chuckster954 0 Posted January 21, 2013 What if I got approved for DACA but did not get work permit approved? Can I still get a SSN and a driver's license?
pswa83 302 Posted January 21, 2013 have you been DACA approved and not EAD approved? or are you asking just in general? i think in CA, you can get a DL if your are approved for DACA as long as you have a letter from the SSA saying that you are ineligible for a SSN. I am not sure about other states as you would have to look at their requirements for a DL and may also have to check into whether or not you can still get a SSN without a valid EAD. JoseG 383 Posted January 21, 2013 Like pswa83 said, here in California you can get an ID and DL without an SSN if you have been approved for DACA only and not the EAD. I doubt many other states do this, if any, they usually all require a Social Security Number. Look at your state's department of motor vehicle's website to see the requirements, or give them a call. About the Social Security Number, you won't be able to get one if you don't get approved for the EAD.
