For Us Dreamers, What Are We Exactly Getting With The Immigration Reform?
pswa83 replied to dreamer2008's topic in Create a Poll
i also heard that with RPI, for us at least, we will be able to apply for citizenship once the 5 yrs and once a green card is obtain because the "normal" 3 yr wait period in order to apply for citizenship would be enrolled into the 5 yr wait of RPI. the "normal" wait would be 3 yrs AFTER one has obtained a GC. we as RPIs (Dream path) would have those 3 yrs combined in the 5 yrs we would wait in order to apply for a GC. therefore making us eligible for citizenship right after we obtained a GC. now, there's no saying how long it will take to actually get a GC with this new system, let alone how long it would take in order to obtain citizenship. -
Will An Unpaid Traffic Ticket Disqualify Me For Daca
pswa83 replied to AP88's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
i would talk to a lawyer if possible. the thing is is that if the ticket went into collections, more then likely the court might have issued a warrant for your arrest. if you still have your tickets and court papers, include them in your DACA paperwork so that you dont get a RFE after you send in your application. also, there are a few counties in CA, where you can go online and look at your court case online. if you can do this, then do it, print out what you can and then go to the lawyer. i know minor traffic tickets will be overlooked in your DACA application but it will still come up on the background check. if now you have a job and can start paying again, i would call the collections and ask if you can start making payments again. but like i said, get a lawyer and ask them about it. -
no. those numbers approval and denial numbers do not say when those applicant applied. they could have been august or september applicants. also, i highly doubt that those who just applied (april thru june) will be approved within the nxt 2 months seeing how it takes about a month now to get a bios appt. there are some cases that are approved fast and others have a long wait. the only certain thing is that nothing is certain. every case is different. every agent works at a different pace. every service center is different. RFE's affect cases. background checks affects cases.

i would check with the school you want to attend. there are some private schools that will not even let DACA approved applicants apply. so check the schools requirements and when asking the school, just say you that have a valid SSN and have legal presence in the US. also if asked if you have a student visa, say no and that you do not need one. another good idea, would be to talk to an actual admissions rep because usually the first person you talk to in the admissions office will not have a lot of knowledge about DACA. talking to an admissions rep will let you get more information from a better source. talking to a financial aid rep too would be a good idea because as DACA applicants we can not receive funds from FAFSA. if even a school ask you to fill one out, that is ok, because a lot of the times, what will happen is that FAFSA will send a letter saying you are not eligible for FAFSA because of your status but this will allow the school to find other financial aid options for you. if you are in CA, you qualify for in state tuition if you attended a CA high school and graduated from a CA high school. the CA Dream Act allows undocumented student to apply for financial aid.

makes you wonder why some are approved fast and other have to wait so much longer.

Good Car Insurance For Daca Approved Person
pswa83 replied to flatlinebeforedeath's topic in General Discussions
depending on your age, you can try being placed on someone else's policy. also, depending on the age of the car, sometimes the best thing to do is to just get the minimum the state requires you to have. if you own your car out right (make no payments) then this is your best option. 1.) you'll have insurance and 2.) you gain driving experience as well. if you bought a new car and are making payments on the car, a lot (if not all) the major car companies, require you to have full coverage insurance while you are still making payments. this is going to be expensive because you are a "new" driver. my mom and i both have The General, both of the cars are currently listed under her name with me as an added driver and the monthly payments are about $225 only because my car is new and and I have a year worth of payments left. but for two cars and two drivers, that's pretty good. both cars are fully covered. sometimes too, the little Mom and Pop insurance companies that you see near the DMV or around town may work as well. just have to shop around and keep in mind that as a "new" driver, it's going to cost a bit to be covered. -

even though you have lived in the US for a long time, what matters is the paper aspect of everything. techincally you have only been legally presence in the US since your EAD was made. there are a lot of states that will grant in state tuition to DACA applicants but only if they meet other requirements first. and there are some schools that wont even let DACA applicants apply to the school. does the school you are trying to apply to know that you have a US high diapolma? here in CA, if one atteneded high school for 3 years in CA and graduated from a CA high school then they qualify for in state tuition. now CA has the CA Dream Act which will allow student to apply for money for school. i would do some research on what the school requires as residency, print it out and then make an appt with an admin rep and financial aid rep. sometimes when you talk to the people at the desk at the admin or registors office, usually they are students on a student work program and dont know much. so if you can do a little research make those appts and see what happens. worse thing that happens, is that you have to wait a yr to pay residency tuition. in the mean time, see if you can take one class, that way when you register for more classes (when you're paying residency tuition) you are considered a return student and get into core classes sooner.

i would think that they went off either your BC or your passport. i put my mothers last name first and my 2nd last name last cuz that's the way it was written on my BC and passport.

seeing how it was a error from your lawyer, thus qualifing it under an "administrative error". i would suggest you calling USCIS yourself and and ask about being able to reapply based on that. Administrative Errors You may request a review using the Service Request Management Tool process if you met all of the process guidelines and you believe that your request was denied because of an administrative error. Examples of administrative errors include USCIS denying your request for deferred action because: USCIS believes you abandoned your case by not responding to a Request for Evidence (RFE) and you claim that you did respond to the RFE within the prescribed time; or USCIS mailed the RFE to the wrong address, even though you had submitted a Form AR-11, Change of Address, or changed your address online at www.uscis.gov before the issuance of the Request for Evidence. To make a service request, you must call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. A USCIS customer service representative will then forward your request to the proper USCIS office. Your service request will be reviewed for accuracy and USCIS will send you a letter informing you of its decision. The USCIS National Customer Service Center is now open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. in each U.S. time zone.

i dont think that's entirely true. i graduated hs back in 2001,started college in 2004 (not currently enrolled) have no kids, never been in the hospital or anything like that and i was able to prove my residency. there are people who have graduated within the past few yrs and cant prove residency because they didnt do anything after hs.

this was a city bus stop, not like greyhound. so why they were there, who knows.

over here in CA in the Coachella Valley, I see the Border Patrol all the time. I saw them at the bus stop in front of Walmart yesterday and along the rail road tracks too. i laughed when i saw them at the bus stop, seemed a little random but i'm not nervous or scared when i see them or if they were to pull me over. i already know what to say if they ever do detain me....lol

Received A Request For Evidence Letter.
pswa83 replied to andrei's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
ahhh, yeah that is soon. but once you get the letter and all the evidence, you can send it back priority mail, it cost like 6 bucks and USCIS will get it 2 or 3 days laters. -
Request For Evidence (Request Service)
pswa83 replied to TheGame1990's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
did you use a lawyer when you applied? if you did then the lawyer would have the RFE and should have told you when they received it. if not then, make sure you stay on top of it because the RFE will have a deadline date in which USCIS must receive the RFE back. -
Received A Request For Evidence Letter.
pswa83 replied to andrei's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
seeing how you are not able to go in person to his office, i would call USCIS tuesday (1st thing in the morning 8am) and ask if you need to send the original. explain to them that your lawyer has the original and that you are unable to get in contact with him/her due to their lack of communication. i would gather what they are asking for and when you get an answer from USCIS (hopefully, it's ok to send a copy of the RFE) then you can mail it out (from the post office would be best) the same day. btw, when is the due date for your RFE? -
Approve For Work Permit Green Cars Today 5/22/2013
pswa83 replied to miguel2013's topic in Dream Lounge
once USPS issues a tracking number and it's posted on your status then it should take a couple days for it to get to you. -
mostly likely approved. when a RFE is issued, only the I-821D is updating stating that a RFE was issued. the I-765 is not updated with a RFE.

What Documents Not To Include In Daca App?!?
pswa83 replied to medinaj06's topic in Dream Act Questions & Answers
i wouldnt include anything with a fake SSN. if your paystubs show your legal name with no SSN, then i would include them. also if you have bank statements, i would include those as well. anything with your ITIN, as long as it doesnt show the fake SSN, should be fine too. -
i read a different article about this and was COMPLETELY floored. i think it's completely false when they say that USCIS is being "forced" to approved applications without being able to fully look at the application. if that was the case, then A LOT more people would have been approved for visas. seeing how there are still DACA applicants from august and september waiting for approval, i do not understand where they are getting this from. no one is sitting at their desk with a gun to their head being "forced" to approve applications. USCIS is taking their sweet ass time in approving not only DACA applications but other applications as well.

no, it can take less or it can take longer. it all depends on how fast the SSA validates your status with DHS. some have been able to receive a printout of their number before actually getting their card.
