Will they drug test us when we apply?
pswa83 replied to Frakn's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
seeing how long term marijuana use it's own problems (problems with your immune system, problems with your lungs, etc...), you should stop smoking in general. if and when you apply for a job, most places do drug testing before they hire you and it will show up which will cause you not to be hired. -
Romney's Immigration Clarification (Re-clarified) - New York Times (blog)
pswa83 replied to Admin's topic in Dream Act News
this just proves what i have been saying all along. Romney would leave us in the same situation that we were in before DACA. and knowing how Romney feels about illegal immigrants, i believe that if he were to take action of his whole "self-deportation" thing, those who applied for, and were either granted or denied, for DACA,would be on some sort of list that Romney could use to start his "reformed" immigration policy. Meaning that those on that list could be ordered deported under Romney's administration. No way is this man good for this country. He only cares about the rich, (i.e. him and those like him) getting richer and the poor getting poorer. or as he stated, "the 47% of Americans who dont pay taxes" this man will NEVER know what it is like to leave paycheck to paycheck or have to go to a soup kitchen for a meal. He will never know how it feels to look his children or grandchildren in the face and explain to them why they dont have food in the fridge. And that's why Romney will not win in November. TOTALLY unrelatable to the REAL AMERICAN PEOPLE. -
this makes me believe that even though he will not revoke DACA, he will not continue it either. which in a sense, if that happens, those approved DACA applicants will be in the same situation that they were in before being granted DACA.

it takes between 7 - 10 days to get your SSN in the mail. -
First Wave of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Applications Approved
pswa83 replied to JoseG's topic in Dream Act News
that might happen depending on how the election turns out. if obama loses (and i dont think he will) everything who hasnt filed yet will so do then. which means the wait times might be longer. -
Hi Paul. this is a great place to chat and ask (and sometimes answer) question with other people who are in the same situation. hope everything works out for you.

How to obtain a Social Security Number after DACA Approval
pswa83 replied to JoseG's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
I would think that if they are under 18 and their parents have legal status that there would be some way for them to gain legal status through their parents instead of applying for DACA. and as for as being under 18 and having to show "other" documents, define "other"? i would think USCIS would let them know what other documentation they would want to see. But if they have all the other required documentation then i do not see why USCIS would ask for "other" documentation -

it would be interesting to see if someone was granted DACA and did not get a EAD. -

i think it's because USCIS may not approve everything for an EAD but might approve them for DACA. Maybe? -
i've been to the USCIS building in San Bernardino and thought it would be like that. That building is HUGE!!!!

For anyone who already have taken their biometrics test, what should we expect?
pswa83 replied to Bee1989's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
Millie, i got my passport done last month at a mobile consulate that the mexican consulate had in my area. well, more like 40 mins away but it was better then nothing at the time. i had an appt for my passport at 12pm and got there at 11:30am and was told that they were barely taken the 9:00am appts. i did notice however, that there was a few people who pushed their way through the line and got their passport. It took all day for it to get done. Arrived at 11:30am and left after 6:00pm. I would see if you cant just show up to where they are having the passports done and see if you cant "push" your way through the line. Good Luck -
I don't know how much I believe that people were just able to "walk in" and get their biometrics done. Its not the DMV. If someone just even has a question and they want to go to a USCIS office, the have to make an appointment. I think they would look at you like "where are you here?" Where is your appt letter or notice?

I am sure I want to tell him. Trust me, telling people isn't something I take lightly. I just want to be able to show him that I am working on my situation when I tell him because I don't want hime thinking I need to marry him in order to get my papers. I want him to know and love me for the person I am and not think that I am with him just because there is a problem that needs to be fixed and its not his problem to fix. We'll see. Time will only tell. When friends ask why I don't drive, I just tell them driving scares me. It doesn't because I LOVE to drive, I just want to do it legally. And if someone ask why I don't work, I tell them I don't because I take care of my grandma who had a stroke this yr. And they understand.

Same here, only family knows and my both my ex boyfriends. Current boyfriend doesn't know but I promised Itzel that after I got approved, I would tell him. It sucks being the only one in my family who is not a citizen. Honestly, I keep it from people because I never knowhow they are going to react if I tell them. I've been open about it in the past when dating someone new, and then they fall off the face of the earth cuz they think all I want is to get married so I can get my papers. Soooo not the case. Probably why I didn't tell my boyfriend now but I will if everything works out.

Saw it too. Was sooooo proud that at the DNC, us Dreamers had a face!! And not only a face but an educated and well spoken face. I hope now, people on the outside will seperate us from the criminal illegal immigrants.

By what month will we be able to work, after doing biometrics?
pswa83 replied to itzel's topic in Dream Lounge
I'm hoping by novemeber as well. One can go to the uscis website and look at the processing time for the I-765. In Nebraska*, its saying about 3 months to process the I-765 -
Mine came out ugly too. Think its standard that they do. Lol
