I am just wondering if USCIS updates the case on there site or not ... if you had received a letter, can you answer the question below.

Was there any notification about RFE letter being issued when you checked your case status online ? if so, did it specify the date as well ?

Yes, your online status will change and if you have notifications set up, you will be notified by text or e-mail.

JoseG, I still see that message you posted above today when I go to check my status. Mine was mailed on Decemeber 7th 2012. And according to my lawyer, every that was requested has been sent. So then my question is, should I still be seeing that message today even after they've received what they requested? (Assuming they received it because it was sent to them the very next week back in December)

I dont think you should be seeing that specific message. They should of updated it letting you know that they received the RFE Response. I'm not sure, I could be wrong but you really have to call them just to make sure that they've received the response to the RFE. Call them first thing Monday morning.

Yes, your case should have updated once they have received your RFE response, which should be within a week after you mail it to them.

If your status doesn't update to where it says that they have received it, it's possible that they didn't get your reponse and if you don't call in to make sure they did, your case could be considered abandoned if it goes over the time frame they gave you to respond to the RFE.
