Audi90 3 Posted December 12, 2012 Do u guys know if I have to showe ead to work or can with just them having my social security down that would work?
pswa83 302 Posted December 12, 2012 on a lot of job application it will ask if you can work legally in the US. to this question you answer yes. you also use your SSN when also filing out job application. now if the employer, you are applying with does E-Verify then you may need to show them your EAD. i recently just read an article that states that your immigration status, whether legal or illegal is a PRIVATE matter and unless asked directly you do not have to answer any question regarding it. when i am asked, my answers depends on who ask. if someone normal (like just a random person) ask, then i tell them it's none of their business and to show me THEIR papers. if it's an employer or potential employer, I tell them that i can show proper papers that will allow me to work in the US legally. most of the time, by employers or potential employers dont really ask. if they do hire you, you will need to show them your ID and your SSN. your SSN will show that it is only for "Employment Purposes Only" 1 itzel reacted to this
Audi90 3 Posted December 12, 2012 I submitted a application to work at hollister and I got an interview and I did orientation but then store manager told me dhs said I'm unhirable ? I don't get why
Aled 118 Posted December 12, 2012 What!?? That is not right... If you got approved, you have your EAD, SSN that means you are in fact allowed to work in the U.S. Unless it was very recent that you got your approval, I suppose it takes a bit of time for you to be in the DHS database. That's the only thing I can think of when it comes to your EAD card. Otherwise, this employer is being nasty with you.
Sinae 21 Posted December 12, 2012 I submitted a application to work at hollister and I got an interview and I did orientation but then store manager told me dhs said I'm unhirable ? I don't get why I don't think its your status matter? No one told you you were unhirable because of any immigration matter. It could be simply because you have no past experience. Jinpin3 8 Posted December 12, 2012 It could also happen if they did e-verify and you didn't enter your name just as it appears on your ssn and EAD. I've seen people get denied for that at the place I work at.
Audi90 3 Posted December 13, 2012 Yeah hopefully it's just because I didn't put my complete name ... Manager said he was going to call dhs to see what the problem was .. So hopefully everything gets resolved ! I had already done the orientation . I bacically had the job already
