I went to the community college to request financial support and the dude there tried everything possible to get my sister and myself help, but you have to be a permanent resident at least to qualify. itzel 336 Posted January 9, 2013 Sorry girl, Im not too familiar with Califonia community college financial aid classes, but here in Texas community colleges they do offer payment plans and sometimes emergency loans. You might want to look into your community colleges financial aid department and see if they offer that. Yes, unfortunately education is expensive. MoniqueMelissa 10 Posted January 9, 2013 Didn't they pass the California Dream Act? I think in addition to in-state tuition, if you're low income you get financial aid. They have restrictions like you have to have graduated or attended a California High School for 3 years. I know it applies to all the public colleges and universities so maybe. I'm not 100% sure. Maybe ask an advisor. I also know that in New York the CUNY's offer financial aid to anyone as long as you qualify for it. Every state is different, let alone each institution. You should really look into the opportunities that Pswa mentioned regarding Financial Aid for Dreamers in Cali... Well Now that the California Dream Act is in action you can apply for Either BOG Fee Waiver or FAFSA for whichever school you are going to. I go to SMC, and I applied for the BOG for Spring Semester.
