Approved But No Work Permit?

Recommended Posts

So I got my deferred acceptance letter but not my work permit. I received my letter(I-797) not (I-797c) on Nov 27 and have been waiting for my permit since then. It's Jan 8 now should I keep on waiting or should something been done? I've gone online and did some research and it seems that most people got their permit along with the letter or 1-3 weeks after receiving the acceptance letter? Could someone give my any advice? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Note: already took my bio metrics prior. received approval for deferred action nov 27. I'm just very confused

Did you also apply for a work permit?

If so Have you checked on your case status for you work permit?

I'm pretty sure I did but when checking online the only status I see is the I821D.

I've also been told that the card goes hand in hand with the application for childhood arrivals.

I went in for my biometrics I think on October 26 and Send the application some time during October. Everything seemed to

be going smoothly but I have seen no update since Nov 27. I'm just getting a bit edgy now, during my wait I was calm and

didn't mind waiting but I feel like maybe something is wrong?

from other forums i've talked to, MOST people get both approved at the same time. some get their i765 first, and some, get their i821d. unfortunately, we're part of that unfortunate group. at least the people who got their i765 first could apply for their ssn.

I know I really wish they would keep the cases steady. I really hope it comes soon but for some reason I just feel like that's not going to happen. I'm applying for a job on Jan and I need that ssn! I've been training my butt off for a year for that job and It just feels horrible to not get it.

So let me get this straight....

You sent out 3 applications right? The I-821D, I-765, and I-765WS.

You should have gotten 2 Receipt Letters after sending in your applications. One for the I-821D form and one for the I-765.

When you look up the I-765 application Receipt Number online, what does it say?

if we look up the i-765 app, its still initial review.

doesnt USCIS have 90 days to make a decision on the I-765 AFTER they approve the I-821D??

yep. thats why we can't really call them and ask. they'd just tell us to wait till the 90 days.

I know, but Erik didn't make it quite clear. From what I understood it seems like he never sent out an I-765 since he didn't mention it.

ahhhh, i would think he would have because USCIS states that if one does not send in all the forms, they will return the application to the applicant.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I just found it weird that he said this. I'm not sure if he has his I-765 Receipt or not and it sounds like he's saying the card is supposed to come with the I-821D application.

I'm going to look for the other letters. So there is one than one receipt number? I've only been using one number so maybe that's why I see no updates. I will post here if a problem arises.

To clarify if it's not been already;

The first document that they have to approve before taking any other step is the I-821D. That is the one that makes you "Illigaly-Iegal".

After that paper is either approved or denied, they work on the I-765, the working permit. Which is then denied if you were denied for the 1-821D and investigated if you were accepted.

In many cases, both the I-821D and 1-765, were accepted and card production began together. In some cases, the I-765 wasn't. There is a 90-day grace period that you must wait before making any complaints.

I received all my documents and I couldn't be happier. I am not going to lie, many wouldn't like to be in your position because they are so hesitant, but also many would trade spots with you at any moment because their applications were denied.

Patience is all you need and everything has its time.

OMG ! Finally someone else!

I have the same exact problem ! I had my biometrics October 5 and 2 weeks after they approved my deferred action . It's so comfusing because I haven't got my work permit either . I called a bunch of times and they all tell me the same thing ." U have to wait 90 days since ur defered action was approved " not since bios or acceptance !

I been waiting longer so don't worry

And yes u should have another receipt number . And my work permit is still in initial review

I'm so relived I'm not the only one !

And did u filled out the applications by urself ?

Let me know if anything !

If you don't find it, all you have to do is change the last number. If your receipt# for I-821 is EAC1234648785 then your I- 765 EAC # last number will go up by one or down by one. Try it and see what it say.

:)

Hi, You get two different receipt number for each application, but i think the receipt numbers are the same except for the last number. Like my receipt number for application i821D ended with 88, and my receipt number for application i765 ended with 89, so try to change ur last number to its corresponden number order.. and see if u can see ur status for the application i765, Good luck and hope it helpss!!

I just got approved on Jan 8!! whoooojoo! Im just waiting for my CARD, i check the tracking number and its getting here on saturday January 12! So excited.. now looking forward to apply for ssn, and get a Drivers license! and look for a JOB!! :D is this nice or what? :D!!

*( But it wasnt easy!! it was a long wait! First they received my applications on August 24th, 2012, I waited andd waited! looking at my status every day! and nothing!! THEN... i see an update saying: on December 10 we sent you a letter requiring more evidence ! they didnt said what! but i was like! they took 2 months just to tell me that? :@ well.. i sent more evidence of continuos residency on the US for 5 years, sent it and they got on DEC 28! a few days later.. well Jan 8! boom! another update! approved :D the rest u know it ;) THANKS GOD!

Mine still says initial review. What do they investigate if you were already background checked? Do they recheck criminal records? or do they go in deeper?
