My permit was denied in Kentucky.
pswa83 replied to askquestion's topic in Life After Deferred Action
i understand that but on the Non-US Citizen application it does not ask for a parents license number like it does on the regular application. -
my mother filed an I-130 for me back in 2001. it was approved back in 2005 but i'm still waiting for a visa number to become available for me. which should only take another 8 - 10 yrs. i've heard that common names could slow the process. but who really knows why some people get approved faster then other.

after your biometrics, it's pretty much a waiting game. some have been approved fast and for others it has taken time. as for passing through a CBP checkpoint, you can. there is another member on the forum that just did this month and had no problems. as for moving, when and if you do move, make sure that you inform USCIS that you have moved and also the SSA. the last thing you want to have happen is that your USCIS papers or letters get lost.

high school senior.. should i put New ssn on college application?
pswa83 replied to askquestion's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
yeah you should put it on the app. as for as scholarship for DACA students, that is something you are going to have to ask the financial aid department at the school you are applying to -
State of Arizona Sued for refusing to give DACA recipients ID/ DL
pswa83 replied to Brookness's topic in Dream Act News
although i LOVE the idea of this. i honestly do not think it is going to help. AZ opted out of the federal law so they dont have to obey it. -
it means that they mailed something to you on that date. have you received anything in november?
-
i believe it would. i would also send a copy of your transcripts if you have them as well.
-
you should be able to. they verify your SSN while your there
-
yeah, about a week or so
-
after the text you'll get the 2 letters from USCIS then about a week after that, you should get the letter for your bio

My permit was denied in Kentucky.
pswa83 replied to askquestion's topic in Life After Deferred Action
ok, so i did a little googling and this is what i found. if you are applying for a regular ID/License in KY there is one app. on that app is asked for your parents DL number if you are under the age of 18. there is a second app for Non-US Citizen applicants. this is for people who are not US citizens but may work in your case because you do have a SSN and an EAD. this is the link for the 2nd app. http://transportation.ky.gov/Organizational-Resources/Forms/TC%2094-152.pdf hopefully it helps and you can get your license. -

could be just that state's law. have you read the handbook? and made sure that you have everything that you need in order to get a permit? -
Prove that I was here before my 16 birthday.
pswa83 replied to Nerdfrankie's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
yes it will. i guess my shot records, my grade and middle school records and proof that i was here before i was 16. -
being honest is a good thing. however, i also believe that the experience that i gained from past jobs, is MY experience. why should i not list it? when making my resume for the job i have now, i listed my past job experiences and if they asked about them, i talked about it. they havent asked about my SSN or EAD. with my resume, i also have letters of reference from my past bosses who knew that i was illegal. those letters really help and also say nothing about me not having a SSN when i worked for them.

WHAT IF YOU GOT A TICKET IN SCHOOL FOR FIGHTING LOL
pswa83 replied to beatrizrivera909's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
yeah, usually school tickets are on a different system then the city police system. my brother got one in high school too and paid it and was worried that it might show up when he applied for the CHP (california highway patrol). he put it on the app and they told him it didnt show up because it's given by school police and not regular police. you shouldnt have had to get your "criminal record" because mostly everything comes up when they check your fingerprints. -
i just studied the handbook. most of it is common sense. there are 4 verisons of the written test so unless you get all 4, your studying will be limited. i just walked into the DMV and grabbed a handbook and walked out.

you need to apply for a SSN, if you already do not have one. You go to the SSA office where you live. Show them your EAD along with your passport or birth certificate. Once you have your SSN, you go to the DMV, and apply for an ID. i applied for the ID the same day i took my permit test and then took my behind the wheel test a week after i got my permit.

did he give you the whole "wait 15 days for a response" thing? i changed my address last month and i'm still waiting for a confirmation letter about it. if it's past 15 days, then you should call again and bug them

On your late 20s and waiting longer thn you think??
pswa83 replied to Gino10's topic in Dream Lounge
they're doing their jobs. you can only work so much during the day and i'm pretty sure the workload is heavy with even more people applying after the elections. -
calling really doesnt do much help. they never give me any info other then basic stuff. but not status update or anything like that. they always tell me to make an appointment at a USCIS office.

Hola Diego!! your do not need to have your passport and your consulate ID should be ok. your birth certificate will need to be translated. google it and you should be able to find a site that will do it for cheap. if you have been here since you were 5, then you should use all your school records. kindergarden to high school. immunization shot records, if you still have them. this will show that you were in the US before your were 16. and after as well. bank statements, any piece of mail with your name and address on it cant also be used. any medical records, lease agreements your parents signed that list you on it. college records can help too. when i sent in my papers, i sent in all my school records, college regristration papers, lease agreements, bank statements, doctors visits, etc. the more paperwork you have the better. hopefully all that helps. ask any other questions you have. good luck!!
