splif0clock 89 Posted February 19, 2013 I don't think your status would affect your ability to buy a house. If you believe, you can afford the house and you get approved for a home-loan then go for it. I am sure there are no such law that stops someone from buying a house because they are not legally present in the US. From some stories that I've heard, if you purchase a house worth 500K and pay for it up front, you can apply for a green card. FYI, there are many investors from china who currently own lots of properties in Manhattan because they could afford it. And, I belive they came in the US with visitor visa or business visa.
