Hello, my name is Beah and I'm glad to have joined this forum! I cannot believe I did not find this sooner.

I live in LA Country in California, a college freshman, and my daca was approved in late october/early november.

I now have a social security, California id, and a driver's license!

I'm just shocked how hard it is to find a job even with all these documents.

And I still can't find financial aid to pay for my tuition.

Well, I hope I make some new friends here

I live in so Cal as well I dont know if you are attending a community college or a 4-year university (UC or CSU) but if you are in community college you can apply to the BOG fee waiver and if you are attending a 4 year institution then you can apply for cal grants through the Dream application (CA Dream Act)

Cal grants are a type of financial aid. Financial aid is any kind of support/aid/money that you get to be able to pay for school. I think you meant federal aid. Federal aid is money that you get from the goverment such as FAFSA. Cal grants are a type of aid from the state of California, not from the federal goverment

It seems to me that the state of California offers so much support for the youth to go to school! That's fantastic...! For you guys out there - get informed, find the resources and go to school! Take advantage

Hi there welcome Beah and congratulations. I can relate to what you say on the job search. I had to wait almost 2 months until I could get a job. But hey keep applying, revamp your resume, have someone else look at it and give you ideas on what skills and key words to include.

It is awesome you are also going to college. One idea, go to your school's career department and ask them about internships. Usually those can lead to a really good job or references. Best wishes!

I've tried to apply for the BOG Waiver, before I got my social security and was denied. I believe I'll be eligible after Spring 2013, cause I applied in November so I think I have to wait for the next semester.. What are the requirements for the BOG? I attend a community college!

thank you! yeah, i'm going to stop by this week at the career center and financial aid department to see if they have any job openings on campus, and if i could get a student loan, since i don't think i'm eligible for any federal aid. maybe just state.

Did you fill out the correct form , if you need help let me know , i filled one out and it worked for the BOGG Fee Waiver.

i think you have to file the AB 540 form first (don't know if you did already) . You should talk to someone from the financial aid office at your college because apparently the forms are different for every college (that's what the lady from the financial aid office at my college told me) but you should qualify for it.
