  1. no new Pope today. interested to see who it could be :-/

  2. when we do the biometrics, isnt that, in a way, registering with DHS. i mean, they have our fingerprints and all our info, what else do they want? and what would "registering" with DHS entail exactly? also " filing federal taxes for their time in America", how would that work for those who havent worked at all? let's say, it will be $2000 for federal taxes for every year that you have been in the US illegally. that would mean that i would have to pay $60,000 in federal taxes for my time of being in the US ilegally. and that's on top of the fine that will also be issued. things need to be more defined before anyone gets their hopes up about anything of this stuff. OK, LET ME SAY THAT THE SECTION IN BLUE IS JUST A WHAT IF. THAT IS NOT WHAT WILL HAPPEN. I DIDNT HEAR IT FROM ANYONE OR READ IT FROM ANYWHERE!!! IT IS JUST A WHAT IF!!! JUST WANT TO MAKE THAT CLEAR!!
  3. dont think this says anything that we dont already know.
  4. if you forget to sign it, USCIS will send it back to you. then you sign it then send it back to USCIS. if you get it back, double check everything and if you have thought of or found more evidence that you can put in your packet, then put it in there before sending it back.

  7. Social Security?

both my mothers and sisters starts with 6. that is because they applied for their SSNs in CA. my brothers was born in TX and his starts with 4 and mine starts with 8.
  8. Aproved For Daca Ssn Help?!

you can list your current job as a reference when you apply for a new job. not having matching SSNs wont matter because when a new or prospective employer calls a reference, they usually ask how long as the person worked there, what kind of employee they are, etc. nothing gets asked about SSNs. if you work for a company that has an HR department, then ask the HR department what needs to be done in order for you to change your SSN. this comes with some risk as well. if you lied about being able to legally work in the US and used a false SSN, then the company does have the right to terminate you due to the fact that you lied on your application. i'm not saying this to scare you but just to prepare you for what could happen. it's always good to have a plan B in case this happens. if your CNA license is through the state, like it is here in CA, i would call the state department that handles CNA licenses and ask how you go about changing your SSN on your license. they may ask why you need to do so and if you applied with a false SSN, then that could present a problem.

  10. it would depend on the state that you live in and the school that you are wanting to attend. in CA, one if one attended a CA hs school and graduated from that same high school, then they would qualify for in-state tuition. there is also the CA Dream Act that allows undocumented students to apply for financial aid. there are other states that offer in-state tuition to undocumented students. however, some private colleges will not accept DACA applicants. it would be best to speak to an Admissions Rep at the college you are wanting to attend along with a Financial Aid rep to look into your opinions about what scholarships you can apply for and other options that may be available to you.
  11. !!!!

there was a member who called USCIS yesterday and was told that the "waiting time" starts once they receive your application and not after bios. so those who sent their applications in august, this month would mark their 7th month of waiting. september applications, this month would mark their 6th month, so on and so forth.
  12. Hi, My Name Is Luz Elizondo

Welcome!! know that while in this group, you are not alone. we are all here to help and encourage those around us.
  13. License & IDs by State.

In CA, it depends on the person that processing your application. some have gotten it for the regular amount of time of 5 yrs and others have only gotten it for the time that their EAD is valid.
  14. sometimes the best thing to do is to ignore certain people. :)

  15. Service Request

usually a service request is place either when the "processing time" has passed. this is basically asking USCIS to look into why your case is taking so long. the standard response is "wait 30 days for a response". usually after you put in a SR, you'll get a letter in the mail stating that a SR was placed on your behalf. what happens after this, i am not sure of. i dont want to say that you'll be approved or anything like that. you just might have to continue to wait.
  16. First Job

depends on the agency you work for. i work for the city and nowhere on the app did it say that i had to be a PR or USC in order to apply, it only asked if i was able to legally work in the US.
  17. FAFSA applications are sent to the Department of Education and are not sent to the school.. Schools will need a letter from FAFSA stating that the student is not eligible for FAFSA due to their immigration status. Thus allowing the school to award school monies to a student and not federal monies.

YA YA YA YA!!! get your game on!! SUPER FLY!!!
  20. How Much Longer!!

true, all you can do is wait after the bios. not much you can do. doesnt help to call because they give you the standard answer of "wait". there are people that are still waiting since august and september.
  21. it could ( slim chance but could) give you money for school. some schools have you fill it out for a few reasons: 1.) to make sure that you are ineligible for federal aid and thus allowing you to have access to either state or school monies. 2.) some small school, will have you fill it out and see what monies MAY be left over after monies are granted to those who are USC or have legal status. it never hurts to try because there is always a chance. best thing to do is to talk to the financial aid department at the school you are either attending or want to attend and explain your situation and ask what types if aid is available to you.

  23. FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  24. if one already has or had an ITIN number and has established credit, then one can take out a loan from a bank. it might be harder for those just starting off, who do not have any credit.
  25. i dont know of a certain website, but you can look up the DMV websites for AZ, NE and MS. the DLs will vary by state. some will only issue a DL that is valid for the same length of time that your EAD is valid. and some states, like NC, put "No Legal Status" on the card.
