  1. because both my birth certificate and my passport (both Mexican) have both of my last names, i wrote down both last names on my DACA application and the EAD application. Now, my EAD, SSN, DL, and State ID have both last names.
  2. you should call, talk to a CSR and have it corrected. the DMV will use the name that is on the EAD regardless if its spelled correctly or not. also, is your name spelled that way on any on your I-797C letters? or your approval letters?
  3. ok PERSONAL OPINION here: Rubio just needs to shut his mouth already. He knows NOTHING about the struggles, that many if not all of us here, have experience when it comes to the Immigration process. He was born in FL and all though his grandfather has gone through Immigration proceeding, Rubio, himself, has never had to live in the shadows of being undocumented. One thing CIR may do is shut down the "free pass" that Cubans are given and make them apply for status just like everyone else. Why is it OK, for Cubans to get a red carpet when they come to the US and not anyone else that comes to the US illegally? Not saying that all illegals should get a red carpet, but if other illegals face penalties and possible barment from the US, why shouldn't Cubans face the same?
  4. Change Of Address

i changed my address shortly after applying fr DACA. at my bios appt, i noticed on the computer screen, when the lady was taking my fingerprints, my old address was still listed as my address. i asked the lady if she could change it and she told me that she didnt have the ability to but advised me to along with the online request to also mail in the paper form of the AR-11 and also change your address with USPS. this will ensure that none of your mail gets lost. i did all three and have gotten everything mailed to the new address no problem. with all the delays the USCIS is experiencing, i would give it 30 days before calling and asking a CSR to change your address.
  5. Immigration Deal.

i beg to differ with what the petition states. i've never had a SSN before DACA, not even an ITIN, and was able to get cable service. the purpose of providing a SSN is for the cable company to check if 1.) you have any outstanding debts with them and 2.) to determine your deposit fee. i didnt provide a SSN when i got my cable service back in 2007. i did have to pay a full deposit though. i used my 2007 monthly cable statements as proof of residency for 2007. also, if one does have an ITIN, they can get utility services and even leases. it all depends on where you live. i live in palm springs, ca and about 20 / 30 mins east of me, there are apartment building that will lease to someone who doesnt have a SSN or even an ITIN. as along as they can pay the rent, they'll get an apartment. all i need when i rented my apartment back in 2007, was a co-signer in case anything happened.
  6. you can try and apply this week. worse they will tell you is to wait 10 days. if your passport is current then that should work just fine. your parents do not to sign the application. this link is provided by the SSA and explains what to take when applying for a SSN. i would print it out, take your approvals letters, along with every and anything on the list that may be helpful. http://ssa.gov/pubs/deferred_action.pdf
  7. Immigration Deal.

  9. think it was a mis-type. i noticed that too
  10. Anyone From Cali

mine timeline is below as well. CA has seemed to either transferred case to TX or either issued RFEs. at least with an RFE, you know that your case has been looked at.
  11. my DL shows both last names. that's the way it is on my EAD and also my DACA paperwork. i tried to just put the last name i use but the lady at the DMV wouldnt let me.
  12. both work schedules for 2 weeks is going to KILL me!!!

  13. More Info

USCIS asking for more evidence is normal is the person who is reviewing your file feels like the evidence you sent isnt enough. I would call first thing monday morning as ask if the RFE can be sent again because you havent received it yet. usually with the RFE, there is a date in which you need to return the RFE or USCIS will consider your case abandoned and your case will be denied.

They're not entirely wrong for thinking that. CIR is a comprehensive Reform, which means that it includes the Dream Act...but I understand your frustration. :)

  17. Forms For Traveling

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=b11747a55773d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD you will also need to provide paperwork supporting the reason of why you need to leave the country. education papers saying you've been accepted to studying overseas. a death certificate of the family member who has passed. a letter from a doctor and/or hospital stating that treatment is not available in the US.
  18. try doing one online. that way you dont have to deal with CSR being all rude and what not.
  19. honestly, no one, besides USCIS, knows why some people get approved sooner then other while others took months to either get approved or have a RFE sent to them. people have ideas and theories on how or why this happens but all we can do guess. it is important to realize that all cases are different and processed differently and also processed by different people at USCIS. so if 2 people who have the same evidence and submitted their apps on the same, took their bios on the same, will not be approved on the same day. their cases could be, and are, most likely process by 2 different people at USCIS. the wait time starts once USCIS has received your application and evidence, given that it is complete and the correct payment is submitted. since you submitted your application in october, you will reach the 5 month mark this month. until there is an update on your case, there is not much you can do but wait. if you have signed up online for the Status Updates, then in most cases, you will receive a txt or email stating that you case has been updated. if you receive an RFE, at least you know that your case has been looked at and that a decision would be made as soon as you send the RFE back. best thing to do is to keep busy and not check your status online a million times a day. it only drives you crazy.

  21. License & IDs by State.

ok, on that link it says this: If you cannot prove you have lived in Texas for at least 30 days and that you are here legally (steps 1 and 2), ask a driver license employee for information about Texas’ Temporary Visitor Policy maybe that would give you a temp permit so that you can still drive while gaining time to show residency. also, do you have any sort of bank accounts or anything like that? i dont know how old you are or when you graduated high school but if those records are recent could also work as well.
  22. License & IDs by State.

i dont think just the approval letter itself would work. think you would need the EAD along with your physical SSN card. here is a link on what documents you can show in order to prove residency. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/internetforms/Forms/DL-57.pdf
  23. being charged with a DUI is never a good thing. it doesnt matter what the BAL is, if one is charged with it then he/she is charged. usually what happens is that once a court date is set, there will be guidelines in which the person will need to follow. AA meetings Community Service Traffic School Fines that need to be paid. Probation also, if the person has a DL, then it will be suspended until all the guidelines are met. if one does not have a DL, then he/she will probably not be allowed to get their DL for a certain time. usually if all the guidelines are met and the fines paid, then after the probation period is over, he/she can ask to have it taken off their record. you can submit his DACA application now and include the arrest record in his paperwork, or wait until after you submit and see if an RFE is sent to you.
  24. either being in high school, graduated from high school or having a GED or being in a GED course are all required for DACA. being enrolled in school, is not required if you fall within one of those 4 categories. you do no have to be in school after you are approved. however, taking advantage of any and all options there are for DACA approved students is always a good thing.
  25. you could be 31 however, you would have had to turn 31 AFTER June 15, 2012 not before.
