  1. Are dreamers considered legal residents? I though we were but I applied for financial aid for school recently and I didn't qualify. The reason they said was because I wasn't a legal resident and didn't have a green card. Who in this forum has applied and received financial aid for school and how did you do it?
  2. Financial Aid

Hi, I was wondering if receiving financial aid for school will be a negative thing once I try to renew my application for DACA. I've heard that asking for financial aid is a no no.
  3. Approved!

I am very happy to share the good news with my fellow dreamers; this morning I got an email from USCIS telling me that I have been approved and that I should be receiving my card very soon. This forum has been very helpful and I would like to thank all those who showed support. I'm still going to be around to show the same support for those who are still waiting. Keep your hopes up. 4. 14 Months And Still Nothing

Hello Everyone, It has been 14 months since I applied for DACA and all USCIS can tell me is that my "petition/application is still pending consideration". I really don't know what to do anymore. I have exhausted every avenue to try and speed up the process, I have made numerous calls and service requests to USCIS and still nothing. I even contacted my senator and he responded with a letter asking me to help support some legislation that he was trying to pass. WTF right?! I just hope they give me an answer soon. I have let many opportunities pass me by because of my status in this country. Applied: 11-23-2012 Biometrics: 12-21-2012 R.F.E. Sent: 9-5-2013 R.F.E. 5. Still Waiting

Hello Everyone, First off I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year, I hope your holidays went well. I am writing this post to express my frustration with the wait I've had to endure this past 13 months. I applied for DACA on Nov. 23, 2012 and till this day I haven't received a decision on my case. I have made several service requests, I've sent several emails, tried getting help from my senator, I responded to and R.F.E and still nothing. I reside in Texas and my application is being processed in Nebraska, wtf?! Are any of you still waiting after a year for a decision on their case? Do you live in Texas or any neighboring states and you have you're application being processed in Nebraska or Delaware? If so, what are you doing in regards to the long processing time besides waiting? Is there anything else we can do but wait and hope to get our case resolved? I don't understand why this is taking so long. I know people who applied in 2013 many months after me and received their papers within about 4-5 months. In this year of waiting I turned down better paying jobs including outside my state. I don't know what to do anymore this situation really sucks.
  6. The One Year Club

Hello Everyone, Today marks the day that USCIS received my application 13 months ago. The wait has been very frustrating to say the least, and the service provided by the operators when I call USCIS has been worse. I have many 3 service requests, I have written to my senator and I have even received a R.F.E and returned it to USCIS over 2 months ago and still nothing. I'm from South Texas and my application is being processed at the Nebraska Service Center, where they don't normally doesn't handle applications from Texas. At this point I'm just giving up hope. I had to turned down better paying jobs, got a ticket for driving with no license and I have to keep explainig to everyone almost everyday when they ask me about my papers. I'm sure there are many of you who are also part of the one year club or who waited almost a year to get your case approved. What steps are you following or followed to help get your case approved? Application Received: Nov. 23, 2012 Date of Biometrics: Dec. 21, 2012 R.F.E. Sent: Sep. 5, 2013 R.F.E. Returned: Oct. 11, 2013 Last Service Request: Dec. 12, 2013 STILL NOTHING
  7. I Want To Get This Over With!

Hello, On Sept. 5 I received a RFE from USCIS which I responded to on Oct. 9 and which they received on Oct. 11. It has been almost a month since I got an email from USCIS telling me that they had received all the additional information they had requested. What now? I know they told me that it will take a minimum of 60 days for me to get a decision on my case but I am not so sure since a lot of people have to wait longer than that after they submitted their RFE's. Can anybody tell me if they had to send and RFE and how long did you have to wait to get a decision on your case? I have been waiting for almost a year now since I submitted my application (Nov. 23, 2013) my patience is wearing thin and its just very frustrating.
  8. The Wait After Rfe

USCIS sent me a RFE on Sep. 5 which I responded to on Oct. 9 by sending all the additional evidence they requested. On Oct. 11 I got an email saying that they had received the evidence I sent them which brought me some calm. Its almost been two weeks since they last contacted me. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes for USCIS to make a decision on a case after a RFE has been responded to?
  9. Request For Evidence

Hello, On Thursday Sept. 5 I received an email from USCIS requesting more evidence on my case. The next day I called their offices and I was told that I should be receiving a form in the mail within 15 days, and that I should fill out the form and follow the instructions that will indicate what evidence or information they need to fully evaluate my application. I know many of you have received a "RFE" and I wanted to know what exactly is that they will ask me for so I can start preparing myself in gathering whatever evidence is required. Many people have told me that they will ask me for an income report, some notarized letters from people that have known me for many years, ect. What form will they be sending me? is it the I-797E? Also how long will I have to wait, after I send the form back, to get a decision on my case? I am going on 10 months now and I would appreciate any help I can get regarding this matter. Thanks.
  10. Over 9 Months And Still Waiting

Hey everyone, its been a little over 9 months since my application was received at the Dallas, TX. lockbox and I still haven't gotten a decision on my case. My application was then sent to the USCIS Service Center in Nebraska but even after contacting them the information they gave me on the status of my case has been limited. After several phone calls, emails and one e-request, the only update I was able to get from them was them telling me that they were still waiting for my "security checks" to clear. I don't understand what the hold up on my "security checks" is. I have never been accused, charged or convicted of any crime in this country or my country of birth. I even sent a police clearance sheet with my application. I have written numerous letters and emails to my congressman, I have met with my lawyer, but nothing. USCIS only keeps telling me to wait. I don't know what other steps to take. Does anyone have any advice that might be helpful regarding my case?
  11. Wtf?!

I don't why this process is taking so long. Especially for those who applied since last year. I'm at the point of just giving up hope and moving to Canada.
  12. Security Checks

I just got off the phone with a representative of USCIS who I inquired about my case. She told me that the reason why they still haven't made a decision on my case and why it still remained under "initial review" was that they are still waiting for my "security checks" to clear. I don't understand why my security checks have not cleared. I have never been accused, charged, detained or convicted of any crime in this country or my country of birth. I even sent a clearance sheet from my local police department in the application stating that I had never committed anything unlawful. So why the hold up? I am confused and frustrated because it has been 8 months since I filed my application.
  13. C'mon Wtf?

What's the deal with people applying in 2013 and getting approved in 2-3 months, while some people who applied in 2012 are still waiting and most have their cases under "initial review"? It doesn't make any sense to me. I am happy for those people, my sister being one of them, but I applied 8 months ago and still nothing on my case. What gives? Also every time I call to get an update the operators are very rude.
  14. Impatiently Waiting

I have been waiting for 7 months now. Yesterday I got a response to my service request and it said that they were still waiting on my security checks. That they couldn't predict when they would receive the security checks but when they do they will make a decision on my case. Has anyone gotten the same response, and if so what happened next? How did you proceed?
  15. Hello Everyone!

Just introducing myself. I hope everyone is having a good day.
  16. Has Anyone Been Waiting More Than A Year? :(

Hey guys, I waited for 14 months to get approved. I filed my application on Nov. 2012 and got approved Feb. 2014. My application was processed in Nebraska and I'm from Texas. Once I hit the one year mark I called and made service requests non-stop, I also wrote letters and had friends and former employers write letters for me. I saturated them with so much nagging that immediately my case was forward to a supervisor and a couple of days later I got approved. So I guess all I can tell you guys is to keep nagging them. Call as much as possible and write letters everyday, as well have your friends and family members write letters on your behalf. Keep your heads up, your time will come. Good luck.

    Thanks for sharing man.
  18. Financial Aid

Gezinha thanks for response. Yeah I've heard a lot of crazy things. I was denied financial aid from one school because like you said; they require a green card. But I am still looking at other schools and hopefully they can help me with financial aid. Have a great day.
  19. Approved!

@cheated: Thanx you! @iam Mari2013: hang in there and keep nagging them.
  20. Approved!

@Dariela: about 7 business days. Just remember President's Day was just yesterday so that day won't count.
  21. Finally Aproved.

    Congratulations
  22. Approved!

@iamMari2013: You'll get them soon keep nagging them and making service requests.
  23. 9 Months And Still Waiting

@xmimi16x: Usually its USCIS that sends you or in your case your lawyer a R.F.E not the other way around. What you and your lawyer can do is ask for a service request. You cannot request evidence from USCIS, they request it from you. To answer your first question, what I meant to say was that you should have family members, friends and acquaintances write letters on your behalf to USCIS asking for your case to be resolved. Hve them sign those letters and provide a copy of their i.ds. That help speed up the process on my case. Call USCIS yourself(1-800-375-5283) and ask for a service request on your case. Make sure you have your receipt number ready. Tell them that you case is beyond normal processing times and you wish for a supervisor to handle your case. That is what I did and I was approved 2 weeks ago. Good Luck!
  24. Approved!

@Dariela: a R.F.E is not bad news so you don't have anything to worry about. Just gather as much information as you can. Have your family, friends, and acquaintances write letters for you asking for your case to be resolved. Have them sign those letters and and give you a copy of their i.d.s to go with them. Send them the stuff you have already sent them. It's gonna be ok, I know how frustrating it is but the sooner you take care of it the better. Even after you respond to the R.F.E keep calling them and sending letters.
  25. 9 Months And Still Waiting

@xmimi16x: Do u mean that USCIS sent you a R.F.E through your lawyer? If that's the case then that means the USCIS is requesting additional evidence in order foe them to resolve your case. Meaning they need more receipts, medical records, school records, i.d's ect. . Send them everything you can even things that you have already sent them, along with signed letters from friends, family members and acquaintances and copies of their i.ds. Once you do that keep calling them and emailing once a week. Send letters of your own to the service center where your application is being processed. You'll get approved, you just gotta keep nagging them. @rockets713: that sucks man, I waited 14 months and just got approved 2 weeks ago. Have you called to make a service request? If you haven't do so asap and tell them how long you have been waiting. I suggest you also write letters to the service center where your case is being processed.
