deferred action lawyer How much is your lawyer taxing you?
pswa83 replied to Admin's topic in Dream Lounge
this is exactly why i didnt use a lawyer!!! in the past i have gone to lawyers to help with my complicated case and have gotten no where. $75 here for a consulation, $50 there, all of that adds up. i'm figuring that i could have bought a car with all the money i have spent on lawyers. -
as long as you have the month and year, it should be ok. it says on the instructions to fill it in to the best of your ability. when filling out mine, i put that i entered 7 days after i was born because that is what i have always been told. so the day isnt really important but if you and/or your family can try and remember something important happening around that time to better guess the day. if not, you can always put something in the middle of the month, like the 17th or 18th.

Is a valid passport needed to apply?
pswa83 replied to yareci's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
if you are including it in the paperwork that you are sending with your DACA app, then no it does not need to be valid. However, you will need a form of valid government issued ID in order to go to the biometrics appt. if i am not mistaken, a consulate ID card will work for the biometrics appt as well. if you need to renew your passport, you will have to contact your countries consulate on how to do so. -

If I'm 15 and I've never worked before, how do I fill out Form I-765WS? PLEASE HELP. Please.
pswa83 replied to GuiCarvalho's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
you will just fill in 0 for everything on the I-765WS -
it all depends on what state you live in. I know here in CA i can get state aid for school but not federal. i think texas has it as well. all you really need to do is look at the school you want to attend, community college, junior college, what have you and see what the requirements are for in-state tuition. in CA, a person has to have graduated from a CA high school and attended that same high school for 3 years.

ha, i think we should all go to AZ once we have our papers and apply for DLs. I mean, this is denying someone of their civil rights. if someone has the right to legally drive because they have the legal documents that the DMV requires, then how can they be denied that right?

you send both the 380 and the 85 for the biometrics together when you send your app and all your paperwork. if you sent the G-1145 then you will receive either an email or txt letting you know that USCIS has received your app. then you will receive a letter--not a phone call--from USCIS notifying you have your biometrics appt. you will need to have a government issued ID to take with you along with what the letter states.

Jan Brewer Issues Executive Order Blocking DACA Benefits
pswa83 replied to Admin's topic in Dream Act News
what is she going to do though. ok so those living in the state cant get DL's so they get in trouble for driving without a DL but they cant be deported because it's not a felony. it seems like a stupid circle that she made up to try and make herself look "good"- 6 replies

Rawf, i think that what the Governor wants. Is for people like us who live in the shadows, to leave and not want to live there. my thing that baffles me is ok, yes we wont have legal status but we will be able to LEGALLY work in the US. so having that right would allow us to obtain a DL and state ID.

i read the instructions sooo many times and completely missed that.

yan88, if your husband is an Officer in the Airforce, then i would apply through him. it will be a better situation for you. If you apply through him you will get permanant residency which will lead to citizenship. with DACA that path is not possible. if you can find the legal aid office on base and see if they can help you or google catholic charities where you live. they have lawyers that work there and it cost less.

Do I need to have a passport or just having my birth certificate is good enough?
pswa83 replied to Rickyerique's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
Rickyerique, this is the place i used and they are great. did my BC perfect. and it's only $34 so it's pretty cheap http://www.certified-translation-services-us.com/index.html and in terms of the ID you have, here is the link from USCIS saying what you will need to take to the biometrics appt. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f183bd85ef149210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=f183bd85ef149210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD -

pswa83 replied to Rickyerique's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
paperwork wise, the passport proves your identity. your birth certificate does the same thing. please remember to have your birth certificate translated and notarized. you will need some kind of VALID government issued ID (passport, country ID, etc..) when you receive the letter telling you of your biometrics appt.
