Will A School Id Be Enough For My Biometrics Appointment?

Recommended Posts

I recently got my appointment letter in the mail and noticed i need to bring in a photo ID. I never got a state ID or a "matricula" but i did use that school ID (at least, a copy of it) in my application, which was accepted. I'm curious, does anyone know if this will count?

The application being accepted at the lockbox just means you sent in the correct forms and the payment. It doesn't mean your evidence was accepted or that your case was approved.

Anyways, using the school ID will depend on the ASC that you have to go to. Some will let you use a school ID, others won't. If you can, you should try to go before your appointment date and ask if you could use your school ID for your biometrics. If you can't, I would make an appointment for a Matricula.

Which is exactly why i was wondering if my school ID would suffice for the biometrics. But i guess i can't know for sure without contacting the office. Thanks anyways. I may indeed have to schedule to get my matricula beforehand.

At the lockbox they check to see if you sent in the payment of $465, the I-821D, I-765, and I-765WS form and that you signed them all. They don't look at your evidence, so the fact that you sent in your school ID is no indication of whether they will allow you to use it at the Biometrics appointment.

True. Although, i just got off the phone with them and they explained that because it's pretty much impossible to go to a DMV and apply for an ID, in our case, they understand and allow deferred action applicants to use other forms of ID. Like school IDs. Took a huge weight off my shoulders.
