  4. has anyone from Tennessee been approved and gone on to attend college yet? i am from TN and wanted to know if they had recieved in state tuition or not? i want to get started with school but im not sure if i can afford it so if anyone is out there that can help me thanks! and for anyone in TN that wants to get their DL/ SS# do the following steps: 1. go get a state issued ID ( get it from the DMV, just take your EAD Card, birth certificate and 2 mailing proofs: letter from lawyer/Immigration letter something like that) 2. wait til you get the hard copy in the mail, then go to the SS office with your EAD card and the ID and maybe even your birth certificate. 3. wait til you get card in the mail then go and get your permit. and as soon as you get your permit schedule a driving test online by going on the DMV website. theres never any open spots so it may take like 3 months to take the test. way to get around that is to take a drivers ed class( which can save you money on car insurance) or show up and hope that someone cancelled. and they wont take your test if it storming outside so be ready! 4. you got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. College Question

hey guys i live in Tennessee and a lot of the colleges here are telling me that i wont qualify for instate tuition. Im a little lost at what i should do. I cant afford to pay out of state because that would be crazy high even at a community college. Anyone have any suggestions on schools to look in to that has a online program that is really inexpensive
  10. im in the same boat but im from Tennessee. The laws arent as good as the ones in some states, im struggling to kinda get started with college. if anyone knows about the rules and regulations about in TN let me know because everyone that iv been talking to is just telling me off and saying that i have to pay out of state no matter what!
  11. hey i had the same exact thing. a baby passport, and a school id from like 2011. IT worked without a problem they didnt really even care as long as you had the other paperwork and had a photo of you and your name on something it was fine.
  12. How Much Is Your Car Insurance?

i pay about 930 dollars for 6 months at state farm with like all the discounts you can get. first year driver, and a brand new car. soo state farm was really cheap others were saying like 2 grand!
  13. the process might take like 3 months for you to get the DL but the SS# you can get that with a month along with the id.
  14. Boston Bombing Discussion

i feel bad for the people who were killed and injured by this terrible event and send my thoughts and prayers out to them. but i am glad that the guys who did this were not here illegally or were of any middle eastern/latino/"terrorist looking" decent. because if they were ill tell you that this we wont be getting any further with the whole immigration reform thing, i might of taken a 100 steps back.
  15. ???

hey i just recently traveled by plane last last week actually. i used my state issued DL which was a "temparary Drivers License" i had absolutly no issues in traveling from nashville to LA .... airports: BNA to LAX i guess as long as you have a valid state id and your boarding pass then you should not have any issues. just dont take anything that will get you screened any further than the norm. like water bottles, oversized containers. Just aviod stuff that they will have to take out. Because the less they need to look into your background the better. SO if you do travel follow the guide lines that the airport/airlines have posted. and just blend in, if that means spending a few extra dollars when you get to the place you are trying to get to then so be it. have fun!
  16. i had a passport that was exp in 1997. this pic was from when i was 2 years old. i also took a school id from a couple of years ago, and a birth certificate. that was enough for them to let me do my appointment so i hope that helps calm your nerves
  17. why? why? why...

i feel your pain man, but now im getting a little bit worried about myself. i applied oct 1 , got bio on Nov. 13, and they just put my case up on the website on dec. 11th, so i hope that they pick it up before mid jan. because i want get things started already!
  18. Like in to the us ... Im sure the only reason they asked me that was becuase i didnt have any kind of stamp in my passport. And they had full access to my application becuase they told me the place of arrival that i had put down, so be honest becuase they will know
  19. the office in Nashville was a little different. The guard asked for ID or in my case a old passport, school id, and birth certificate and that was completely fine. They did ask me a a weird question about how i got here and stuff, but i answered and then they went on with getting my fingerprints and photo and signature. it didn't take long at all, like maybe 5 minutes in my case. so for people who are worried and a little scared about if they will let you go through with the issues you have with id or anything. JUST BE STRONG! and confident. there shouldn't be a moment where you get scared. and i would bring someone with you, not advising a parent or family member unless that it and they are legal. But bringing a friend would be prefect just because if they ask something odd or weird about your case and you don't quite know the answer or you are reluctant to answer, they cant just turn and ask your parents if your friend is there. i was kind of scared, just a little, or it was more like expecting the unexpected but as i saw it there is nothing to worry about.
  20. If you could change one thing...?

i think one thing that can be improved is that having people who have been approved or have completed their process post their story, their complications, and how they over come them because many people run into the same issues and just having another persons personal story may help them know what to do or give them that confidence to take the next step and move forward! thanks to everyone who partakes in this forum because your help is much appreciated!
