Bill Would Set An 8-Year Path To Residency

Recommended Posts

8 years !! wow, they sure are planning to make some money on I-131 form.

what about those ALREADY in line??

http://news.yahoo.co...--politics.html

pswa, I am sure they would do something about that without no doubt.

People who have been waiting for a response for years would fall under broken immigration system that they are trying to fix and have been talking about for the past 3 years.

of course they would discredit it if they didnt come out with it themselves. it doesnt seem any different then what the President has been saying for the past month or so.

I-131 form is travel document or advance parole travel document application you file, if you want to travel outside of US. The application fee is almost the same as DACA, around 500 bucks.

I really want to know if someone got approved for a travel permit after DACA and how they went about it. I don't think I can wait another 8 years to see my family. It has already been 11. I hope the conditions to apply get less strict at least. I mean, I wish that if the people who are getting in the "back of the line" are getting there at all, they should allow them temporary travel permits. Maybe like, once every 2 years or something like that. Wish, wish, wish, I just keep on wishing. lol

with DACA, one can only apply for AP because of illness (in terms of someone in the family is very ill and is going to die), death (and they need to attend the funeral) educational purposes (study somewhere over seas) or humanitarian reason. In all of these cases, paperwork will need to be provided. doctors note saying a person is dying. or a death certificate in order to attend a funeral. letter from the school, stating you are studying overseas.

once applied and approved for AP, the AP will only be good for a certain time frame and it would be VERY important to make sure that one would be back in the US before the expiration date of their AP. also, returning to the US with AP may or may not cause a problem when going through Customs. Seeing how DACA approved applicants still do not have legal status in the US, we can be barred from entering the US even with AP. This would cause the 3 to 10 year ban to go into affect.

all that being explained, i would ask a lawyer about it. applying for AP does cost more money and it would suck to apply and pay for it and then not get approved.

For someone who overstayed a visa, I think it will be hard to re-enter since they fall under the category of the ban even if they get approved for AP. But, for someone who entered without inspection, like those who crossed the border illegally, it might be easy since they won't be any record of them entering... yet, I would still be cautious about taking that chance in any case scenario.

The Obama Immigration Draft Plan is very good. The 8 year wait for residency is very fair because those who are in line have to be processed first. Just consider that people who are doing it the legally way have been waiting for up to 16 years to get a green card, but with the Obama's plan those folks will be processed much faster to make way for those who are here illegally to processed as well. The dreamers under Obama plan will only have to wait for 2 years to get a green card and five years to get citizenship. The backlogs in our immigration system is incredibly ridiculous, and what the Obama plan does is expedite those who are in the applicant process for a green card and also eliminate some of the Visa categories that don't really help much but make things worse. So far this is a very fair plan, but its probably not going to be the plan that congress passes. The Obama plan is just a backup just in-case Congress doesn't pass its own plan which by the way will be different and probably much tougher for some of us to swallow. :)

If this draft is real or not, The Obama plan is flawed! just like the dream act. They're poorly written & thought of & there's a whole bunch of loop holes & will make the immigration problem worse.Dead bill walking lol. Economy issues need to be fix instead of spending time playing golf in Florida. Defense cuts need to be fix.

Advance Parole is a one way ticket according to BP for those EWIs, 18+ & single. & yall dreamers might get a surprise around summer/fall.
