Gir_0 0 Posted January 5, 2013 So I opened a Chase account like a month ago and I tried to open a credit card account so I can build my credit score (currently at 0). I got denied right away. I was reading the forums and some people got their credit cards approved with Bank of America. Is it bad to have more than 2 checking accounts? I can open one at Bank of America and try to apply for the credit card. I also applied for Macy's and JcPenny's and also got declined. Does anyone know why this happened? Thanks
Admin 174 Posted January 5, 2013 You opened a chase account checking account. Did you appply for the credit card same day as well? If not, how long did you wait? I as well opened a chase checking account about more than a month ago. And just yesterday, i applied for a credit card. They need 10 days or less to make a decision. This makes me a little worried now. I hope they don't decline me. In other news, I also applied for a Capitol One Credit Card and got approved right away. 500$ limit. Rawf 336 Posted January 5, 2013 Store CC require you to have a good credit history, and to get a credit card at bank of america you have to have a credit established with them for years or you can try the secured credit card they offer which you have to pay $99 and you get a limit of 500 or less. You cannot apply online, it has to be at your local bank center.
roadrunner11 167 Posted January 6, 2013 US Bank seems to be a little better about granting us credit. Try that one. It is not bad to do banking business with 2 different banks. Also, I applied for a phone today and I had to pay a deposit but in the long run these things will help build our credit score.

Gir_0 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Thanks guys, I'm applying for a Wells Fargo CC since my parents have been clients there for a while and can co-sign there. If not, then I'll get a Capital One Secured CC.
Osha 126 Posted January 23, 2013 Try local community banks, if you live in one of the southern states, try Regions Bank instead of those big banks like Bank of America.
splif0clock 89 Posted January 29, 2013 just becareful dont get to crazy with credit card. Yea, I would be careful about trying to open a credit card so soon. Most probably, you don't have the right amount of credit score to get approved and when ever you do try to open one and you get declined, it will affect your future FICO score. Remember, you need to establish your credit worth by having small utility bills, cell phone bill , and an apartment lease under your name, etc.. . And, make sure you accounts don't go in any kind of delinquencies if you are truly trying to establish a good credit score. If you are going to college, the prompt payments you make would also boost your rating. If you can find someone to cosign for you then you should be good. But, make sure you stay on top of your minimum payments. 1 Admin reacted to this

Banana Republic. Macy's seems to be very strict when it comes to approving people.
