  1. i think it depends on the person that actually looks at your case too. after your bio, you case is looked at by an actual person so depending on how fast or slow they work depends on how soon your case gets looked at. cases arent looked at in the order that they are received either, we all know that's true.
  2. i was approved a week after my bios but it all depends on the center your case is at. there are other forums with people who applied in august and september that are still waiting.
  3. rainy rainy day!!!

  4. the certificate alone wont let you drive. you take it to the DMV, show it to them and apply for your permit. if i understand it correctly, having the certificate allows you to not have to take the written test for the permit.
  5. you'll just have to wait and see what the RFE says. sometimes you think it's one thing and it could be something different. you should get it soon though and then just go from there
  6. it's hard to say. from what i've been hearing, USCIS says 4 to 6 months. some people have been approved fast and others are still waiting. it all depends on which service center you have as well.
  7. from what i read in the FAQ is that once you complete the course and show it to the DMV, you will not need to take the written test for your permit. so i guess having the certificate will allow you to get your driving permit.
  8. RFE is a Request for Evidence. which ,means that USCIS needs to see more evidence in addition to what you sent. sometimes is something minor, like a certain time frame and other times its because people didnt send enough evidence. and usually the RFE letter will say what USCIS want evidence they need to see.
  9. Hi I'm new here

i used my passport but others have used the consulate ID (if you have one) other have used student IDs.
  10. Really Important!

honestly, i think it's a little fishy. as bad as that sounds. i mean, everyone who has called knows that getting an answer, let alone, a straight answer is hard enough but be given the "exact" date on which your case is going to be reviewed sounds a little too good to be true. every time i have called, whether for DACA or for my I-130, i've always been told to wait 15 days or 30 days or 45 days but have never been given an exact date. if that were the case, i would LOVE to be told when a visa number will be available for me so i can adjust my status. LMAO
  11. Question

it sucks having to think about it. he can continue to work where is at while looking for other jobs. that way, he still has a job but can be honest if and when a new job comes up. my sister use to work at a hotel and one of her co-workers was fired because she finally become a PR so she went and asked HR to change her info and they fired her. said that they never would have never hired her if they knew she was illegal.

  13. MINORS QUESTION

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/online/ss-5.pdf page 3 states that if one is under 18, they can either sign for themselves or have their parent sign for them.this being said, i would believe that one could apply by themselves if they are under 18. you can always call before you go
  14. Really Important!

    did you call on saturday?
  15. Question

depends on his employer.do they know that he was working illegally? he can take his chances and talk to the HR person and ask them to change his info but there's always the chance that the company may fire him because he provided false information. worse case is that he does get fired. then he can use his new SSN and EAD when he applies for other jobs. best base is that the company changes his info and he keeps his job. i would say be honest and accept what happens after that.
  16. Who Helped you with your DACA application

I did mine myself. I found the applications simple and seeing how i'm OCD about paperwork, it wasnt too hard to get that in order. i know in a town close to where i live, there is a place called Hispanic Services that is helping people with the applications. I guess it all depends on where you live in terms of what kind of help you need.
  17. Vacationing close to the Mexico/US border HELP!

or you flying? driving? if you are driving, as along as you stay on the 281 freeway through south texas then you're still in the US and have nothing to worry about. passing through a CBP checkpoint isnt a big deal. just make sure that you have your ID, EAD, SSN, and your DACA letters, just in case they have any questions.

  21. Ead or just social security

on a lot of job application it will ask if you can work legally in the US. to this question you answer yes. you also use your SSN when also filing out job application. now if the employer, you are applying with does E-Verify then you may need to show them your EAD. i recently just read an article that states that your immigration status, whether legal or illegal is a PRIVATE matter and unless asked directly you do not have to answer any question regarding it. when i am asked, my answers depends on who ask. if someone normal (like just a random person) ask, then i tell them it's none of their business and to show me THEIR papers. if it's an employer or potential employer, I tell them that i can show proper papers that will allow me to work in the US legally. most of the time, by employers or potential employers dont really ask. if they do hire you, you will need to show them your ID and your SSN. your SSN will show that it is only for "Employment Purposes Only"
