,(have been trying to adjust their status legally) for those who have been in the country just a few yrs to receive the same benefits that I would. that's like saying to people like me, "hey, we know you've filed the correct papers and paid the fees and what not, but we're going to let other people who havent done all that just cut in line." it's not fair. i also do not think that the Dream Act, as it stands, caters to the older immigrants. As it stands, even though i have a college degree and have never been in any legal trouble, I would be too old to apply for the Dream Act. I think with the tiered CIR, i laid out, it caters to a wide varity of people in almost every situation while still giving them a chance to not only apply but too gain legal status. i also dont agree with the whole "pay back taxes" issue either. as it is, when I am able to adjust my status through my I-130, i will need to pay a $1000 fine for EWI. ok, that's fine. but then to have to t pay maybe $3000 or $4000 "fine" upon the filing fees, is just too much. and yes, i do have a job but $4000 is a whole months pay.how do they expect immigrants to want the "american" dream when there are a lot of americans who dont pay taxes and live off the system. Fair?? i think not.
  10. The Posibility Of An Immigration Reform

payback taxes?? now does that apply to those who worked illegaly? what would be the point of making those who dont work pay taxes? americans who dont work dont pay income taxes, why should those in our situation pay taxes if someone of us didnt work illegally? BACK OF THE LINE!!!!???? define that please??
  11. have you been DACA approved and not EAD approved? or are you asking just in general? i think in CA, you can get a DL if your are approved for DACA as long as you have a letter from the SSA saying that you are ineligible for a SSN. I am not sure about other states as you would have to look at their requirements for a DL and may also have to check into whether or not you can still get a SSN without a valid EAD.
  12. Taking Too Long?

i've always been able to talk to someone about my case without an InfoPass. the InfoPass is an appointment confirmation paper that you print out when you make an appointment to go to an actually USCIS office, not just a service or application center. what did you tell them when you called? (if you dont mind me asking)
  13. must remember: God does not give you anymore in life then what He knows you can handle. sometimes that a little easier said then to believe.

  14. Approved Daca Benefit Parents?

i havent heard anything but it would be interesting to know what it would be considering DACA doesnt give DACA approved applicants any legal status and there for DACA applicants couldnt apply to adjust, not only their own, but anyone else's status as well.
  15. honestly, other then not being able to drive legally, i've lived a normal life. i've worked jobs, gone and finished high school and college. i've been able to travel within the US with just my valid passport. i've been in this country since i was a week old and know nothing about my country of birth. my mother and my grandparents both have always told me, that is i wanted something bad enough and had the power to do so, then i need to do it. things beyond my control are just that, beyond my control. no sense of trying to change something that you cant change.
  16. Hello from california!

    mine did.
  17. if you're DACA approved then no. for the most part cops just issue the tickets and dont bother calling ICE unless the person has serious warrants. just a word to the wise, if you dont have a DL, then you shouldnt be driving. save yourself the trouble of having to deal with it the first time and then again once you re-apply for DACA in the future.
  18. Taking Too Long?

you should have received 2 letters from USCIS after you sent in your applications. 1 saying they received the I-821D and the other is the receipt for the I-765. then you should have received the biometerics letter saying where and when you need to go to have your fingerprints taken. after the biometerics, it's pretty much a waiting game after that. if you havent done your biometerics yet, then you need to call USCIS and tell them that you havent received your biometerics letter.
  19. that you have no license. DACA isnt going to help. depending on what state you live in, you will get a ticket for driving without a license and depending on if the car is registered and insured, the car may be impounded. you will have to appear in court, pay the fines, and what ever else the court orders.
  20. Hello from california!

USCIS only worked monday through friday. no weekends or holidays. calculate the business days since your bios. http://www.workingdays.us/ calling unfortunately wont help because for the most part they will tell you the same thing that your status online does and to wait some more. the 4 to 6 month wait time starts after your bios and not when USCIS received your application.
  21. YES!!!. cleared to go back to work. THANK YOU Tamiflu!!!

  23. i dont think age has any thing to do with it. i got approve about a week after my bios and this year i'll turn 30. just because you and your sister sent in your application together and maybe did your bios on the same day doesnt mean that after your bios, the applications were placed on the same desk or same pile together. the cases arent processed in any order.
  24. College Help

i would make an apt with the financial aid office and see what's out there. they would know better then anyone what you might be able to get.
